This was really a peculiar day as far as attendance at TL was concerned. The park was open from 9:00-7:00 pm so I was expecting a big crowd. It was the least crowded of any time I have been there. Im sure the weather had something to do with it because it was in the low 70s. The water was warm enough, but if you were wet the breeze made you feel cold. Besides the weather, I am sure the HUGE crowds of people that arrived for Easter break were headed off to the parks. We heard throughout the week of various parks (MK especially) being closed because of maximum capacity restrictions.
Anyway, we got up and had breakfast stopped at the Downtown Disney gas station to get a paper and cappuccino for the girls. As previously mentioned, Hess operates the gas stations at WDW now and the prices seem to be very, very reasonable what a surprise! We got to TL 15 minutes before opening and for the first time ever in our experience, they let us in early and didnt make us wait until 9:00!!!! This was a real shocker! We got our usual place and then I went to get a small locker to put my fanny pack in.
Because we were expecting crowds, the girls and I immediately headed off for the slides. I think I did a total of 9 times on the storm slides during the day, we tried the shark reef (I didnt like it because my mouth piece didnt fit right), the tube slides, family tube slide and then the girls did Kowabunga before the crowds arrived to see their swimsuits go up their butts. DDs butt hurt the rest of the day from this slide.
We never had any problems getting tubes for the creek all day. DH and the girls did the wave pool and the girls and I got one Garbage Pail (ice cream) to share.
We left there about 4:00 or 4:30 and got cleaned up for a night out. We went to Downtown Disney which was packed! You could hardly move! The wait for Rainforest Café was about 2.5 hrs but we only had to wait 40 minutes because of the Safari Club membership. There were two big fish tanks at the entrance and while we were waiting we observed that parents were letting their kids crawl up on the ledge and pound on the tanks. Unbelievable how uncivilized some people can be where their kids are concerned . They dont seem to be aware or even care that their kids are misbehaving. I would bet money they dont tolerate this in their own homes!!
We got seated but I wasnt happy with our table it was the first table as you entered and all the people in line were watching you eat. The waiter said they couldnt move us unless we wanted to wait another ½ hour!! The place was so crowded that, after being seated, DH went to the bathroom and the waiters immediately came by and tried to take his chair!
We got a free appetizer because of the Safari Club (crab dip). Cobb salad, chicken sandwich & 2 burgers, 3 fries (w/ tax+ tip = $63). This place is a bit pricey but is normally fun to eat at.
We left Downtown Disney and went over to the Boardwalk where I bought a coffee mug before heading back to the campsite.
