I don't want to stir up the pot but I want to give you my experience with security at the airport. When we came home from Thanksgiving, my Dad decided to save money and send a few presents home with us. He had them in a box and he had them wrapped. At check-in they made me open the box, and unwrap the present and even open the box it was in. The lady at check-in also told me that once it went through the screeners they might open it again. And they did, because there was a smaller item in the box I didn't know about that they unwrapped.

These items were packed in a box, so they had to be opened but I think luggage is different. If they are not sure about what they are seeing when they screen it they will check the suitecase. If the item is wrapped they will unwrap it to check it. After this experience I decided not to wrap anything and I am just taking gift bags to make the wrapping easier.

Hope this helps. If you have things wrapped and packed I would say leave them, but maybe have a back-up plan just in case.

Hi Jeri.........

I am saddened about the news of the cancellation.
I will call Dolphin Discovery tommorrow.
I am booked on my own and not through Disney.
I am getting a really bad feeling about this.

I'll try not to let it spoil the rest of the vacation, if it is cancelled.

DD does not know about it so she won't be upset.

I'll have to look on the bright side.........maybe I can scuba dive after all.
Time to look for my Naui card and log book.

Kevin are the DISer's diving in Antigua?

3 more sleeps for us.

Gus

Gus (and all the other dolphin swim folks) Sorry that the excursion got canceled. Hope you find a suitable substitute for the surprise. I'm sure the kids will be so pyched anyway about the trip it won't be hard.

Yes we are diving on Antigua. We are going with Big Johns, it's on the site. Tell him your with the DIS group and get your reservation in ASAP. Hopefully there is room left on our boat.

Thought those of you who are parents would appreciate these:

PREGNANCY Q & A:
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?

A: No, 35 children are enough.

Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?

A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?

A: Childbirth.

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline

irrational.

A: So what's your question?

Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but

pressure. Is she right?

A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?

A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.

Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?

A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?

A: Yes, pregnancy.

Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?

A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal

again?

A: When the kids are in college.

Now that your last few days on land are here, I must add my two cents as I have been reading your thread for the last month.

We are sailing on the 28th (yes, your ship for some time then you MUST give it up) and I have been having fun reading your posts. I have able to find out when you got your docs - so we will get ours next, what your plans are for on the ship, ect. I thank each and every one of you for the entertainment and for the knowledge and fun that you have passed on to other cruisers. Even though we will not be leaving and travelling at the same time, I am excited for you that your NEW journey will take place in a couple of days.

Have a great time and we look forward to hearing about your holiday when you getback.

Merry Christmas to all and have a drink of wine in whatever you may bring (ie. a glass, a bottle or even a caraffe) and give yourselves a cheer to friendships that have formed over the last year.

Seasons best,
Michele
How nice of you, Michele!
Thank you, so much. And Merry Christmas to you, too!!! If you find a few of us hiding in closets when you get on the ship, don't say anything, okay?;)

Actually, my DS seems to have picked up that notion this year. I sent him spending money for their camp last weekend (DD used her spending money to make up the additional cost of her keyboard). He came home and told me that he bought me a present. I figured that it was a pen or something like that, but no, he pulls out a hardback copy of a Max Lucado box. He said it was on sale, but I know it still cost at least $10 of his $15, and he had also gotten his sister a Young Life pen. Right after they got back, we went to Awanas, and they had their Awana store. They earn "shares" for learning Bible verses, completing sections in their books, wearing special clothes on spirit nights, etc. He had earned 15 shares. He bought a crystal figurine for his sister, and a really pretty wall hanging for his Dad and I. He just had the biggest smile on his face at how happy he made us. I asked him, didn't you get anything for yourself? He said "No Mom. I really wanted to get you guys something." Yes, Mommy cried!
That gave me goosebumps.....how sweet! Every now and then they seem to manage to do something that pulls at your heartstrings!

Good Morning!!

Hasn't taken me nearly as long to catch up lately. You can sure tell that we're getting down to the wire!!

No word back from my e-mail to Dolphin Discovery.

I found the two gifts that I could have sworn I wrapped for the kids. Unwrapped. And in my usual hiding place that the kids have known about for years....but if I found a new hiding place, I wouldn't remember where they were!!

Guess I had better get moving too......
Have a great day, everyone.......
And, please, next Tuesday........Don't wake me up!!! :cool1:

I'm not doing so well on the hiding this year. I think Alicia has now seen everything I had planned for her stocking. Bah Humbug.

Lisa, that was very sweet. My brother was like that too, I'll have to ask him if either of his kids inherited that trait. I don't think so.

Mary, we need to plan a spot now to meet for Illuminations on the 28th so that maybe Gail can join us! Any ideas? Someplace that isn't too bad when it's very, very crowded!

Is anyone doing the Nelson's Dockyard Tour on Antigua? I'm thinking of signing up for that one, just me. Family will be diving. Trying to remember, does it involve any snorkeling or is it all dry land?

Hi Diana
We are going to be at SSR after the cruise until 1/4/05 and if it is ok, I meeeting up for Illumations sounds like fun.

I am on hold with DCL to sort out the dolphin excursion. We are not going to do the one from SM as it is 7 hrs vs the Antigua one was 3-4hrs. I can ask about the Dockyard Tour. In the brochure it is part on land and part 45 minute catamaran cruise....

They have space at both the 8:15 departure and the 12:45 departure.

Absolutely! The last time we were there for New Year's Eve, we found a spot just to the left of the American Gardens theatre. It wasn't great for viewing, but we were able to get next to the wall at least. The good viewing spots will be hard to get, people will be staking them out hours in advance. They have an extra ending to Illuminations for the Holidays, and it should still be going on. We've never really had a favorite spot (well, besides the specialty cruise that goes under the bridge), so don't know what to suggest. Hoping Mary & Mark have an idea.

Now I'm wishing I had gotten up early to call for a specialty cruise one of the nights. We have enough people. Maybe I'll call and check on cancellations.

Thanks Kevin..

I talked to Dolphin Discovery today.
They are calling me back today about the status of our reservation.
It doesn't look good for us.

Something about construction at that location.

In any event I'll have to make a decision before tommorrow afternoon, as we are leaving on the 16th.

See you all soon.

2 more sleeps.

Gus

PS......... I found my NAUI card and dive log book

Gus,
I was told the Antigua dolphin excursion was cancelled due to relocating the dolphins. Perhaps that is due to construction. Anyway they offerd us the SM dolphin excursion but we declined as it is 7hrs vs the 4hr one in Antigua and that is too long for our DD. Good luck! :flower1:
