Actually - if you pinch their nose closed - they have to swallow so that they can breathe..... You do know the Heimlich maneuver don't you?

OR...maybe I could get them to try new things the same way I get the dog to take pills. Hide it in a chunk of hot dog and smear it with peanut butter!

I wonder how shrimp tastes wrapped in hot dog and smeared in peanut butter. Scubas, you are gourmet kinds of people...how would that be? Of course, I could add some of that brown mushroom gravy stuff you were talking about to really make it fancy! ;)

Ornament exchange......

Who's interested? I would be. Any ideas of the best way to handle it? Everyone who brings one, gets to pick one? Or do the "steal the one you want from the person who already got it?"

Combine with the wine party? On another sea day? On a port day after we've sailed? Maybe after we leave St. Maarten or St. Thomas (both of those we sail at 4:30---so time to do it before the main dinner ppl have to get ready)

Ah, if we do the "steal the one you want from another" maybe the St. Maarten night would be good---it's PIRATE pirate: night!! :)

Any requirements to ornaments? Something that represents you? Your home region? Or homemade? Or Disney?

Ideas? Anyone, anyone, anyone, Ferris?

I like it. I have a teeny bit of room at the bottom of my "to do" list. Regional would be good, or Disney. It might be a girls's activity, though. I can't see the husbands getting too excited about stealing ornaments from each other, but you never know. So maybe over breakfast one morning, after we walk? Everybody that participates will just have to come walk!

Are you kidding? One of the biggest pirate:s I know is on this thread...and he's a boy....err...a MAN! :) I think if Virgil smells a chance to loot an ornament, he'll be there!

An ornament exchange sounds fun --- I was planning on picking one up at each stop so this would be a great thing to remember the DIS cruisers by!!!!

:cheer2:

Will that work? We have been on 4 cruises and haven't done many excursions. Would port days be good (or would ppl be going off in all directions) or would sea days be better (when ppl have character breakfasts and all that?)

That's why I was thinking 4:30-ish on pirate night (St. Maarten)

??????

I forgot about character breakfasts, we probably won't go. What time are we leaving St. Martin, would everyone be back at 4:30?

According to docs, the ship leaves St. Maarten at 4:30. Maybe we should do 4:45. 1/2 hour exchange should still get the early dining people to their rooms to change before dinner. Shouldn't take that long, should it?

I'm in for stealing ornaments! Well, you know what I mean......I have really got to run. I think someone spoke to me back there three or four pages. I'll be back later. I have at least got to go make the payroll tax deposit. I don't mess with the IRS!

Cute pic, Diana!!

Kids saw the pic and wanted to know what it was. I said it was your daughter, she probably had just been diving. And KT piped up "at Castaway Cay, because that is Cookie's!!!"

My kids know their DCL!!

:umbrella:

Lisa - thanks for sharing.... I totally understand.... as my older "brother" actually a cousin raised by my parents was an alcoholic..... I'm sure that you'll make things easier by sharing this information.

My DH's father was an alcoholic also. DH has a real hard time when he is around people who get obnoxious when they drink. He doesn't drink (and I don't either)....well, except for alot of Diet Coke! He doesn't mind others drinking and we are not judgmental, but it just brings back memories of when he was younger and his mother made him go into the bar to ask his dad for money when he was in there with his drinking buddies. They would always slap DH on the back and tell him what a great dad he had. And, here was a 10 year old asking dad for money so mom could put some food on the table!

I can do it. Not much to it. I'll make sticky labels to bring to the port with the date/time/place on them so we can stick them to the back of our navigators! :)

Mary, how many mini-Navigator's did you make up? That'll give me an idea of how many labels to make. :)

I'm in for the ornament swap too! We will do one for our family. It will be "swap a family ornament"

I'd love to do an ornament exchange, but since I'm not getting out my Christmas boxes this year, it will have to be something I buy on the trip. So maybe it will be the tacky one that no one wants to keep? Hmmm, sounds good to me!

Our church does a white elephant gift exchange each year for Christmas that's so much fun!!! It's the 18th this year so we'll miss it, but I've never laughed so hard.

Last year, I think I ended up with the "artistic candelabra". Someone had taken a non-functioning kitchen faucet, turned it upside down and stuck 3 broken candles in the holes. That one went in the dumpster.

DH ended up with a 50s style napkin holder and salt and pepper shaker set. We put it in the kid's Christmas store, and I think some nice grandma and grandpa got it for Christmas!

CONFESSIONS WEEK......................
Okay, here is mine.................

See, we bought this Canon Digital Rebel Camera last year for Christmas, cuz we just could never get any great pictures of Jamie (DD-12) singing and dancing and you know.......to brag about!

So, with 6 San Disk Cards, zoom, regular lense, tripod, and the works, I take about 500-600 pictures in

30 MINUTESat the kid's shows. I have become the official photographer for all of Jamie's dance stuff now.

Anyway, wanted to warn you all that if you don't like your picture taken I apologize in advance. I'll be getting lots of "unplanned" poses of you for our DIS BOARDS scrapbook (and if I can get to the port early enough, the first one will be of a tent outside the terminal!)

I have a ceramic Statute of Liberty that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. If it didn't weigh so much I would bring on the cruise and give away as a white elephant gift!
