Stacey - I know just what you mean. The President was in town on Saturday and it was crazy. Brittany and I were driving on the highway by the airport and I saw 4-5 police cars parked alongside the road. And I thought WOW what's going on(you have to understand that in this town if there is more than one police car it's a big deal). Then I remebered the President was coming into town and I told Brittany. She looks at me and says, "What would the President want to come to Waterloo for?" So I had to explain to her that Iowa was a battleground state and I think the candidates have visted almost every city in Iowa - even Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

Virgil - hope you have a great time in SF.

If you get a chance too show air force one too the kids please do. it is well worth it even at the long distance you will be at.

Our last cruise we had a pilot of #2 join us it is really surprizing what some of them really do.

gaRry - You're right about Air Force One......pretty cool! We've seen it at Andrews Air Force base. Every now & then we get the huge helicopters going over our house to Camp David. They are baaaaad looking copters!

Stacey - You've started your Christmas cards? That is a great idea vs. my normal wait-to-the-last-minute mailings.

Hello everyone,
Virgil invited me here. I have to admit, I've been reading this thread on and off for a couple of months (still haven't read the whole thing!) You guys seem to be so close--like a big family. I'm a bit shy, that's why I never joined in before. We went on our first cruise this June and immediately got hooked! Tried to book this cruise on board, but there were no rooms we all could fit in, and they couldn't guarantee two rooms together. I ended up booking in September through all seasons. I called every day and finally ended up in a cat 4 stateroom. There is me, DH, DS 15,
DD 13, DS 12. We live about 20 minutes east of Cleveland, OH. We have a 3 year old chocolate lab mix (chewed my couch to shreds when we first got her). I have some excursions booked. Still waiting to hear about the dolphin swim (they said they never received my fax). I am a domestic engineer so I have the chance to read these boards a few times a day. Wow, for someone who's shy, I sure said a lot!!

Good morning... I'm off to a conference in my home town (that I just moved from four months ago)... DD and DH are driving there on the weekend and DD is very excited about seeing her old friends... I thought I'd share an Air Force One story with you... DD and I were flying into Calgary a couple of years ago when the G8 summit was being held there and our flight arrived at the same time as Air Force One... great timing, I know... At first I thought it was pretty cool that we had such a close up view of it, but after having to sit on the plane for three and a half hours due to security reasons, the enamour faded ... It turns out I could have driven there faster... I totally understand about the security, but I think the airline could have adjusted their flight accordingly (or fed us - I was hungry!) ... Throughout the week, traffic was halted due to leaders of various nations travelling through with an army of cars. That was pretty neat - stuff like that just doesn't happen up here ...

I love all the newbies coming out of the woodwork!!! Talked to Chantal at Eli's Eco this morning and paid deposit for 7 of us. I believe the boat is all full now. I've got her wait listing two more spots for our other two adults in case anyone cancels. I think everyone on their tour is from our boards!

Well, I am headed off to in-service meetings all day long. I've just got so much to do and sitting in meetings all day is not one of my favorite things to do!

I'm originally from the Cleveland area....Columbia Station. Born and raised there Now we're down just west of Columbus.

Can't talk long.....just dropped Maggie off at the KENNEL!!!! and now it's time to clean my house top to bottom. This time tomorrow I'll be 10,000 feet over Tennessee!!!!

Welcome all!! Good morning. Another Air Force One story. Our nephew flew on #2 during the Reagan years. He was computer person. He was able to get us "fairly" close for a look at the outside of it during on CA stop. We also had the opportunity to go to one of President Bush's rallies while he was here in Portland. Oregon is also a "swinger" so we are getting lots of attention. The President is in Southern Oregon again today, but I did not want to use a vacation day to go down there. I need my vacation for Disney.

Someone said something about shopping --- I'm planning on doing almost all my Christmas shopping while on the cruise --- its a great opportunity to get some different stuff for everyone, guess I better figure out some way to bring along an extra suitcase!!!

Still trying to get my DH to commit to golf --- I know he really wants to but also wants to "save" the money. Guess if he waits too long his mind will be made up for him when there's no more space.

I'll let you all know if I ever make an shore excursion reservations ---- for some reason I can't get my family to commit to anything!!! Last cruise we were so organized, don't know what's wrong with me this time.

You're from Ohio....... my family did a family amusement park summer trip to Cedar Point this last summer.
It was great, we are going back.

Not a bad road trip from Toronto

Hi magicalfam5, welcome.
I had a great morning. Went to Curves, then dropped off my absentee ballot at election hq (will be on a Carnival 2 nt cruise to nowhere out of Baltimore) , paid the DCL cruise in full. Now to do some stuff outside since it is a beautiful day .
