$200 gift card for dining plan?

I think I have read something about this before, but I can not remember. I am booked to go to Disney is Feb. and will get the $200 gift card when I get there. Can I add the dining plan on to my stay and use the gift card to pay for it. I am hoping a Diser out there can help me with this one.

From what I understand about the promotion you don't get the card until you check in to the resort. So you couldn't use the GC for the addition of the dining plan because you would have to pay that prior to your arrival. I believe you have to add the dining plan 3 or 5 days before arrival, not sure which because I've heard both.

I recall asking this question when I was considering going under that promo and the CM told me no for the reason PP cited above. But he did say it could be used in the restaurants if you don't go with the dining plan. I was hoping to use it against the price of DP too...

Thanks, I was not sure if you could add the dining plan when you arrive. I did not know you had to add it days before. I guess that is a way for people not to use the gift card for the dining plan. Oh well it would have been nice.

The dining plan is part of a package. So you have to add it well ahead, IF a package for your dates is available.


Unless you are staying at a DVC resort using your points, but they still need a few days notice that you're doing the dining plan, and then you just pay for it when you check in, BUT you can't get the package plan with the giftcard if you're doing that.

I am using mine to pay for the gratuity on the dining plan.....
