20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Hallo all -

Just a quick check in, found a neat thing at WalMart today wanted to share - a dry erase board in the form of a door hanger, you know, like the do not disturbs?

My DD has claimed it after.

$2.97, gotta love WalMart! (No Kim I didnt buy any jammies, but they had an EEORYE and a tinkerbell nightshirt...I almost gave in...*grin*)

I also scored some of those white Keds type sneakers, for TWO DOLLARS...whoo hoo!

Off to make dinner...dang it's cold out... *sigh*

I'll check the weather later, when do you leave Karyn? :)

Afternoon, group!

Scott, I DID pm you last week with the scheduled plans. If anything changes, I'll let you know.

Gary, way to go on the hats. Quite a load off your shoulders, eh? Ahem, is that the only hats you got? Can't wait for this evenings photo presentations. Sorry about the cow last nite. But, with the way beef prices have been raising, got to do what you got to do to get fresh meat. Watching the Blue Collar Group now. It is a riot.

abusymommy, welcome back!

Bobby, glad you got the link in time to see the ship. I still missed it today. I was at the office when I saw your note and then by the time I finished up, it was too late.

Jen, thanks for getting this crazy man's mind straight with dizdadof2 and dizmomof2. I was REALLY confused.

Got some last minute things picked up for the trip. You know, important stuff like red ribbon to make door ties, flamingo stir sticks, and that kind of stuff.

Karyn, Lord of the Rings is at our town movie this weekend so that is where we are spending our evening. Can't beat it - $3 each plus $4 for 2 large pops and a large popcorn. So, for $10 we get a full evening of entertainment. Won't beat some of the laughs we get here, but it is good therapy.

Have fun, see you tomorrow!
Dean

Here's to hoping that Lord of the Rings gets an extended stay in the theaters...because I haven't seen it yet, and I want to see it on the "big screen"!! *pout*

Get this...for us New Englanders...

"Potential for a significant winter storm Monday night and Tuesday "

and then...

"The weather will dry out with continued below normal temperatures Wednesday into Thursday. The next storm will arrive late Thursday night or early Friday and bring are next chance of snow or perhaps a mixed bag. However, the track of the storm remains very uncertain this far out so will not go into too much detail. "

*sigh*

I hope this is wrong...a snowstorm to fly in would make for a horribly tense and unhappy trip down.

Gary, you keep sharing your snow, stop it!!

Hey, Nikki-what's it look like for South Dakota? I can look out the door and see a few flakes blowing in a 35 mph wind. TV says we are in a winter storm area until Monday with possibility of 6". Since you are a closer friend than this bozo on tv, I'd like to get your opinion.

Renae, Well, as far as Mary Stewart goes - I've been readng her forever! My two favorites are "Nine Coaches Waiting" and "Madame Will You Talk?" AND I have most of them in hard cover. I'm needing great audio books! And I've already got all of LOTR (two editions), Harry Potter, Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, as well as a couple Nora Roberts. Biggest problem is that I'm driving w/ my mother and anything I listen to has to be a mild PG rating!

I don't know what happend - how did I get a triple post? I didn't even hit the Send button.

Umm...yeah Dean, that'd be the snow that threatens us Monday night into Tuesday. The kids have a half day Tuesday and hope for school closings...don't know why, they only have a FOUR DAY WEEK next week, then they go to FL, then school for a week, then they're OFF AGAIN! *grin*

I can't read the discussions from your area, what is the city closest to you, Dean?? The Sioux Falls one doesn't have a link to the discussion, those brats...

Karyn,
I know what you mean about needing the pg rating, I guess that means no Nora Roberts, right? *evil grin*:earseek:
You didn't mention my favorite Mary Stewart, 'Touch Not The Cat'. Did you read that one? It has a tie in to the Merlin trilogy. For anyone confused about the 'trilogy' in my title, there is a 4th book, but it's so depressing with Arthur and Mordred killing each other and the quest, I only read it once.

Karyn, I'll keep my eyes open for something meaty and exciting but not 'too' exciting...

Oooh, ender's game, I have wanted to listen/read that forever!

For audio books, I have Memoirs of a Geisha, which I LOVED...and it's pretty PG, believe me...and fascinating. HOw about Stephen King? I have "From a buick 8", which is very...well, unusual Stephen King....very "freaky" rather than gory, so unlike him. It creeped me out. I have "The Blind Assassin", which is interesting in that it's a story about a story, and it's fascinating to listen to, but I'm a HUGE Margaret Atwood fan.

hey, tell you what, check out www.audible.com and see if there's any you might like, I have so many free ones waiting that I'd be more than happy to let someone else pick - and as I can burn as many copies as possible, it's no big deal - so check it out, and let me know?

=)

Gotta go hug the woodstove, I'm so cold... *sigh*

Here goes for my slogan:
I love to cook when I want to cook, but I hate to cook when I have to cook!
Cooking for fun is great but I dread that familiar refrain, 'Mom, what's for dinner?' I want to say 'Pizza' every day!

Renae

Nikki, I'm leaving at the crack of doom on Wednesday morning from Chicago Midway.

Touch not the Cat wasn't my favorite - oh, but I told you what those were. I might like to get something like old favorites like Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre. I could enjoy them for a long drive. Oh, or I'd love one of my all time favorite books - A Town Like Alice. but I don't suppose that's available. I think I'd prefer to get a Nora Roberts - but, my mom, you know. Randy listened to one of her longer ones on his way out. I'm blanking on the name.

The only slogan left in my Kitchen is a magnet that says "Live each moment as if your hair was on fire!" Oh, and two DEAN magnets.

Well I need to write a lesson for tomorrow - it will be the last time I teach at my church - if I think about it, I'll just start crying and then I won't need a lesson. It will be a very tough day. I did really well at the packing, with my mom's help. Loads left but huge progess has been made.

Cheers to all! I'm lifting my glass of wine to all of my DIS friends - then I'm studying!

Karyn

I just wanted to thank ALL those who gave us support anf offered their prayers. It means a lot to us and it's great to see that there are still caring and decent people in the world.

Someone was asking where we were from in Ontario.....we are from Bowmanville which is just on the east side of Oshawa.

Anyone else going down the day before the ship sails ? We are staying at the Radisson (Cape Canaveral) the night before in case the weather is bad in Toronto.

Steve:jumping2:

Here they are, modeled by myself and my lovely wife!!!

Hey Steve&Lisa --
We are also staying the night before at the Radisson Resort at Port Canaveral. I thought their rate was pretty good and they are nice and close to the pier!
Are you flying in from Toronto to Orlando?
We are flying out of Detroit as it is much closer for us...however last year we flew from Toronto because the US exchange rate was too high and it was a lot cheaper to go from Toronto. Not this year though!

Dean --- I am still holding out hope for my upgraded cabin to the Roy O Disney suite.....so don't post that list yet!!! Hee hee!!!:genie:

Good night all!

I love the hats, i think i will wear a lime green t-shirt once we get on board so we can all match. lol

The boards are not at all active tonight!!

Where is everone at?

I'll be back later, i hope someone will tell me about there fun night.

Bobby

Hey, Gary and Gail, you look mahveloush! The hats are cute too! I wish I had gotten one, but on this trip we are all wearing our Hale family reunion stuff so... oh well, you all will look teriffic!

As for my fun night, it's been peace and quiet here as my dear guys are both working. Did anyone see the animal planet special about Bart the bear and their new cubs with Jennifer Aniston? Those people have a lot of guts to do what they do!!!

Renae

Steve and Lisa and Annette: We are also staying at the Radisson at the Port the night before, but our late flight won't get us in to Orlando airport until about 9 PM.
Thought it would be easier to just be right there.
We're from just outside Chicago...me, my DH and 3 year old DS. It's our first Disney cruise and we are all very excited. I'm just trying to figure out how to get everything done by the time we leave.

Mary Jo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earsboy:

Photonut: We'll be at the Radisson on Friday night too. We also have a DD who's 7. Hopefully we'll run into each other there.

We still have a couple of spots open on the private excursion to Sting Ray city with NativeWay. Anyone interested? We're trying to keep the group small. dizdadof2 and his DS will be joining us. Any other takers? :D We'd love to have a couple more dis'ers aboard!:p

Hey where's the party tonight? I survived Jaclyn's birthday party (I think...) and just got back from the hospital. Randy's doing better but needs lots of rest... He's going to try to get checked out tomorrow but I'm pretty sure he'll have to stay in until Monday. He said to tell you guys not to worry, that he will be in tip top shape by the time next Saturday comes around, and he is still able to be one of the co-captains on the speedo team...it must be all the prayers and pixie dust....

Gary and Gail you look very chick indeed...

I can't remember who posted about the books but I loved Madame Will You Talk... I haven't read it in about a hundred years but I was just looking at it on my bookshelf the other day... maybe I'll bring it with me....

Well, have a great night everyone...

Annie
