2004-01-31 Western Cruise Afterglow

*hugs to Janice*

Thank you for the update...isn't it funny to be torn between being happy about the results, and wishing they were better...but I'll opt for the first one, and say that this is good news all around - not only is it not the thing we all dreaded the most, it's also something that was caught early enough BECAUSE of the fear of it being the other thing. Now if we can just get the treatment to be better than the disease!

I hope you're taking it easy and being pampered, if not it's time for us to all book again so we can help do it....hang in there Janice, your strength is inspiring.

- Nikki

Congratulations on the good news, Janice! Hopefully it will continue to get even better as you progress thru your treatments. Just take it easy when you are walking around the chicken poop, okay? Prayers are still with you.

Renae, glad you got the photo and liked what we did. Now it is your turn to send us some of your warmer weather up this way.

Nikki, keep up the posting! It's still nice to "see" a familiar face talking about something we just went through. I think all of your comments and recruiting for DCL on the REAS should have gotten you a commission if not a free trip!!

Gary, any word from Karyn and Randy yet? I've sent her a couple of emails but they have gone unanswered. Hopefully, it's just because they haven't gotten settled in yet. Tell Gail "Hi" for us!

Still lurking in the background,
Dean & Cheri

  You're too kind! *grin* I'll take one if they offer, if not, I'm just happy to help!

As to the continued posting...it's more a matter of me refusing to accept that it's over. Ah, self delusion on a grand scale, how wonderful is that! *grin*

Hope it's not too cold up in your neck of the woods, Dean...here in Boston, its feeling like spring. NOT because of the weather, although it has been warmer...but the allergies have arrived. *sigh* *sniffle* *cough* No fair. I say we go on another cruise to fix it.

(Yes, that's my answer to all my problems now...I figure one of these days someone will take me up on it and it'll be worth it! *wink*)

I still check the posting just to see who is still around.

Friends are now booking their trip for May and we have sent all the paperwork from the ship to them (still have not get that scrap book stuff done). Navigators (glad we kept some) and ship news.

Hope you start feeling better Chickelady and the drugs kick in.

At lease I'll be back in the magic Kingdom in few weeks. Not quite the Wonder but a good second place.

Ranae keep that warm weather for me.

Staying at the AKL for a rest and then to CSR for work and finishing with a couple of days at the new POFQ to see what it is like. Anyone stayed at the CSR ?

Do the rooms have internet at CSR?

No mention in the thread about Eisner?

Mike

Hi everyone - here's hoping all is well with all of you ... Janice, that is such great news... you're still in our prayers as you go through the treatment... keep us posted!!

I got some good news today... no, I didn't win a Disney cruise... but, I received a permanent position with the company I've been working temporary for ... the only thing is the assignment is an hour and a half from where we now live so we will likely end up relocating if Randy can get work there as well ... Jaclyn's being a real trooper and although she doesn't want to leave her friends, she's excited about the prospect of making new ones...

We are wondering when the reunion cruise will be?? we need to start planning...

Take care everyone and have a disney day...

- Annie

Good morning!!! TGIF!

I hope everyone is doing well.

Janice, that is great news!! I hope they get the medication straightened out so that you can get completely well soon!

Congratulations on the new position, Annie! I hope Randy finds something so that you can move closer to where you will be working.

It's nice to see so many still checking in. How cool! :smooth:

I hope the move is going smoothly for Karyn and Randy! I hope they get the computer hooked up soon so they can say hello :wave2:

We are having a heatwave in Pittsburgh today, it's going up to 74 degrees. Then the temperatures start to fall and we may have snow flurries by tomorrow night :earseek:

We have special plans this weekend for our anniversary. Luke is going to Nana's house for a sleepover and we are going to our favorite restaurant on the South Side! And we just planned a delayed anniversary trip for October (actually it will be my birthday then, 39 for the 1st time!) DH had some USAir miles that he wants to use before they could possibly be lost, so he booked us a 4-night trip to Grand Cayman!! I am looking forward to going back. I love Seven Mile Beach!

HADD and have a good weekend

Seems we had a great group for the cruise. Haven't seen any other posting from past cruises that keep going like this.

Karyn and Randy, good luck with the move and hope you get your computer up soon or you will have to spend the first day just getting caught up.

I am now book at the CSR for the first week of April - it does have high speed Internet in the rooms and work seems to think that is important. Only have 2 days now at POFQ to check it out.

Heat wave here in Toronto today +13 C.

Mike

I've heard from Karyn and Randy. The job offer for Randy fell through and they're currently touring the west coast contemplating their options. They say HI! to everyone.

HADD!!! :wave2:

That's ashame about Randy and Karyn. :( Although I think sometimes things happen for a reason. I hope that whatever the reason for this... that everything comes out better in the end.

I will send some pixie dust :wizard: and prayers their way.

Glad to hear their well and looking at options. Always look for the silver lining.

Next to Disney the West Coast is not a bad place to be contemplating things.

When you hear from them again please pass along our best wishes and thoughts.

Mike

Sending good thoughts to Karyn and Randy, how unfair a turn is that... :( Any updates?

I just wanted to share our newest member of the family, we got her March 7th, just barely 8 weeks old...

BuddyPixie.jpg

The big one is Buddy, I know I shared stories about him with some of you guys...the little one is Pixie (ie. Pixie Dust)...she's so much fun to come home to that I am distracted from missing my fellow cruisers and the ship. That is, until she got hold of one of the flower leis from Tropical night, and I had to chase her around...for a pup that is only about 1 pound, she's tough and quick!

Hope all are well...so how many of us have rebooked? I swear I'm tempted every day...waiting for the school calendar for next year to be available online because I can't find the paper I know they sent home!

Hi Everybody!

I just love it when I log on and see a post on this thread. This was a really great group of people and I'd love to go on a reunion cruise with all of you. (Even though we were wall flowers!)

Hope Randy and Karyn are making the best of things. How overwhelming all this must be for them. I would be a wreck.

Glad to hear that you had some good news Janice even though it was tempered with a new hurdle to go over. Now you know what you are dealing with right? I'm wishing you a swift recovery!

Pixie is adorable Nikki. This is the same time of year we got Hetti last year. It was a lot of fun running around the house with her...it still is!

We are booked on the Eastern DCL 12/10/05. We are waiting for the summer '05 itineraries to come out, but it will have to pretty spectacular for us to go in summer. We love summers in Michigan and it's tough for us to leave. I toyed briefly with going on a 7-day Western on HAL with a fellow DVC member. I enjoyed the dream in my head until we went over finances. No single cruises for me for a while. I would really like to go on the 4-day sometime, either with the kids or without. I have no idea when I'll be able to do that. How's about we plan a "women of 1/31/04 4-day cruise?" I'm discriminating here guys, I'm sorry. We still love you.

TTFN,
Juli

Hi Everyone - here's hoping all is well...

Pixie Dust and prayers are being sent Randy and Karyn's way... I hope they find something even better than what was in the works in Seattle... I hope Randy and Karyn log back onto the boards once they get settled...

Nikki, your pup is very cute... I'm not going to let Jaclyn see it or she will really want one, too...

We re-booked for the Christmas cruise and the Feb. 12th so I hope to see all of you on at least one of those...

- Annie

My Hidden Mickey is all but gone now. I'm scheduling a hair cut for the week-end and that should be it.

We're getting lots of snow today! I hope this is the last snow storm of the season (PLEASE!!!:hyper: )

Tonight our beloved Disney Store closes it's doors for the last time. I will be there to say goodbye to all the wonderful CM's htat worked there. Gail and I considered them as friends. They always were glad to see us and wanted to hear all about our trips to WDW and DCL cruises. They and the store will be greatly missed. I just don't understand how Disney can keep the hockey and baseball teams and close Disney Stores. Don't they understand how we connect with our local stores? I couldn't care less about the Ducks and Angels.

OK, off the soap box. Take care everyone!

HADD!!! :wave2:

Gary,

I think a lot of physical local stores are going the way of the buggy whip. Internet stores are replacing them.

The Carribbean seems a long way off, in miles and time, when I look out the window at the wind and snow today. I suppose that is part of the reason we like to go on cruises. If it were warm and sunny here in winter, we wouldn't want to cruise.

12-15" expected here in our neck of the woods too, this afternoon and overnight...and I was out Sunday raking the grass and enjoying the warmth. Just not fair. *sigh* But you're right Cap, it's what keeps us appreciating the warm climes, and motivates us to book more cruises so I'll be quiet about it now.

Watched a Travel Channel special last night about haunted places and they went to the haunted Hard Rock Cafe in Key West, and showed the Ghost Tour that we wanted to take...did shingle ever go on that?? If so how was it? Kelsey was really upset after seeing it that we chose the Superbowl instead. *grin*

Back to work... *sigh* :wave2:

We are getting the same snow storm here. 15-25 cm (under a foot) by tomorrow AM.

Does anyone have a picture of downtown Key West they are willing to share? I have pictures of most places but not Key West.

Enjoying the warm afterglow on a cold March day.

Mike

Depending what part of the pasture you measure, we ended up with 15-22" yesterday from what was to have been a light dusting of 2-4". Glad we could share it with everyone.

Dean

Mike, I think I have a photo on my cell phone of the sign board out front of a store in Key West showing the temps in various places, but that's it... (It was 74 in Key West, and like 24 in Boston) The one below *points* of the kids in front of the Magic is in Key West! :)

Gary & Gail, today was "cool hat day" at the kids school, and Tyler wore his blue hat...so I had to say thank you!

TERRIBLE commute home...I skidded and fishtailed all over the place, it was pretty frightening actually, the snow came on fast and hard. *sigh* Glad to be home safe. Hope you're all the same.

Who wants to bet if the kids have school tomorrow or not...knowing their superintendant, I bet they do...don't tell 'em tho...

HI Everyone!
I tried to post my pictures from the cruise and I guess it didn't work right! If anyone would to see our pictures, I can email them to you. ( I do have a picture of the Conch train in Key West and the dog with a cat and 3 mice on its back!)

Send me your email address if you would like to see our pictures and be wanting to go right back on the ship like me!
