When will your kids be on winter break this year? We go back on Jan.9. It seemed late to me. Anyone else finding this????

Same for us here in the Atlanta area. I think WDW is going to be pretty crowded the first week in January.

Yep, we have the exact same dates (Dec. 22 - Jan. 9). We were thinking of an extra trip to Disneyland. We go back and forth between WDW & DL with AP's and we're thinking of starting our DL ones early instead of waiting for Spring Break. Wonder if that first week of Jan. will be much more crowded than usual.

So far it seems as if WDW will be more crowded than usual that week after New Years.

Oh darn! Our kids are back in school by 1/3 so we were hoping the crowds would not be too bad. We will only be there 1/1 - 1/4. I can take crowded, but mob scene is not what I was looking forward to :sad2:
I guess I can't really complain, we will still be in WDW! :cool1:

We are only out from December 21 to January 2. But the schools here will also be closed February 27 to March 1 for Mardi Gras.

We live in Orange county NY. Our winter break is: last day of school is Dec 23, they go back Jan 2. We do not have a winter recess in Oct or Feb like other districts seem to. The only other break they have is in April. Last day at school is April 12, then they go back April 24. They have scattered days off for the holidays like Vet's day, and Presidents day, etc.. Their last day of school is June 23, 2006. It snows alot where we live so we don't get that mid winter break because we have alot of snow days. My sisters kids go to school in Rockland county NY and almost always have the same breaks as us.

No you are not the only one!! I was so happy when I got the school calendar for 2005/06. I got it awhile ago and started planning our vacations! For the past couple of years we've had to take DD out of school for our WDW trips. As she gets older we won't be able to do that anymore and I'm going to have to go during busy holiday or summer times! :sad2:

Maybe we'll go after New Year's after all. Atlanta schools will be out so it might still be crowded. Maybe just for a couple of days though. I am curious about Florida schools, if they are out maybe we will wait a week after all.

I am a fifth grade teacher.

My last day of work is 12/16.
We leave for WDW on 12/17 and return on 12/23. :)

This is one of the few years that we will have 2 weeks off @ Christmas... I can't wait.

DD is starting Kindergarten this year. I don't even have a CLUE as to the schedule for the school year in her district. I guess I will just have to hope that they have a similar school calendar to ours. :)

That is the exact time we were at WDW last December - GREAT dates! It got a little busier every day but nothing like the week between Christmas and New Year's

You should be able to access your DD's school calendar on-line. I always look up our county's calendars on their website. The 2005-06 school calendar has been available on-line for many months - although it is "unofficial" when 1st available. (rarely changes though!) I like knowing well in advance when my DD will have time off!
