LINDA, I REALLY, REALLY HOPE YOU CAN COME. WE ALSO LOVE RACKING UP THOSE MARRIOTT POINTS. THERE IS A SPRINGHILL SUITES OWNED BY MARRIOTT THAT YOU CAN GET POINTS FOR. THE RATE FOR FRIDAY SEPT 17TH THROUGH MONDAY SEPT. 20TH WAS A TOTAL WITH TAX(AAA RATE) WAS $371.00 GIVE OR TAKE A DOLLAR. I DID NOT SEE ANY OTHER MARRIOTT HOTELS LISTED IN THE HERSHEY AREA. IT IS 1 OR 2 MILES FROM THE PARK. IT HAS AN INDOOR POOL AND I THINK HOT TUB. YOU WILL NEED A RENT A CAR. I HOPE IT WORKS OUT. WE LIVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES BY EXPRESS TRAIN FROM NYC. WE ARE ON LONG ISLAND. ON THE LAST PAGE LISA OR CHARLOTTE LISTED A LINK TO CHECK OUT HOTELS IN THE HERSHEY PARK AREA. THEY ALSO HAVE THE HERSHEY LODGE AND HERSHEY HOTEL LISTED. I GOT BETTER RATED BY CALLING THE HOTELS DIRECTLY. I USED MY CELL AS WEEKENDS ARE FREE WITH OUR CELL PLAN AS I AM SURE SO IS EVERYONE ELSES. HERSHEY IS AWESOME. TALK TO YOU SOON GAIL
P.S. AAA HAD THE BEST RATE SO FAR ON ALL THE HOTEL BOOKDING AT THIS POINT AND TIME.

My kids love animals........if you need to excerise Cash with a little walk around the ship my DD will be more then happy.
I'll supervise them of course.

Hi.. I really appreciate the offer... from all the kids.....But...

He won't go...It's the security training.. He will only obey my commands and will not go off with anyone else...In a roundabout way, this is why he has a verandah..... DCL policy states service dogs either potty in the stateroom or go for a walk to a backstage area with a CM. No way!

I put it to them this way:

#1....EEEUWWWW, not in MY stateroom! He's house trained, for pete's sake and would never, unless he was sick, do his business indoors..or off command.
#2.... A CM?... I would be more likely to hand over my sportscar to a beginning driver... and he's insured for about the same amount of money... So, stalemate...

This is long and boring but useful if your DD is interested in what Service Dogs are like...
They are not like pet dogs, all wiggly and friendly. They are very serious and reserved. They have gone through a lot of training so that they are absolutely dependable. For example, Cash has specific commands for each direction and walks a certain way and a certain speed so that he can support me. I did once let a friend's son see what it was like to walk with a "living cane" in a restaurant and it was a disaster. Last time I took him to the vet, Cash acted as though he didn't know how to walk on a leash. He gets directions through the handle on his harness and I guess he's come to depend on it when walking with someone.... After 3+ years together we are practically a unit. When off-duty and undressed he plays catch and fetches like a pro and I think he would have a great time playing with the kids when I take him "off duty". I know that all the kids on the cruise (not just the dds and ds in the families here) who have pets will get homesick for them...who wouldn't? but Cash is a poor substitute. He's a robot on duty and I'll need him to be on duty when we're out and about.... He'll be off-duty in the stateroom...He takes his job of keeping me on my feet very seriously so he needs some time off...(not to deny the fact that his "sense of humor" occasionally compels him to mash me into a pillar or door sill if I'm not paying attention, the little devil. Then he gets this AWWW, Ma, I didn't mean to do that look.)

But we did come to a resolution, thanks to the assistance of others. So, he is now Cash, the Verandah Dog, with a sod-filled litter box on his verandah. I told DCL that I would tend it and they came up with a verandah upgrade....Whew!

FOR ALL OF YOU GOING TO HERSHEY PARK-IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE YOU COULD DO PRICELINE *2 INCLUDES THE BEST WESTERN AND RAMADA INN. JUST A THOUGHT FOR ANYONE TRYING TO FIND A PLACE TO STAY CLOSE TO HERSHEY AND GET IT ON THE CHEAPER SIDE. GAIL

Lynda and Cash

I explain to my kids all the time that working dogs are different, they have a job to do, and they can not be played with.
If Cash requires any TLC while off duty.....let us know.

Have you and Cash cruised before?

Must not stay away from this board for so long...

afff, did you get your question answered about how many DVC points to buy? PM me if you have any more questions.

If anyone comes to Albuquerque for the balloon Fiesta in Oct., let me know. We live here, we could meet too!

Stacey, Alicia and I will be in Vegas the week after July4. Don't know if any other dancers will be staying with us, but maybe you could bring Jordan up there! Alicia's e-mail isn't working right now. Diana

Hi Diana, I wished we lived closer. We will miss you at Hershey. I hope you had a great week. We are leaving for florida Monday so if I do not get a chance to e mail you-I will be thinking of you.
I will try to post later?! DH and I have a romantic date tonight before I leave for Fla. He is such a sweetie. He has something planed tonight for us.
I would love to hear the review on the Best Western and Springhill Suites if anyone has stayed there in Hershey, Pa. I tried Priceline at $45.00 and $50.00 but I was rejected. Oh well. I put a hold on the two hotels I just listed.
Have a good night everyone. Fondly, Gail:Pinkbounc

Lynda - Where do I find the link about Andy/Rae's 50th birthday.....do they keep track of the possible repositioning issue?

The thread is titled:

Andy and Rae's 50th Birthday

I tried to link it but every time I tried to select it to copy, it opened the thread instead of highlighting it....DUHHHH. So, if you do a search under the DISNEY CRUISE LINE using that title, it'll pop right up.... or do a search on "Andy and Rae".

Ok East Coasters - we are booked!

Our plan is to leave Thursday night and drive for a couple of hours (to get out of the Chicago area). Drive Friday the rest of the way to Hershey. Park meet on Saturday. Sunday we'll do Chocolate World and general Hershey looking around. We'll leave Sunday afternoon and drive part way home. Drive the rest of the way on Monday!

In Hershey we're staying at the Springhill Suites.

So that's our plan! Looking forward to getting to meet everyone before the cruise!

Dancind.....I obtained lots of info about DVC thanks to you and Mary.

I also ordered the DVC video.

I will PM you about your thoughts on the best location at WDW.
Size versus Value versus age of buildings etc. etc.

How does one decide when you are 1000's of miles away, without seeing all the resorts first hand.
We will probably have to make a DVC trip to look at all the choices.

How did you decide?

Lynda...I usually can get two bedroom suites. The only room that has the outdoor patio is a one-bedroom. The patio is 784 sq feet! Lots of dog room....plus a hot tub! Does Cash have a swimsuit? No nekkeds in the tub!

Patio not necessary....Cash is with me indoors unless he is being scootered for a stroll. Mostly not allowed in "people water". He loves pools but his presence would probably violate the "allowed unless presence would create a danger to people (sanitation) or cause an alteration in the operation of the facility...." boundaries set by the ADA, so no bathers required in his wardrobe...

Cash is a cruise virgin...Boy, is he gonna get a surprise...all that water!
I did two Premier cruises when they were full of Disney characters but none since 1990.
I've been meaning to but never saw much that interested me...Now TWO this year....

Evening all!

Mary - That's great you're booked and coming.....this is going to be such fun! :)

Gail - We picked the Best Western to stay at next weekend when we take the DS's to HersheyPark for Easter. They love to swim, so a heated outdoor pool was too good to pass up. Will let you know what it's like afterwards. We've seen the Springhill Suites from the road on the way to the park...from the outside it looks very nice. It's pretty new - just built in 2000.

Marriott also has the Fairfield Inn Harrisburg/Hershey - it's about 8 miles from the park. Their phone #: (717) 564-5200. They said the AAA rate for 9/17 weekend was $99.00.

Lisa - We like Country Inn & Suites, too - haven't stayed at this one near Hershey, but in other locales. Always nice rooms, good breakfast, etc. The breakfast is a selling point for us right now.....with two DS, it's sooooo much easier just grabbing something at the hotel before you head out in the mornings!

Lynda - Thanks for the info on the Andy/Rae's 50th birthday celebration thread......found it and checked in. Wish they would just announce whatever they're going to do and get it going. ::yes::
Also, really enjoyed reading about Cash - what an amazing dog!

Stace - Your necklace sounds beautiful - will you bring it at Christmas so we can all drool??

Hi Chartlotte - got your pm and returned it.

Now its off to read the rest of the boards and then early to bed since we lose that hour of sleep.

Don't forget to change your clocks!

wow have you all been busy on the boards.
Sorry I missed chat last night took DS shopping for warm weather cloths that fit. He has grown several inches since last summer. GarRy is now on his way home from Texas. He delivered a horse that we sold to her new family. :( :( :( I have difficulty selling our horses. I guess I just get too attached.

Went shopping again today- got some warm weather clothes for DD and myself. Four days and we will be heading south. Oh I cannot wait. Only three work days until vacation!!!!

Hershey Penn sound fun. When GaRry gets home we look into it and see if we can join the fun.

Have a great night - with an hour less sleep. :o
