20040410 - Roll Call April 10, 2004 Easter Cruise!!

At this time next week we will all be finalizing our "night before the cruise" details. I hope to have had an amazing dinner and return to the GF in time to see the evening fireworks and snuggle in to bed.
My brother and sister are enjoying their final evening in WDW as we speak and are so jealous that their trip is over and mine has yet to begin. (I have a feeling I am going to be so sad when our trip is done, but I refuse to worry about that now.)
I have 70% of our stuff packed and I have ordered the appropriate gift baskets for my mom and kids. Shirley is soooo wonderful, I just love talking to her each time. My 4 yr old will be gettin a special delivery from Mickey and Minnie, as will my baby.
I hope I don't forget anything. I keep having this recurring nightmare that I have forgotten to pack my underwear!:faint:
Anyway, everyone have a great weekend and we will see you all next weekend. Can't wait!

Well next Friday isn't coming soon enough, Work has been hectic to say the least, everyone wants it NOW, even though you only have limited manpower, they don't care.

Thanks for the weather forecasts, looking at those temps really puts you in the mood for some fun in the sun. Just heard they are expecting the 4 letterword again for Sunday evening here in the NE. Will this winter ever stop. Enough already.

Right now next week we'll be in MK awaiting 'Wishes" to start. Right now I'm listening to the sound track on "Live365" internet radio.

We listen to this program all the time, it keeps us in the mood for more Disney.

Have to work tomorrow so packing will have to wait until Sunday. My daughter brought home some great Disney ties for dress up nights for me.

See everyone real soon, 6 days to go.

Good morning everyone. We are getting really excited now. This time next week I hope to be taking my early morning walk on the beach and maybe catching a glimpse of the Magic! Does anyone remember what time it pulls into Port Canaveral?

It has been a very busy week. DD has a lead role in her school play and today is the last day so maybe we can start packing tommorrow. I know my DD will want to overpack too. I think last time we went away for a week she had around 25 tops!

Last week airfare finally dropped to a reasonable rate so I talked DH into flying. So instead of a 16-18 hour drive we have a 2 hour flight! He's kinda disappointed though, for some strange reason he likes that drive. DD and I however are thrilled!

The weather forecast sure looks good. We havn't seen the sun in days and they are calling for snow on Monday. We can't wait to get some of that Florida sunshine.

Patti

Good Morning Beachbum3

Does anyone remember what time it pulls into Port Canaveral?

It usually pulls into the channel around 5:00AM.

I know my DD will want to overpack too. I think last time we went away for a week she had around 25 tops!

Been there, done that. Our DD has her day outfits, her evening outfits, flip-flops for every outfit, and more bathing suits than I can keep track of.

Glad to hear you are flying. I-95 is so bad this time of year with the spring breakers. We have a LOT of construction to widen the lanes in the North Florida area.

I'm not going to brag about the weather here. It's too nice.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Good morning Beachbum3 (Patti)

I've been trying real hard to get everyones names associated with their real names.

Anyway, IT is so gloomy here and the forcast for the beginning of week isn't much better. They're talking about some more of the white stuff for Sunday night/Monday morning.

Patti, what part of Jersey are you from, my brother lives in Jackson.

Anyway, started getting clothes together that haven't been used since last years trip, last minute shopping and all that stuff. Have to work today so packing will have to wait till tomorrow.

Everyone have a great day, It won't be long now.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

ONE MORE WEEK!!!!!

Patti - glad to hear you are flying it does make it easier.

Melissa - if Grandma is too wacked out after the drive, or needs a break on the cruise, just give us a call. MIL does childcare and loves babies. I am afraid Alyssa (my DD) might stay in the clubs all day like she usually does, and grandma might need a little kid interaction. She is suppose to be on vacation, but you can't keep her away from the kids. :)

Kelly - thanks for the weather links, it looks to be nice and warm. It is windy and cold here today.

Kenny - DH is working today also. I told him he must pack tomorrow. He said he did not have anything scheduled for Thursday so he would pack then:p . I said NO, NO, NO, - been there done that - something will come up and he will be rushing around trying to pack. So I put my foot down and told him Sunday.::yes::

I am going to see if I can see the ship in the port cam, finish reading the boards, and then start packing.

Everyone have a great Saturday.

LeiLani

LieLani,

That is real good, I had to laugh at the statement about packing at the last minute. That is a trait of mine also, I usually wait until the last minute, and I used to travel allot. I just run around taring the place apart looking for the items I need and don't have a clue on where I left them. Just call it CRS.

I am really trying this trip to pack early so on Friday morning I don't have to worry about it and just relax and be hyper about not getting to the airport on time (only 10 min drive from house with traffic) and we plan on getting online checkin (Southwest new policy).

So I can really relate. Anyway, off to work, talk to everyone later in the day, Have a good one and go out and shop for those last minute items.

Kennyk

Good morning!

I'm laughing as I read how all the girls are picking out their many outfits for the cruise! My boys don't even have a clue as to what goes in their suitcases until we get there! "Yeah, I don't care" is their basic response if I try to get any input on what to bring! Ah, the differences between boys pirate: and girls princess: !

I'm bringing my suitcases up from the basement today so I can start packing. I think I have everything I need at this point, but I'm sure I'll come across something that I'll still need to run out for.

See you all in one week!:wave2:

It has been raining for 4 days!!! Which in our case was actually a small blessing because the fields are closed so most practices were cancelled!!! I say most because DH decided to have his team practice on the blacktop, and yes... in the rain!! So a little less running this weekend, more time for the REALLY important things like the DISboards, packing, shop, clean ( I don't like to come home to a dirty house!!) and wrapping up those last minute details. Our vacation actually begins Tuesday afternoon when we pick the boys up at school mid-afternoon and head to the airport!!! I feel like we have been anticipating this trip for soooo long, Let the vacation begin already! ::yes::

Melissa, regarding the any regrettable behavior that any of us could be guilty of next week, just remember, What happens on the ship, stays on the ship!!!

Til Saturday :wave2:

Hi,
We heard that you can buy real nice sandals in Key West? My wife wamted some new sandals......
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? sandals? Where to buy, how much, etc????

Michigan is cold.....YES!!! I love it...I hope it snows ( in Michigan) while I'm on the cruise!!! Hey.......sorry, but I love LEAVING MICHIGAN when the weather is bad......

Doug,
You may be referring to Kino sandals, which are very popular in Key West. I'm looking forward to picking up a pair, or two myself.
If you want to get a sneak preview, here is a site that will give you photos and prices.
http://pcrdist.safeshopper.com/1/cat1.htm?359

Based upon what I saw there is quite a variety and they are reasonably priced too. There is a comment on the site that suggests that the prices are even better in the Key West store, which I believe is located very close to where we will be docking.

Happy Shopping!

Diana

Diana,
Thanks...that is exactly what she was looking for!!!

Se ya soon.

I'm so excited to have found this thread! One week from now I'll be sailing with all of you aboard the Magic!! Can't wait!! I would love some help with a creative issue if anyone has any ideas. Here's my sitch:
I work for Disney and have been relocating a lot lately. I am now in Palm Beach, Florida, but all my family is still in Lynchburg, Virginia. I've been here since January and haven't seen my family since then. (My family consists of my parents and my 13 year old sister.) Since they really can't take my sister out of school, my parents decided to come down for Spring Break. Originally we had reservations at Boardwalk for most of the week. However, due to some favorable circumstances, a couple weeks ago I was able to get 2 rooms for this cruise!!! I had to tell my parents (for travel arrangement reasons) but we have not told my sister. We have been on the 3 and the 4 night cruises before and they have been the best vacations my family has ever taken. My sister LOVES the Disney Cruise Line and checks all the port cams daily when she gets home from school. I'm trying to think of some really creative way to get her to the port without her knowing until the last minute what we're doing. She still thinks we're going to Disney World! I live about 2 hours south of Port Canaveral. Right now I was thinking about getting her to make a list while we drive of all the things she wants to do at the park. (Since it will be so busy she will need to list priorities) Then right before we turn to go to the port, I would ask her for the list, then ball it up and tell her we won't be needing it (hopefully I will be telling her this as the ship comes into view) I'm ok with doing this, but it just doesn't seem exciting enough for the surprise?!? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

How exciting about a DIS meet in the Walt suite!! I haven't been able to read all the posts to find out if you set a time and place for this, but if you're still planning on it, I know my dad and my sister would LOVE it! What a great surprise that would be for them! Please feel free to email me with any info if possible. Thanks so much!!!

Hi Kimi,

Welcome to the Easter Magic cruise meet board. It is great to have you and your family along.

Yes the Dis meet is on for Monday afternoon (sea day) at 1:00pm,

We'd be glad to have you join us. We have a great group of Dis'ers here on this cruise and have been talking to each other on and off since last year.

I have a suggestion for your surprise.

How about on your trip as it seems you may take the Beeline across the state to wdw. You say something like this, "Hey we're real close to where the Disney Cruise terminal is and I think the Magic is in port now. How about we take a side trip before we head over to Disney to see the ship."

Then just pull into the port, and park (parking by the way is $10/day I believe) and paid at time of entrance.

How about adding, maybe we can go inside, you know I am a "CM" maybe they're let us.

SURPRISE !!!!.

Anyway, LieLani, who will be hosting our Dis meet has a thread if you want to post to it which gives a list of all the members of your party, dining selection, kids names and ages etc.

Again welcome aboard and if there is any questions we can answer please ask away.

Kennyk:wave:

You are so funny! I saw your response on the breakfast thread. Normally, she would make sure I was wearing my coffee and juice. That is a 4yr old's job, of course. But this time she will be staying in dear ol' grandma's cabin. Heeheehee. Now you remember grandma, - now you know why. Road trip PLUS bunking with my wild little red head. She is such a character. Consider all of you forewarned.

I got word from Shirley at A Perfect Gift, that all the shops will be open on Easter Sunday. Yea! And another cruiser posted on that thread. LeiLani saw it first and invited her over, hope she does. Our group is getting bigger and bigger.

Welcome, Kimi! This is a great group of people. So happy that you found us. Idea, ask your sister if she minds going with you to meet a fellow CM who is disembarking and who you promised a ride to. Then- SURPRISE. I love when people surprise their families with anything Disney. We have done it several times. Always fun.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. This time next week we will be ON THE SHIP!! Rainforest room, here I come!

Diana, If we don't "speak" before you leave Tuesday, Have a great trip. We'll see you real soon.
See you all soon.

At this rate, LeiLani may have to move the DIS meet to the Walt Disney Theatre!!!:crowded: :grouphug: :rotfl:

Welcome aboard Cheshire27 (Kimi) Here are a couple of great sites devoted to DCL you might want to check out during our last week before we board.

If you have any questions, ask away. Someone will have the answer.

Good morning everyone! Glad to have you join us, Kimi! What a nice surprise you have planned for your sister!

For anyone that is interested in checking the weather, here is a link for Grand Cayman:

http://www.weather.com/outlook/trav...fs=&lswa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&y=7&x=8&GO=GO

I don't know why I bother checking the weather since the reports change every time I look at them! Let's just keep our fingers crossed for nothing but warm weather and lots of sunshine!:sunny:

I guess the nice thing about having crummy weather here is Michigan is that I can easily pack shorts and t-shirts, since we certainly don't need them around here!

See you all on Saturday!

:jumping1:

Hi Kimi - and welcome to the thread. I am trying to send you an email but AOL is being a little weird and says they can't send mail try again later. I will try again before I sign off and if that doesn't work I will try later this evening.

I like Kenny and Melissa's ideas about a surprise. She will think she just going to see the ship up close and then when you start taking out your luggage boy will she be surprised. You might want to tell her also that there is supposed to be a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral around the time you are getting there and you heard the terminal is a great place to watch the launches.

Melissa - I was talking to DH this morning and telling him what you said about "Grandma" and we were just laughing. We can't wait to meet her, bet she is a spry little lady.

Jeff - too funny. We are starting to get more and more people join the thread. We might have to see if there is a connecting door to the cabin next door and just open it up. I don't know who is staying there, but we will just tell them we need the space. :teeth:

Kelly - thanks for all the weather reports. I know what you mean about packing clothes. All of our summer stuff is still in the suitcases from our trip to WDW.

I will try to get out an updated list tomorrow. I found a few other DISers who are on our cruise and I told them about the thread, so I was waiting to see if they post or email me.

LeiLani

Anybody have a count on how many DIS families are going on this cruise that we know of. This is really incredible how many of us are on this cruise including all the new poster's

Melissa,

Being a "Grandpa" x2 ,myself, I can't wait to meet Grandma.
