2004 New year Cruise

I'm thinking about booking a 3 day cruise for the New Year(2004).
Has anyone been on the cruise at New Years? Can you tell me what the weather is like, will we be able to swim etc. I have two children (ages 11 & 15)who like to swim. Do they have any special New Years parties ? Need all the input you have before I book.

That should give you some idea. I'm going on the 7 day New Year's this year.
