This should tell you just exactly how badly I did NOT want to go back out in the traffic.....I made dinner. Nothing "liver" about it.....meatloaf...again....

I feel so bad. Molly (the dog) was so excited to go for a loooooong ride today. Then we got inside the Pet Resort and she stopped dead in her tracks. She knew where she was. She looked at me like I was the meanest Mom in the whole wide world. :guilty:
BUT....they are getting a turkey and gravy dinner for Christmas. That makes me feel a little better.

AND....I was pretty upset that Megan and Pete weren't going to his parents in New York. That meant they'd be all alone. So, they are going to spend Christmas in Prescott (snow!) with Jay's sister. Now that the guilt trips are over, maybe I can have fun on the real trip!

Stacey - sorry to hear you had such a bad day.

Leslie - sent you a pm about pins.:D

Therese - got your pm - thanks!

:sad1: We're supposed to leave for FL tomorrow, and my BIL called today from CT to say DH's grandma is in the ICU and probably only has a couple of days left...she came down with a bad infection that's attacking her heart (that's the overly-simplified explanation). This is dragging up all sorts of ancient history garbage between my DH and his dad...He doesn't know what to do right now, and I'm trying to be supportive without making any decisions for him, since I have some issues with his dad (can you say understatement???)...I really don't need this right now, and neither does he. His brother thinks Joe should go ahead and take the cruise, there's nothing anyone can do at this point and she may still pull through (though she's a DNR at this point, and the docs are extremely pessimistic). Joe is also saying that he doesn't want to ruin our vacation, which is a pretty significant one for us -- we've finally put our marriage back together and we were looking forward to renewing ourselves on this cruise. He's planning on buying me a new wedding ring on one of the islands and all that good stuff...this year was horrible for us, and we both need this "starting all over again" trip.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the long vent -- I really feel lost and miserable and confused -- I'm not sure what the "right" thing to do is...

Dee, so sorry to hear about your sadness..................

take a deep breath and follow your heart, what ever happens is supposed to and you will feel what is the right thing to do

Hugs! :grouphug:

Seems like we have all "vented" at one time or another......
When Jay's dad was alive and in our care, we went through heck leaving him, not knowing if he would still be here when we got back. But we both needed the time alone together, just like you said. One thing that I always tried to gently remind Jay, was that basically, his dad's life was over when he had his last stroke. But we still had a life ahead of us, and if you two are trying to make your life together better, then you need to do what you can for yourselves. We learned that we weren't going to "mend any fences" with some of Jay's relatives (his Mom) no matter what.....
I guess what I'm trying to say is.......YOUR life and YOUR relationship should come above all else, except for your son. And he needs the two of you!

Thank you for making me feel not so strange. Our kennel offers a "vacation package" which includes playing with the horses, left over food, etc. What a scam. We always include a day or two of the vacation package just so we don't feel to guilty.

Leslie - Don't Lock you Luggage! If the ships rules (TSA) are the same as the airports - they will break open your luggage if they need to check it. I use the black twist ties that come on the cords of new electronic items to secure the bags - yet they can be opened if needed.
Home Depot has lime green Zip Ties. :) We have plenty coming along with us.

So funny when I called today to confirm that our cat "Summer" was coming in tomorrow- they were excited! When she vacations at her Vet's (they board also) she is the Queen of the shop - they don't even keep her in a cage - she roams about or sits on the front desk to greet everyone! When we take her home it takes a couple weeks to bring her back to reality - we love her and give her plenty of attention - but there are limits...................

Ditto on the good idea. I heard now you can buy locks now that I think TSA has a key to all of them. Sharper Image sells one I think TSA can open. We usually dont lock our luggage though anyway.

Just pack really big bags. There are no size restrictions, that I know of. We take the big ones and pack them full.
They ARE really big bags... and they are really full.... but there are more than 4....LOL

Just checking in one last time. Not sure if I'll have the chance tomorrow. We're leaving tomorrow. DH will drop the dog off at the "doggie Hotel" and run in to work for a bit. We'll probably end up leaving around noon. Hopefully we'll meet some of you on Friday at MVMCP. Everyone have a safe trip. See you Saturday!!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :D

Sorry to hear about this last minute crisis. :(

I'd say if the BIL says it's nothing to stick around for, then it isn't. We honestly almost had to face the same situation, My grandmother wasn't doing well before our last trip (road trip to WDW, Member Homecoming). It was something we knew was coming a long time out as years ago they scanned her and found a brain tumor with the advice to not worry about it(she was in her 80's already). Well, her heath declined really fast and she passed away weeks before we went. We had decided already that wether she was going to pass or not we were still going to go and stick to the plan. We had this in mind then, might sound kind of harsh, we'll still be here after she's gone, and maybe this'll sound nuts, but maybe a happy time for us to be together would outbalance the loss of her. At least that's kind of how we looked at it. Us aborting the trip wouldn't do anything except put that in our heads that we aborted that trip for her passing. And aborting that trip would have been a lot easier than this one.

Plus you are allowed two carry ons and two purses/briefcases - Use all of your options.

Geez, if I don't lock the luggage it will pop open, esp when the luggage gorillas get hold of it! :D Unfortunately it is not the kind you can secure with zip ties. It has the built in flip type locks. Hmmmm I don't think there was a problem last year when we went on the Wonder. Maybe I'll just put a strap around it if I can find one tomorrow. We had them but they were destroyed last time we flew and of course now I remember that we have not replaced them yet... Arrrrrgggghhhhhh!

Well, I've purchased a good amount of clothing lately, not realizing how it added up. I two black dresses and a velvety green one. I have 4 pairs of capris and a skirt. And I have a bunch of tops to go with those. I am SO not a dress person, but seeing as I didn't lose that 10 pounds, I'm thinking a dress will be more comfortable.

ALL of my clothes fit in a garment bag (along with KT's and Nick's) and one large suitcase.

Great...now I feel like I'm forgetting something!

I really, really tried to find some new capris. Just nothing. I will be wearing pants, unless I find some in Key West!

Going to fill out cruise docs then go to bed. Will be leaving here at 5:00 am (hopefully) so this is my last check in.

I'll see many of you Friday night at MVMCP and the rest on Saturday!!

Safe travels to all!!

We looked at those.. however Mary and I have read posts on the cruise forum of those getting cut off as well. It doesn't surprise me too much, they're usually in a big hurry, so many bags to check, no time to be wasted digging thru a huge keyring. If they're going to cut it off anyhow, a container of 100 psychadelic zip ties for $5.99(or such) is a lot better value. I've packed a handful of them for the way back too.

If you're going to get some, they're in a screwtop lid clear jar, they're all kinds of neon colors.

Karen - have a safe trip down. Enjoy MVMCP!

See you at the port!

Hang in there, it is not much longer now...My DH is pretty stressed too with finishing his projects and then his packing...we leave for the airport in 9 hours!

It is the little spontaneous things that give me joy. Like watching my DD, who is at this minute doing improvisational dance to Charlie Brown Christmas music, accompanied with jingle bell bracelet. She is in heaven and it spreads princess:

Hey things are already looking up we got a shared TOP!

Oh, I remember that age. All the ages are pretty wonderful with little girls, though the verdict on the teen years is still out.
