Ugh. I've been over to the main cruise board and saw the pictures of the Grand Cayman devestation. Horrific! :(

Mark has been doing a lot of the posting on that. It is really sad to think how much of that island has damage. He was showing me a link tonight to some of the pictures. Also the one local sight that has people checking in. They talk about buildings just being gone. Very, very sad. We have some wonderful memories of Grand Cayman.

Yayyyy...even MORE company at dinner...I wonder if they'll scatter us around. I can't imagine each party checking in at their PS time and saying we want to sit with the dog....:hyper:

They'll probably think everyone wants a visit from Pluto!

Darn, I wish we were getting there earlier!

As you can see, I'm home. I never did go to the office, but I did some laundry and a few other things that had been getting pushed aside.

I had dinner ready before I took Jared to soccer and that helped. I hate sitting down to eat at 7:45. But yet, we have late seating on the cruise! But that's a horse of a different color........

Okay...up to date on the note pad orders (and the free pen holder that will come with them ;) )

Off to bed....such a hard day.....

GOOD MORNING TO ALL OF THE EAST COAST CRUISERS AND ALL THE REST OF US TOO!!

Stacey

P.S. Sorry the Hershey Meet didn't work out....I know how you were looking forward to it, Mary....and the rest of you.
I was hoping to get some good stories from another DIS meet!!

Boy, you've all been busy here today while I was busy somplace else...You had more fun!

OK, (re)intros first:

Dee-- 37 -- freelance medical writer and the official Disneyholic in the family.

DH Joe -- 39 -- works for the evil empire (Microsoft). Besides being a computer geek he's into photography, hiking, and some music I really can't stand. Luckily our tastes in music to overlap sometimes.

DS -- Keith -- 8 -- 2nd grade (September baby) and gifted. BAD COMBINATION. He's also 1 rank above me in Tae Kwon Do, a fact I really have to remedy.

Lisa, keeping in mind that we probably do different TKD styles, would you be interested in training together some time on the cruise? I can bring a focus mit, or we can just kick...I dunno...anyone who messes with us?:teeth:

My instructor stressed today "Make sure you don't take instructions from her, just train together..." Our style (and I think we may be one of only a handful of schools that teach it) is American Chang Moo Kwan. But I need all the help I can get, so training together would be fun if you're interested. I may even drag Keith out of the Kids Club...Nah...just a couple of gals kicking sounds more fun :cool1:

I'll take a notepad if any are still available!

Do we want to try and get 1 big happy PS for the few of us that have 4:30 PS at LTT? And should all cruisers that are going to be at the MVHCP meet someplace before or during the party? If there is interest I can arrange for the big PS tomorrow (today?), just let me know. Or we can just ask to sit together as we check in, and take our chances!

Those of you with 4:10 and 5 PS should switch to 4:30. We're the fun time slot!!!!!!!!!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR DECEMBER!!!!!!!!!!
:jumping1:

G'night, Y'all :teeth:

Lynda - I posted it awhile back but we will be at LTT at 5.

As far as our info, I can't remember what alias I posted last time so I'll see if I can get the DW to post.

Paul

I'll make this quick since it's so late.

Me; Pam, 48, aka pamelacor, which is my name with last initial in OR, Oregon, where I've lived all my life. I work for the local County Building Department as a permit specialist.

DH; Paul, 49 next month, aka paulcrsb, his name. He is a broadcast engineer for a company that operates 2 local TV stations.

We're a Brady Bunch family. 2 are mine, 2 are Pauls. They are all over 18 and out of the house, so will not be with us on the cruise. (We're "abandoning" them at Christmas. Aren't we mean?) Kids; Alyssa-24, Keith-21, Nate-20, Kate-18.

Also have 3 cats, Cheerio, Frida and Kitty, (she came to us with that name).

This will be our 6th cruise. We are in cabin 7001.

That's all for now.
Pam

PS Stacey I pm'd you.

I like the idea of the quick re-introduction:

Jim - 43, insurance wholesaler dealing with "Lloyds of London" type insurance, scuba diver, backpacker, Jeeper, tries to be a chef and will be attending all the cooking classes on the cruise. Yes, I do most of the cooking at home between handyman projects.

Sharon - I'm not telling you her age, but she's older than I am, CPA for a private manufacturing company. Her hobby is the typical "drive the kids and keep the schedule" and how can we arrange a Disney trip this weekend.

Matthew - 14, junior master scuba diver, working on second degree TWD black belt, IB program in high school, and is starting to become a good chef

Lisa - 10, nothing comes before gymnastics, level 8 and thinking about the Olympics. She has not found a place on the ship yet to train which is her only problem on the cruise.

This is going to be our third Christmas cruise and probably our last one at Christmas time. Next year we will do something different.

Happy Thursday everyone.

I forgot to mention that we have a yellow lab named Harmony. She will be 9 on Thanksgiving. We named her after Elton John's song "Harmony" as that is one of the songs we use to hear all the time on the radio when we were first dating. We both wanted a dog after we got married. We fell in love with her as soon as we saw her at the breeder. How could I forget our loving pet??? We also have a fish tank.

I tried to make LTT reservations for 4:30 or 5:00pm but the reservationist I spoke to said since we have a party of 6 that was all she had at the time I called. I would perfer 4:30. I will call back today to see if they had any cancelation.

I was watching the news this morning and the Florida Paanhandle is getting with tornados yesterday and heavy rain this am. Pixie dust and prayers to all areas being hit with this storm. I also heard there is another tropicial storm brewing out there. What a season this has been. I hope that storms stays way out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone. TTYL-Gail

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Ivan has hit land so once again our prayers are with all of you in its parth. Glad to hear that MOST of Florida was spared. Sounds like the panhandle is getting plastered.

Stacey - thanks for the note pads and pencils. That is very sweet of you.

Gail - glad to hear your dinner went well. It's a good feeling when you can finish up a large meal for company!

Well off to read the boards and then off to work.

I was just reading the boards in regards to car service and Happy Limo who we used last August. They were wonderful but I just read some horror stories about them that have happened before the hurricane and after the hurricane. I am going to call and cancel today. I read about other car services that got positive reviews. I will use one of them. I can not afford to be left stranded and our flights leaves on the 28th at 11:30am. I read great reviews about Southern Elegance. I will give them a call today. Gail

Morning all. Dee, I'd love to do a workout together. Keep in mind that I've been "retired" from TKD since last April, so I'm not flexible right now at all! But I'm happy to work together. Maybe this will put my mind back into figuring out how to fit TKD back into our schedule? There's some space up on the sports deck that's open periodically.

Jim, I didn't know your son had a black belt? I'm assuming the twd is tae kwon do? I know that GaRry and his family are back in class. It turned out one of the students from their school had competed at nationals right before my DH. We can have a big TKD party!!

Lynda, I've been on the Key West train trip. It's really a nice option. If you want my opinion, I wouldn't book it through DCL. The train pick up is only about 1/2 a mile (maybe a bit longer, but definitely less than a mile) from the ship, and it's up a street with nice sidewalks, so would be easily accessible. You can book directly with the company through their website, and they offer a discount.

And this wheelchair accessible issue brings up a question I was going to ask all your opinion about. At our daycare, there is a lady who routinely causes problems for our one family that has a daughter in a wheelchair, and I keep thinking I should say something to her. Here's the situation. We have one handicapped spot at the daycare. There is one 2nd grade girl who is in a wheelchair. In the morning, a different family comes to drop off their elementary school aged daughter, and they wait for the middle school bus for their older daughter. This mother always pulls up directly in front of the daycare, in the area next to the handicapped spot. This area is crosshatched and is NOT a parking spot. By parking in this spot, this mother blocks the other family's ability to use the handicapped spot, since they can't open their doors and get the wheelchair up to their daughter. The handicapped girl is still small enough that her mother can carry her, so when this happens (at least 2 times in the 3 weeks schools been in session that I've witnessed, but I think it's almost every day), the mother gets the chair out, carries her daughter back to the chair and wheels her around this other parent into the center. I've talked to the daycare about it, and they say they've reminded the person who is blocking the access that she is NOT in a parking space. The person just ignores them. This morning, I almost said something along the lines of "I know that you're waiting for Anastasia's bus, but Kayla's mom really needs to be able to use this space." It's not like there aren't 20 or 30 other spaces she could use! But this mom has always thought the rules don't apply to her or her kids. Anybody have any suggestions?

OK - more for dinner.....

We have reservations at LTT at 4:25. DW is not going to the most pleased - as we get in at 2pm. Oh well.... She'll just have to go with the flow....

Lisa re: the self centered woman who obviously has no concern for others...we have alot of those folks out here, I would tell her. She is obviously not seeing the trouble she is putting the other woman into. I have actually said to these people to notice the inconsideration they are having, or report it to the police and they'll write her a ticket. That might stop her. I sound harsh but my mom needs all handicapp access she can get and we have alot of people who don't see beyond their nose. Good luck. -D

Lisa - 10,

I didn't realize your dd was only 10. We've got a good group of 9-10-11-12 yr olds on this cruise. My KT turned 10 in July. If Lisa is an emailer, maybe she'd like to email KT a bit before the cruise.

Btw, we did NOT name our dd KT. She got that nickname because her grandpa likes to cut corners when typing and didn't want to type out Katie every time! :) Of course, it stuck with KT because she is a corner cutter when it comes to writing!

I keep telling ohiomickey that we should make LTT ressies but he hasn't done it yet. Sounds like it's filling up.

Yep - I asked for 5pm - and the choices were 4:25 and 6:10. I bet that since you're a bigger group - you might have to go with 4ish.

ok after that little tidbit, I'll do our introductions. Good Morning all.
Going on our maiden voyage will be:
Me :Denise (aka:D) will have just turned 40. I'm not afraid someone must have lied on my birth certificate.:) Warehouse and production manager for local artist. Am trying to learn how to garden. Love photography, mountains, spas, and fishing.
Paul: 35 (no I'm not robbing the cradle, just rocking it a little) he is a cad designer for Aeronautical Systems . He likes mountain bikes and Brazilian Jui- Jitsu. Is also fond of football.
Sierra : 5 and a self thinking woman already. We are trying to teach her to use her powers for good not evil. She's a tom boy and out does most of her buddies in almost anything she tries. We have raised her right..she loves all that is Disney.
Kira: will have just turned 2. she's the delicate one. Fair like dad and quieter than her sibling. Loves to sing and dance. We are taking her to Disneyland next weekend for sisters birthday so we'll see how she is with the characters.
Have a great day all. Hi Ho Hi Ho....

Well, you can
1. put a cone in, or stand in the wheelchair loading area (crosshatched portion) to temporarily to block her...
2. Ask the police to come out and "talk" to her..
3. Copy the parking law portion of your local driver license test booklet using bright day-glow paper and give it to her (maybe with some of her child's artwork...or? Put it on her windshield?
4.Shoot her (well, you know I'm kidding...)
5. Put her name on a nearby parking space as "mom of the week" and then make sure someone else is always parked there that week.
6.CALL the POLICE and make a formal complaint....Depending on the procedures in your town, she should be notified by mail.

This is a serious problem everywhere and those existing on the low end of the food chain are just stupid enough to wait until it really impacts them personally...sort of like a little kid...huh?
There are any number of things your local police can suggest depending on how important (mostly not) they consider the problem to be....but if it were a fire or police lane.....

Good Thursday morning everyone!

Thought I would stop by and say hello, gotta help the numbers!

I am actually working 1/2 day today for a PE teacher, that should be fun!

Stacey- thanks for the notepad and pencil holders. I tried to buy the magnetic print paper at walmart the other day and they were sold out. I will try again next visit.

I have been pouring over the excursion list trying to make final decisions. In case anyone hasn't read DCL has change their policy to allow booking at 90 days out if you are paid in full. I can't book until DH comes home though. Those doing the pirate thing in St Lucia, which time are you picking. I think am for us.

Mary- really dissapointed Hershey didn't work out. I was really hoping to meet other cruisers prior to trip :(

We can't do LTT or MVMCP because we don't arrive until 5pm. Stupid me booked a later flight so the kids could go to school 1/2 day. What was I thinking???? I guess we could still make the party , but we are either going to stay at the Embassy Suites or go down to the Radisson. Have ressies at both right now.

Hope everyone has a great day!
