We sent our information in to get on the master list. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but hey we are on our way! :moped:

OK Here we go with some questions:

1. How concerned should we be about sea sickness? This is our first cruise and all. Lisa gets carsick sometimes and we aren't sure about the kids.

2. Tell me about the gifts. How does the gift exchange work and what is it all about?

3. What are the best excursions for small kids? Is it better to leave small kids behind sometimes? Do we need to book ahead of time or can we wait until we board? Are there excursions offered locally not through the cruise line?

4. We are in the late seating for dinner. I'm a bit worried that this we be a problem since we have little kids. Any thoughts/experiences to share on that?

5. How formal is the formal night? Jacket and tie/cocktail dress OK or is it evening gown/tux?

6. How do we participate in the wine tasting?

7. Anyone with small children under 5 (that has late night seating) want to sit together at meals? I'd love to have other kids for mine to share their experience with.

That is why I went to a digital camera. Unfortunately, my photos are still crummy. :( Nice camera, but rotten photographer. At least with digital fewer prints are wasted. Only the really good ones get printed.:rolleyes: In other words, maybe a handful out of every hundred.

1. Being on the Master list means you will be known to those preparing sailaway goodies....not a gift exchange, as such... and to others who might want to get in touch with you during the cruise.
2. You might also want to take a look at the list of activities that appears in the twice-posted daily summary of news on this thread and contact whomever is in charge of any activities you might like to participate in
3. There are special pins, patches, and shirts to be ordered, buttons and magnetic door signs to get information in for, as well as the wine-tasting party to attend (bring a bottle of your favorite local vino) hosted by Dreams Unlimited, who is providing the spread...(food goodies).

Read the summary a couple of times and make your choices...

Many of us are "linked" for same dining times and seating.

Dinner dress ranges from cocktail party to formal...Me? I'm doing more formal than cocktail party because I found a great sale on gowns....ever the bargain hunter...
Seasickness? The first aid center has pills..Suggest you try Bonine before the cruise to test how you tolerate it then, aboard ship, if you feel queasy, start taking it...one each day, or whatever the dosage is on the box, for the duration...Mostly not a problem but if you are affected you could have a miserable time...just prepare early...it is manageable.

No Flash but has ASA800 speed film, need to avoid the x ray machines. 27 exposures. Will work great for CC, not sure about the diving, a whole lot smaller than our Under Water Camera set up for sure.


I can't imagine that they will omit sending all our mailed boxes through some of an x-ray machine....

Margaret, That is exactly why we went totally digital. Just don’t want to bring our Underwater Set up on this trip due to size. We really like not worrying about x rays, taking a bunch of photos. etc. Still the big dog pros of Underwater Photo are not totally sold on digital. These disposables will be good enough for this trip.

Lynda, I bet you are correct that the boxes would also be subject to X-Ray. Scratch that Idea.

Randall, I was thinking the same.

Now where did you order the styrofoam thingys to ship it???

I ordered mine from ULine but I found them a little cheaper at Box Vendor. The shipping at Uline was less expensive than Box Vendor, so the price was within a few dollars.

I should get my containers today or tomorrow, will let you know if they look good. I got 4 of the 3-bottle kind for flexibility. I'm betting the will work equally as well for any liquor that might be coming home... :)

Last time we did the Panama Canal I couldn't get a cheap one way fare from Salt Lake to Florida so I started playing around and checked the other cities I knew we could get to and then "connect". I found a fare on Continental out of Las Vegas one way for $118 into Florida, so we booked a flight from SLC to Las Vegas and San Diego to Salt Lake City on Delta for $130 and then booked a separate one way flight on Continental for the $118. So we ended up paying $258 for the whole thing. Try it a couple of different ways and see what you can come up with!

Being you are a Panama Cruise veteran... Is it worth hauling my camcorder aboard ? Will I be able to get good video going through the canal area ? I have one of those that is a palm vh-c ? I of course will bring the digital camera and binoculars...

We brought our camcorder, but it is one of the smaller versions, so it is easy to haul around.

Now, on Christmas Day in St. Thomas (or were we in St. Maarten) we bought a brand new camcorder. It holds the memory card and we have a 1 gig card and it takes about 45 minutes to fill up. Get this-the camera fits in your hand and my DH wears it on a strap around his neck. Then I just take the card, download it on my laptop and then transfer to disks! (2 copies, just in case I mess up one!) Spent $400 for the whole thing! We weren't planning on buying one, but my two son-in-laws and us all bought them while in the camera store there. So we will now be bringing our new camcorder, plus our Canon Digital Rebel 6.2 megapixels (which we probably took 2,000 pictures with on the 10 day Christmas cruise).

That's why I need to bring the laptop! I just download each night.

I know this will come as a complete surprise to everyone, but one of my interests is improv comedy. Since DCL took the improv out of Off-Beat, it's up to us to bring improv back to the Magic. So, I'll be "hosting" some improv games on one of the at sea days TBD. Anyone interested? No experience necessary. It's just for fun. Audience members needed, too, but a minimum drink requirement may be imposed to enhance the comedic value of participants.

Seaulater = Disboard Navigator. The Navigator To Be Made and delivered to everyone's "fish" for when they arrived at their stateroom door.
I will make up the navigator (for everything we have scheduled prior to the cruise), print, bring, and deliver to everyone. I will also bring extras for the sailaway party(ies).
What has been done in the past is that the Navigator was posted, before we left on a website and then people could print out if they wanted.

So here's what it will list:
1. People's names; location and whether they are playing tag or not..
2. Each day and the schedule of disboard activities for that day.
3. A place for Notes.
4. Anything else that might be deemed important.

Ron Jons and the Radisson, no official meets have been Set up as of yet but Look for folks all day around the pool area's also several others at the Airport hyatt and plans are in works.

I have been thinking about what to ship down to the ship. Probably things that we can afford to lose would be the best bet.

The plan already had been to stop at Wal Mart to pick up a few things. There are WalMart's all over the place so I have a few to choose from :rolleyes: :cloud9:

Some of the other things I will take with me are some of my low-carb snacks and drinks. I already now that I will not stay on target, but I can at least make an effort :rotfl:

And looking back at my last question of how many DCL cruises we have all taken, there is a great variety and we can all learn from each other :wave2:

Now we are just waiting for the 1-3 inches of snow to come by morning and 1-3 more during the day tomorrow :cold:

When is this going to end!

We are renting a car from Hertz, when we dock in San Pedro. The car rental is 4.5 miles from the pier. They said to call and if someone is available, they will pick us up - if not, we can take a cab and they will reimburse us up to $10.00 on the cab. We are returning the car to LAX and there is no drop off fee. Three other car rentals I called charged a drop off fee for a different location. ;)

I rented form Budget. 3 days for $125 for a Mercury Marquis. I called the local LA office and she told me not to listen to the natl office, if you're renting from them, they'll pick you up. Good deal for us, and I also found out this week I can get a discount from work for Budget and Avis, so I'm going to refigure them and see if I can save anything.

WHERE:The Disney Magic, Promenade Lounge, Deck 3 (near the AFT elevators)

TIME: 12:30-1:30 PM

WHAT: You will be making FOUR scrapbook pages in the hour. All supplies will be provided. Come prepared to take home your pages. All you will need to do is add your pictures!

QUESTIONS????Please PM me and I will respond, or ask away here, and I'll fake :confused3 my way through a logical answer.

WHAT IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO SCRAPBOOK? No worries! Everyone is welcome! This will be an easy, fun, creative time and the worst case scenario......you get to spend quality time with your DisBoard friends and family.

CAN YOU STILL SIGN UP IF YOU HAVEN'T YET?YES! But please PM me with your names and number of scrapbookers attending. Since I am putting together packets prior to cruising, I really need to know the number planning on attending. Also, I will be using the Mini Navigator to have Zazu's Crew post a note on your door the night before to remind you of the time and location (in case of any last minute changes), so make sure I know your stateroom number.
