Congrats! That's wonderful! What's the secret?

I need to lose those last stubborn 10 pounds. Mary's "how many weeks left till we cruise" always reminds me.

Secret?! Sufferring and torture at the wheels of those merciless machines at the gym. One hour a day at the gym plus taking the #$%&ing-dog for his #$%ing* 3-mile walk each night. That and I've eaten so much rabbit food I think I've sprung a cotton ball on my butt! So when you see a guy with his head stuck in the buffet table and shoveling all the food he can, then you'll know it's me! :D

Karen- I know how you feel . I kept telling myself there was plenty of time to lose 10 lbs. I am trying really hard this week so I can enjoy myself at Food and Wine next weekend.

Ugh! I ordered a black sleeveless dress from Lands' End. Tried it on last night. Unfortunately, my bottom 1/2 is a larger size than my top 1/2. The hip area fits fine (surprise) but the top gaps around the sleeve holes. Wondering.....do I try the smaller size or go have the thing altered. I think if I do the smaller size the top will fit but it will be snug in the waist.

HA HA HA! Hmmm, maybe that explains it. I quit Curves (no time) and I don't eat rabbit food. Well, sometimes I'll have a salad....with cheese, pepperoni, ham, croutons, peas, almonds and a lot of full fat dressing.

Btw, I think *I* am the one with the #$%&ing dog! :) And tomorrow she goes to the kennel!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :hyper: :D

Good morning fellow cruisers! I'm finalizing our excursions for our cruise & have a question for the more seasoned cruisers (with teens). What are the pros and cons of taking the early or late excursions? Will 8am be too chilly for beach adventures and snorkling?

Our thoughts are:
Key West - on our own
St. Maarten - Rhino Rider
St. Lucia - Stingray Swim & Snorkle adventure
St. Thomas - Water Island Bike & Beach Adventure

Has anyone heard good or bad things about these excursions? I think I may post this over on the general DCL boards too.

Have a great Wednesday!

Morning all! Don't remind me about paying off the cruise. I have to pay off 3 kids staterooms!!!! Then I will really be broke. Oh well.............all in the name of Disney!

Mary I pm'd you on buttons, but didn't see me on list. I'll pm you again.

Also GaRry, didn't get anything on the tshirt list. I'll pm you again too.

Okay, gotta work to pay off that cruise!

We're doing the early Rhino Rider at St. Maarten. Reviews have been great to OK.... Some just don't like running their own boat.... we kinda like the thought - so we have 2 of them booked. That'll take all 4 of us - and the snorkeling and such sounds great.

Got our excursion info yesterday and of course the gentle reminder for the remaining balance.

This morning...we're poor 'cause I paid it all off. :worried: :scared: :headache: :faint: :crazy2:

Gonna start planning and paying for some of those excursions now. Also looking at the menus from 2003! Since we booked this trip in January Wifey and I went on a diet (I lost 40+, Wifey lost 25+) just so we can order 2 of everything and gain every stinkin lb back on this cruise! Woo-hoo! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :hyper: :jumping3: :drinking1 :mickeybar

Good for you guys...that is great.
Congratulations.

You and DW are way ahead of the game, you will NOT gain it ALL back in 10 days.

Keep up the good work.

Me.....I'm on a "seefood" diet.

When I see food, I eat it.

The only reason I'm not 950 lbs is that I try to excerize occasionally.
But not often enough.

Maybe for some inspiration us DIS'ers could meet for group walks or jogs or in the gym.

That would help me.......because I'm more likely to do something as a group than by myself.

After seeing the 2003 Xmas menu, I'm sure gonna try!

Glazed ham! Turkey! Prime rib and lobster tail! With English pudding. Num-Nummy! They're gonna have to roll me out of every meal! :teeth:

I think the 2002 menu linked above has the same food(s).

dern...now I'm hungry and all I have is spinach for lunch

DH and I went on the Southbeach Diet before our Christams Cruise last year. At that point, I think DH had lost 20 lbs and I had lost 15 lbs. We went on with the attitude "I am going to eat whatever and whenever I want to for a week" Good Plan, eh? Anyway, DH gained 10lbs on the cruise and I gained 7 lbs. Not to worry, we went right back on the diet after the cruise and lost it all fairly quickly. This week will mark 1 year on SouthBeach and DH has lost a total of 35 lbs this year and I have lost 20 lbs. And, once again, we will be enjoying every bite at Christmas.

A short story - DH & I went to Palo's Brunch. He ate 4 Plates of Crab Legs as well as quite a bit of other food. When it came time for dinner, he ordered the Prime Rib, but after the first bite, he could not eat any more. The waiter was so worried. "Can I get you something else? Is it not prepared right? What can I do, I want your experience to be "Excellent"" DH finally just told him, "I have hit the food wall." And, for him that is saying a lot.

Lisa even gained weight on the curise. I think it was the Turkey dinner followed by 2 helpings of Lobster and 2 desserts. We still don't know how she physically ate that much. And DS (14) he can eat no matter where. When you see the boy with multiple entrees and desserts, it is probably Matt!

Hi All!

I'm only caught up to page 760 here...With this group it seems my choices are either spend all my time on the boards or take some intensive assignments that will help pay a fraction of our cruise :teeth:

There was an anti-circumcision protest group in front of the convention center for the entire duration of the conference. At least they were polite.

Let's see: Lisa, I'm sending Pixie Dust you're FIL's way. And congrats on the house!

Stacey -- Considerate smokers such as yourself can never be disliked! Plus you have this great personality on the thread that the only way for me to hate you would be if you stood right next to my DS (who has a history of asthma) and puffed in his face :) But he's the kind of kid that makes a big show of coughing and covering his nose and mouth when we walk by smokers...No tact at all -- typical kid. At least he seems to have mostly outgrown the asthma -- we (because I go through it with him, I can't help it!) had 1 attack (at a baseball game, of all places!) this past June, and it was his first in 3 years...

DS is 8, BTW. I'm sure he'd love to meet the other 8 y/o on the cruise. When he's away from some of his more Neanderthal friends at school, he really enjoys playiing with girls and he's very sweet. He never (so far) went through the "I hate girls" phase...I keep my fingers crossed that he won't)

Speaking of DS, he's still wearing size 5 slim. So he's not just slim, he's also small for his age...and picky about clothes. Such fun!

Doc, the hotel workers' strike is still on here in SF. I'm flying home this PM, have a safe trip tomorrow.

Mary, how about a list of when poeple are arriving / where they're staying pre-cruise for the Nov. Newsletter? I have this "breakfast at the MCO Hyatt" tradition the morning of the cruise, wondering if anyone else will be there. We'll be renting a car the day before the cruise (we're flying out on the 16th, arriving late at night) so we'll drive to the port on the 18th.

I'll stop for now. Can't ramble too much. BTW, we're late seating too. All 3 of us are night owls.

:wave2:

All this talk about food and diets! The boys will be pleased with the hope of Lobster!

Virgil: Glad you are going on the Rhino Rider too. DSs (13 1/2), DH and I thought they kind of sounded like jet skis. Perhaps we'll try for the early one too.

Off to have lunch and read the menu!

Here goes --- my first post. I've been "lurking" for years on the boards just never had the courage to post. But you all sound like such a fun group --- I want to join too.

We are definately going --- paid yesterday -- still can't believe that after a year and a half the cruise in only a couple of months away. Anyway, we are a family of 4 (myself, DH, DD14 & DD12) and this will be our second cruise, our first one was on the Magic in July of 2003 where we rebooked.

We still haven't decided on excursions, guess we better get organized. I know my DH wants to golf, he just has to spend the money, but if he brings his clubs that means one less bag for me!
Does anyone know anything about the excursions on St. Lucia and Antigua --- good or bad?

:D
