20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

What a beautiful present!

I know what you mean about the double digits....it makes you so sad doesn't it. I don't think it ever ends...my mom lost it when my brother turned 35...and she told me she doens't want me to turn 40 (her and me both!! *grin*) - said there's something about certain birthdays for your kids that just gets to you.

I know Kelsey would LOVE to have someone else to hang out with, we could have our own little group of "mommy's helpers" here! ;)

Kim, have fun at Lion King tonight! MIL told me that it's AMAZING, let us know what you think! She also mentioned it's quite similar to the show in AK - have you seen that? We did, and I wonder how alike they are!

Kim, Have a great time at the Lion King. Judi and I loved it when we saw it in Toronto. It's coming to Detroit later this year and we want to see it again. You'll spend the night dreaming of the music and fancy costumes.

Just taking a quick break and you guys are getting me excited!! I have a friend who saw it in New York and loved it. I know my mom has been wanting to see it for a while and I kept thinking that we should plan a trip to Toronto to go, but it hadn't happened yet. I think she will enjoy our girls night out.

Nikki, we did see the one at AK last April. I really enjoyed it! Luke enjoyed it, but started to squirm toward the end. I can't believe how many people who can't believe that I am not taking him to tonight. I knew he would never sit through it!

Happy birthday to Jaclyn!

Tyler told me that he wants to go to the pool the SECOND we get on board...and THEN go check into the clubs...that's his #1 goal.

Oh, and when I explained about the Superbowl and where it's showing, he got SO worried that we wouldn't watch it with him. I promised him we would, and now he's excited beyond belief.

Can we plan to meet you there Nikki? Mickey Pool?

I tried to get the boys to PM Tyler last night and they clammed up tighter than, well, a clam! John said, "I'm just not good at these things, can't we just invite him over?" People in cyberspace are as close as next door according to my kids apparently. I'll try again tonight.

OK, confession, I didn't even know the Superbowl would be during our cruise. I had to ask my son who was playing. We will be missing the annual Superbowl party we go to. :( We don't watch all of the game really, just enjoy the company and great food. My boys don't know a whole lot about football. What kind of mother am I? We are from Hockey Town after all. Does that make up for it?

Working on the next to last posting of the official list. We'll use it at the parties this weekend as a check-in list for valet parking. I will probably put it up tomorrow.

Dean

Thanks Dean!

I can't believe I'm on a invite-only list to get into a party! Wow!

Juli

P.S. Um, what's a Jedokid? And since I'm asking, what's an LES?

A new ride, Cap? Sweeeeeet!!!!:smooth: I have a Ford Focus ZX5. Not as fancy but fun to drive!

Awright, Karyn!!! A Jeeping we will go!!!

I might have to parasail with Ann for moral support. I've done it before and it is quite the experience!:earseek:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JJ!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :jumping2: :jumping3: :jumping4:

LOL! I'll help Ty write one tonight, and that will give them something to go off of, would that help?

And not knowing about the Superbowl doesn't make you a bad mom, silly!! We're not a sports family either - the kids do karate, but our football interests are fairly new and fun...we're not super serious. But if its the Patriots... :)

Think that's cutting it close?

Tony & I went on a cruise for our honeymoon way back when. We were in San Juan wandering around and ended up in this bar, upstairs, down an alley. We followed some really great jazz up there. Turned out one of the ships musicians was playing in a local band he jammed with whenever he was in town. He said he'd keep track of the timel he knew how to time it so he made it back in time. So, we started drinking with him in between sets. Little glasses, lime juice, mezcal(sp), Ohhhh Margarittas! Finally he wanders over and says, "We better go." We get to the bottom of the stairs and he says, "We better run." So we ran with him all the way to the ship. We were the last ones on. They pulled the gangway up behind us. Turns out he did that all the time and had been left behind at least once! Better carry a watch and don't trust a local or cruise ship employee with your return!

BTW - our one and only DCL cruise, NYE 2000, we saw a famliy that had to be tendered out to the ship as it left the harbor. I think it was in St. Maarteen, may have been St. Thomas. It was pretty exciting!

Juli

Juli, LES is short for Lake Effect Snow, which we get a lot of here in Erie until Lake Erie freezes over!!!

I hope it's the new DCL video!!! I do, I do!!!!:hyper:

By the way, I ordered the new WDW video after watching the WDW Christmas Parade, as I usually do, and got it on DVD this time!!! Very high tech!!! Awesome, Dude!!!:smooth:

I think it's been about four years since we got Volvo. We really are a big company.

Hi Cap - Didn't you say you were retired? DH had been "retired" for 4 years now. It took him 3 years to stop saying "we" anytime he referred to his old company. It took him 2 to stop getting all excited/upset when something good or bad happened to them or was mentioned about them in the news. Geez. Cooporate culture can really suck you in.

BTW - I was a Ford employee myself for a few years. Parts & Service, Information Systems. That's how DH & I met! :teeth:

Oh, I was in your neck of the woods today. The Maplewood Center at Ford Road and Merriman. The boys have a gym day there every other week now.

No, I'm not implying that Ford is a chicken farm nor have I started the party early.

"Tony, can you turn the blender off over there, I can't hear myself think. It's cauzing me to mishshpell words."

That would be great! I'm sure they will write right back.

I am on my way. I will report on the Lion King tomorrow.

Have a good night!!! :sunny:

Je-Do! I get it. Cute! We have ToJu kids - no, soon they'd be Toe Juice or Toe Jam kids. Better not go with that.

How embarassing! I grew up in Michigan. Spent lots of time over by Lake Michigan. Of course I know what LES is. OK, how about "apparent wind"? I'm not sure I can explain it. It's just some silly term my sailor DH uses all the time. Do you think he's trying to confuse me?[/B]

Thank-you! That is really a thoughful thing for you to do, and I do apprecitate it.

Juli

Please forgive my last post. So, I'm not a DIS board expert. Please just laugh at me and leave it at that!

Gotta go shovel the ridge the plow just made again! After that awful post I should be give a time out from the list.

Cap - Congrats on the car. That Volvo SUV is what DH says I should take a look at. For now, I need that 8-seater people mover people affectionately call a "mini-van". I hate that name.

Kim - have a great time at the Lion King. I bet it is just mezmerizing.

Karyn,
I had to stop because my eyes were crossing and I was talking to myself, in person and on the board:rolleyes: that's 'boarding' even to me!
I don't think I'll be able to meet you, unfortunately, because the rest of our 'grand gathering' will be here by then and we will be entertaining them, sorry! We'll have to do it on board when they are busy doing their own thing! Thanks for the invite though.
Here's to a load of posts today!!!
Renae

auntrenae offered up a good suggestion, IMHO, to add to our list. That is adding a cell phone number in case anyone wants to get in touch with one of the others on the list while we're in Florida. This would be strictly voluntary and by all means, if you aren't comfortable about giving out your number, please don't. If I get a number from you I will assume you have no problem with it being added to the list.

I'll plan on posting the list again tomorrow and then once more during the week of Jan 26th, before we depart.

Karen, Karen, Karen...
How could you think it's ever cold here?
It's a sunny 73 today and supposed to be that way the rest of the week, but I don't know for next week. I'll try to hold the sun here so we can all wear cool weather clothes to play in!
Actually, I'm enjoying wearing a sweater to work in the morning, and having my car window down on the way home, just because I can:Pinkbounc I moved to Orlando because of this kind of weather. I had been cold for many years in Utah, and this is HEAVEN! I'll save some of it for all of you::yes::
