:smooth: I was wondering if it's worth waiting for the new DCL PassPorter, or should I pick up last year's edition in a bookstore? I am a newbie and just heard about the PassPorter here. I took a look at the 2003 edition in a bookstore today, and it looks fabulous. Will there be any special additions to this year's book? My DH and DD (15) will be taking our first Disney cruise on July 10.

We are driving to Chicago on Saturday to visit my son in college and I thought I would read it on the looooong ride from Connecticut, unless people tell me the new one is worth the wait. Also, is it worth buying the deluxe edition.

Thanks for any input, and forgive any mistakes I might have made with the lingo. This is all new for me.

I just ordered mine today throught the Mousesavers.com link. I would pre-order it if I were you. If you pre-order you get 30% off and it will come shortly. I also have heard through these boards that there are quite a bit of updates in the new Passporter. I got the WDW Passporter for 2003 and it was awesome!!:hyper: :wave2: :wave2: :yo-yo: :yo-yo:

I have the deluxe passporter, I love it and suggest it strongly.
Makes is very easy to keep organized!

Thank you all for your input. I think I will order it on line tonight.

Judy

Judy,

Have you checked your local library for a copy of the 2003 Passporter? You could check it out and have it to read while on your car trip. Hopefully by the time it's due back in the library, your own 2004 edition will have arrived.

I just ordered the new passporter! Judy I sent you a pm!! We'll be on the same cruise!!

one more week til i get my new passporter woohoo cant wait to get it

I'm in a bit of a quandry regarding the Passporter as well. I ordered one at the end of Feb for my upcoming trip. I leave on 4/26 and sail on 4/29. I ordered from Amazon.com because I had a gift certificate. Amazon has been holding my order for 1 1/2 months because I believe they're intending to send me the new edition. Problem is, it's supposed to ship any time now, but I can't be guaranteed that it will arrive before my 4/29 cruise. Now I'm thinking about picking up the 2003 version at a bookstore, but I love the idea of checking my library! I have a feeling I won't get the new edition before I leave.

I'm in the same boat (pardon the pun!) as you! I ordered from Amazon (Canadian site) as well for a variety of reasons: cheaper, had a $5.00 gift cert., arrives to my door and no shipping. I sail on May 2, so I emailed Passporter last month and they said that I would probably not receive it in time from them, nevermind Amazon. They as publishers are shipping out next week, and for this reason, they are not shipping to bookstores until mid May. Obviously they are doing this as a perk for those who order from them directly in that "their" direct customers will get the new editions first. In their email, Dave (publisher) said it didn't matter where people purchased their Passporters, but obviously this isn't true because if it were, everyone would get the book at the same time no matter where it was purchased. Plus, they told me that I alerted them to a pricing problem on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca in that the websites were undercharging - I didn't know what to make of this since that shouldn't be my problem as a customer as I had already placed my order through Amazon and they couldn't change my price - I guess it was to justify why their prices are higher and why I should have ordered from them directly.

I'm sorry if it seems as though I'm a little frustrated, because I am in regards to the timing of this new edition. I greatly enjoy my WDW 2004 Deluxe Passporter, but I was able to get this at the BEGINNING of 2004 (once again, it was much cheaper for me to get the Deluxe version cheaper here in Canada from Amazon.ca). It's very silly to me to publish a 2004 edition in May - the year is already half over, and cruise season is well under way. Not only am I sailing in May, but it's our first cruise too, and so we were greatly looking forward to getting this new edition.

As a Canadian I find their prices to be high even with the 30% discount, plus I have to factor in shipping and handling (not sure why they need to charge an additional $1.50 onto each order), plus Michigan sales tax (shipped to a friend), as well as exchange rate. I couldn't even have it shipped to Canada as the paperback edition would have cost me more than the Deluxe edition here in Canada!

So pardon my rambling, but I don't think that you would be able to get this new edition on time based on the info that I received from Passporter directly since your sailing date is 1 week before ours. Maybe you could contact them to be sure.

Good luck, Tiger:(

can you tell me how you've all organized this book??? i just got mine today and am overwhelmed!

I would buy the new one because its bigger and better than the first edition. ::MinnieMo :Pinkbounc ::MickeyMo
