I'm reading throught the menus and have a question. When it says Disney Dining Plan 20% off does that mean if you don't want to actually use your table service meal at that restaurant they will still give you 20% off or that you just get 20% off?? I'm seeing this at Boma's and 50's Primetime.

Also, Do most of you use your table service meals for the evening meal? I'm trying to do this the most economic way possible. I was thinking of using a table service for one breakfast, lunch and dinner but am wondering if it would be cheaper to just use them for all dinner meals??

So far I have breakfast at chef mickeys, a lunch at 50's primetime and still am trying to decide on a dinner for the day we go to Animal Kingdom.

Can you tell us where you are seeing this 20% off? I am not familiar with it.

For our family, we tend to do TS midday. By midday, we like the break that a TS gives us. We sit in lovely air conditioning, have a good meal and a nice break. We may tour more after or we may head back to the resort and hit the pool or nap or just hang out.

With a good midday meal, wee are not hungry for dinner and just have something light.

That's Disney Dining EXPERIENCE (recently relabeled Tables in Wonderland), not the Disney Dining Plan.

The DDE/TIW is a discount card some Guests (locals and AP holders, maybe others) are eligible to purchase for $65-$75 and which provides a 20% discount on most table service and a few food court purchases for the next 365 days, including bar drinks.

Note that there is a mandatory 18% service charge added to any check for which the DDE/TIW discount is incurred, on the pre-discounted check. THEN the discount is calculated on the purchases, then the tax is calculated on that.

glad we can help sara :) we were all newbies at one time (that was before the addiction kicked in, mind you :lmao: )

Ask anything you want, we are all here to help :hippie:

Nothing to be sorry FOR!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Disney changed the name of the Disney Dining Experience because of the popularity of acronyms combined with the confusion between DDP and DDE :)

The cost of the card is $60 for AP holders and $85 for FL residents. They calculate the 18% on the actual total before sales tax and the sales tax on the lower amout before tip. That's how ours was calculated just to let you know.

It was changed 2 days before we went in September and very few of the servers even knew what it was. I had to explain at nearly all our meals. It was comical.

So now we need to call it TIW. :lmao:

Nah, TIW is lame :teeth:

Our server at Le Cellier said one of the managers there had started calling it T-Dub ("dub" for the "W" in Wonderand). Works for me. Now all I need is an AP...
