We have had our new caravan for a week today,Got a great deal on it msrp was 20500,got it for 15100,after rebates and dickering.I done alot of research ,and for the money I am very pleased with my BUDGET purchase.Cant wait to drive to DIS in april :earsboy: :earsboy:

Sorry to hear you bought a Chrysler mini-van. :worried: This is what Phil Edmonston's Lemon-Aid website has to say on these vehicles:
Buyers should stay away from bargain-priced new and used minivans that require frequent and costly repairs. Chief among these are Chrysler minivans, Ford Windstars, and the Mercury Villager/Nissan Quest. Chrysler models had engine, drivetrain, electrical and fuel system, AC, brake, and body deficiencies galore.
Hope you're the exception.

Our Grand Caravan wasn't a bargain, but, except for an early computer glitch that was quickly fixed, it's been a good, reliable vehicle for five years. We're driving to Orlando and back in it soon, so I'll let you know if it makes it. Congrats on your great buy.

Congratulations! We purchased a dodge grand caravan in 1999, 6 years and 100,000 miles later, no problems whatsoever.

Congratulations, I hope it goes well for you with the van! We had a 2000 Caravan that had a bunch of problems and we ended up trading it in, but it sure did look sharp, heh!

We have 2 Grand Caravans - one 5 1/2 years old, 114 thousand miles on it. No trouble (except it seems to eat brakes. )

One 11.5 years old - 143 thousand miles on it. No problems.

Enjoy your new van! :)

Yup, we love our Chrysler mini-van. It's a 2001, and replaced the 1992 one when the transmission was about to go. When I go to replace this one....Chrysler will likely have my business again! :) Have fun. Driving to Florida in a mini-van is soooooo nice. We've done it with 7, 6, 5, and 4 of us. Wahhhhh. I wanna go....NOW!!!!

My 1st new vehicle, a 1996 Grand Caravan has 148,000 miles on it and is still going strong! I've had nothing but good luck with it and would love to buy new 2005 Caravan, but I love not having a car payment. I'd rather be able to go to Disney more often than drive a new car and have a monthly payment! Good luck with your new van and enjoy!

Congratulations!!!

You may want to consider a cartop carrier if you don't already have one. They make packing a mini-van a whole lot easier. (for a semi-large vehicle, mini-vans don't have much cargo room if you have 3 kids!!)

Also, on the way to WDW, you will be driving the vehicle of choice - a mini-van with a cartop carrier. We even counted how many we saw on the drive!!

We're on our second grand Caravan, a 2005. No problems with either of the two.

We are on our second as well, both 'Grand' To me worth the extra money, especially if you have kids. For those who don't know and may shop one some day the grand has an extra foot or so in length, it's behind the back seat and it very nice without it there is very little cargo space.

We bought a 2000 one new and two years later we were T-boned by a pick up truck doing 60+(before the skid) My wife and my 2 year old were sitting on that side (me and my 4 year old were on the other) The van did was it was supposed to do! 3 out of 4 of us walked away, shaken, a bump or a bruise here or there but fine. My little one had to have stitches in his head from flying glass...VERY SCARY!!! to see that and not knowing what was wrong. The pictures of the van were nasty, it was totaled of course, 7 out of the 8 windows were shattered by the impact, but again after a trip to the hospital all 4 of us were home within hours. Two days later I went out and bought me another Dodge Grand Caravan. Seeing what I paid for the new one vs what I got(was going to get) for it 2 years later I ended up buying a used one and adding a warranty, but in the end I never needed it.

Van 1 made it to Disney one time and van 2 had made the trek twice plus one trip to Gulf Shores all with 2 little boys in the car. Four for four on GREAT TRIPS (knock on wood) For trips we always pull out the captians chairs and put the carseats in the back row. This allows space to pack extra stuff and for the 9" tv/vcr (not a fan of tv in the car, but when it comes to 14 hour drives I can break that rule). It also gives us room to climb back there while we are on the road if we need to. And (although I am a seat belt and car seat freak) on occasion it has given us somewhere to lay down a sleeping kid on the way back to the all stars after a long day at EPCOT.

Congradulations! You're going to love it. We've had our for almost 3 years and my DH loves it. He never go without one now!

Congratulations. We just got a new 2005 grand caravan too. Our old one bit the dust with 175,000 on it. I just love those stow and go seats and the entertainment system. My ds hook up the ps 2 also , love those wireless headphones, we got a 3rd one for free with our wheeling and dealing and I love the seperate temperature controls. Have a great trip and enjoy your new van. What color did you get. We got butane blue, but we liked the magnesium color too.

::yes:: Yep, ours is the same only it's the base caravan, not the grand. No problems ever! 106,000 and going strong! Good luck with yours, we love ours.

Well.... good luck. I can't say we've had terrible luck with ours, but not great luck either. Our first NEW car was a 1998 Dodge Grand Voyager/Caravan. About six months old it sprang a MAJOR leak in the transmission and had to be towed to the dealership (fortunately it happened in our driveway and not out of town).

Fastfoward a bit.... decided to upgrade some features and traded our 1998 for a 2000 Grand Voyager/Caravan. Got a terrible price for our 98, even though it was VERY clean with average mileage. (We saw it on their lot for sale for $5000 than what they gave us for it a week later....now I don't mind them making a profit, but $5k???). Got an okay price for the 2000 and really have had very little trouble up until last week. The transmission is slipping and will probably need to be replaced very soon. Way TOO SOON for an automatic transmission with just barely 80,000, in MHO.

If/When we replace this vehicle, we will not buy another Dodge/Chrysler any time soon. ....................P

That is an excellent price!!! My minivan (Mercury Villager) is getting WAY rough around the edges (coming up on 200K) and so I have been watching minivan prices for a while.
YOU DID GOOD!

Hope you enjoy it and have good luck with it.

While I like many features of our 1996 Caravan, we've had to replace the transmission TWICE. (most recently a week before Christmas, and we simply arent able to afford another car payment, so it had to be repaired)

We previously had a 1992 Voyager, and got rid of it when the TRANSMISSION went out. (think we'd learn our lesson)

DH would NEVER buy another Chrysler/Dodge van. They have serious problems with underpowering the transmissions. If we had paid more attention to Consumer Reports we wouldn't have purchased it.

:confused3

We purchased a new Caravan in 1991--got 6 years and 155,000 miles out of her. We called it the Grey Ghost. We had one $400 repair on it.

When it was time for a new car we purchased a 1997 Caravan. So far it is going strong and has 164,000 miles.
