When i priced out a 7 day cruise i could not believe the price.$11,000 for a family of 5 in a cat 4 room. Maybe im wrong but thats very high when you could take other cruises that go the same places except castaway cay for around $2,500.Example: Carnival with upgrade to lido deck for $399.00 per person during the july 4th week. Im going on the disney cruise but having hard time understanding the high price.I know it's disney!

YIKES ... I priced out one for my SIL ... 5 in a cat 4, I recall it being about 7k for Eastern, end of July 2004. Agent highly suggested getting 2 cabins ...... might work for you? I keep hoping the pricing bubble will burst on dcl. Friends went on a 7 night rccl for less than 3 nights on dcl.

Let's face it...the prices will not be coming down much unless we decide that we aren't cruising on Disney. I refuse to cruise Disney during the summer time. Their prices are sometimes double other semi-premium lines (Princess, RCCL, Celebrity).

It's supply and demand. When our demand for just sailing Disney goes down, so will the prices.

July 4th is a holiday and you are cruisng in prime season that is why the prices are so high. You should shop around and get other quotes from other TA's. Also look into booking connecting lower category staterooms. I got a great rate from Costco on our 2 upcoming cruises.

I was going to surprise DW, DD13and DD11 with a 04/2004 spring break cruise.....WOW! It's almost double our Nov. 29, 2003 booking. I think I'll book an early "spring break". Maybe Feb. or March 04. I don't think they'll mind doing it twice in 3 months.

Whoa! We are a family of 5 who cruise for under $4000. No way I'd pay $11,000 for the cruise. Try a different week or a different travel agent.

We've cruised in July 2000 and 2002. When we tried to book for July 2004, it was WAY TOO HIGH :(
Decided to go in Sept. 04 instead and save tons of $!

Unfortunately we can only go during the summer and school holidays. DCL inflates their prices for the 3rd and 4th passenger much higher than other lines, so we will not be sailing DCL again until they bring their prices in line with their competition.

I just received my Castaway club membership, and it had a questionaire to return. I am writing a letter on the back of that questionaire, explaining just why we will not be sailing again.

Even if we had stayed with the same non holiday week next year, (the week before President's week) the price had increased between $800-1000 depending on where I was getting my prices. That is a 15% to 20% increase! I really feel they are just gouging their loyal customers, and those who have been loyal to the Disney brand.

One suggestion for cruising at a peak time. Book late.
We are on the 4/19/03 Magic. A 7-day cruise over Easter/Spring Break. We are paying $799 for each adult and $599 for each kid. Now we were only guarunteed a Cat. 11 room, but they have given us a Cat. 8 room. Maybe it is luck or the economy, but even when the DCL web site says they are sold out, Expedia still has cabins and good deals. We booked 6 weeks before the cruise and we were still able to find reasonable airfare. This is definately how I intend to cruise from now on!
