200 air miles because I have an Amex! Score!

I just received an email notifying me that I received 200 air miles as a holiday gift from American Express. The 200 hundred is already showing in my balance!

Holy whack-a-moley! I just checked my account after pouting that i didn't get the e-mail, only to discover that i got 400 from AMEX plus 50 bonus for doing "BLACK FRIDAY MULTI USE BONUS" WOOT, thanks to all these wonderful December deals i snagged 1,500 this past month alone

ANd i'm now an ONYX as well!! We just got back at the beginning of November and already have enough for 2 flights!

Did you get an e-mail from AMEX? Or did it just show up in your air miles transactions?

I just checked my AM transactions and I don't have a bonus from AMEX.

I got an email telling me I was getting 400 bonus...that was kind of cool, and I don't remember getting any last year this way.

I am about 500 away from Onyx but the deadline is Dec. 31...I'm afraid I won't make it! I still have a bunch of December bonus miles to come in, but will it be enough? I didn't realize about the looming deadline until I logged onto my account today. Hoping my monthly bill award will go a long way towards the shortfall.

I have the platinum card and prob earn around 3000 a year from that. I have never received this bonus from Amex before and have been at gold status for at least 10 years. I'm at the Onyx level now and thought that perhaps that had something to do with it. I also wonder if the number of sponsors shopped at have something to do with it....that's at least 12 for me.

I'm either going to make it to Onyx or have already...checked my account today and I seem to have enough as the Onyx total was lagging behind the regular tally...did a Rexall 20x shop yesterday, LCBO run, Shell fill up and Metro for groceries to make sure though. Will buy our NY bubbly and gain a few more along with another Shell fill up tomorrow or NYE. Saving for WDW tics...love to redeem for them...feels like even more of a bonus!

How does the gold/onyx work? All I keep seeing is that you have to earn the 1000/6000 in a calendar year. But does the level carry over to the next year? So for those of us that just reached gold/onyx this week do we lose it come Thursday?
Also does it give discounted rates on disney park tickets when redeeming points?

For gold you have to earn at least 1000 miles and shop at 5 sponsors or more. The points are earned in a calendar year and then the status is for the following calendar year....it might be March to March but either way you have the status for a year. Onyx is just 6000 in a calendar year.

Perk wise, yes, there are some but you would need to read about it on the site. They do offer some discounted reward items but I've never seen WDW tickets.
