This is the week I saw The Grocery Game really pay off. We had stockpiled most stuff, so I only had to buy 2 gallons of milk, Nesquik, chicken and eggs for the week.

What's working for us is seeing the sales....even with the fliers, you don't see how much things are marked down, and where the outside coupons are offered. That's a lot of the leg work that the game does for you , so you just have to plan and shop.

this week, the menu was

Sun: leftovers
Mon: Pot roast and veggies
Tues: Jambalaya with chicken and shrimp
Wed: Chicken pot pie
Thurs: Fish, salad and rice
Fri: leftovers or hamburgers/hot dogs with green bean salad
Sat : Crepes
Sun: Turkey breast (to also be used as leftovers for the week)

Breakfasts were cereal/bagels/yogurt/coffee/egg sandwiches/waffles/bacon combos

Lunch was turkey bolgna sandwiches, soups, salads, and leftovers

snacks were popcorn, fruit, cheese, grapes, pears

What is he grocery game? I am interested.

Same info matching sale and coupons is all over the net at sites like afullcup.com for free- no reason to pay for it.

I did the grocery game for a while but now use SouthernSavers.com. For one thing, SS matches the coupons on the day the new sales week starts (local store is Wed-Tue) while GG doesn't match them until Sunday, a full 4 days after the week starts and after many things are off the shelves already.

thanks for the info on the other sites....I'll take a look.

One thing I like a lot about the grocery game list is that it lists the original prices of things and figures out the percentage of savings. That makes things a lot clearer for me on knowing when to buy.

It also lists the exact date the coupon appeared in which Sunday supplement.

it's a web site that lists all the sales in your area, and indexes the coupons available. It breaks down a strategy on how to save, as things go on sale about every 12 weeks.

It made me pay a lot closer attention to buying things in bulk when they were really reduced. For example, it stocked up on buy one, get one free pork chops and roasts.

After a few months, you start to see the pattern, so that's been really helpful in my meal planning.

They also list CVS sales and many other stores, and list items in blue when they are the optimum time to purchase them.

You did great.:thumbsup2

I love the grocery game.

I love the grocery game.

Thanks! What do you find is most helpful with it?

For me, it was looking at my pantry before making the menu. Before I just picked any menu that appealed to me.

I have no problem paying for it because they do all the work for me. My coupons, my store sales, all I have to do is show up and shop. I've tried the other sites and it's too much work for me and I don't keep up with it.

I am another person who doensn't like the Grocery Game because of when they list their sales, which is Sunday. I shop at Food Lion and Harris Teeter and their sales start on Wednesday, so it is useless for me.

I use Afullcup.com and also weusecoupons.com

At both those sites, most of the members do the legwork, so I just log on and create my shopping lists from those. They also do flyer matchups and link where to get the coupons whether they are online, instore or inserts.

:)

That would be harder. Our sales run Monday through Sunday, and the list comes out Tuesday afternoon, so it's still plenty of shopping time.

Hotcouponworld.com is another free site. It has matchups for many grocery stores. :thumbsup2

I used the Grocery Game for awhile...it's especially good for someone who is newer to couponing. However, in my area, the info didn't come out until 3 or 4 days AFTER the sales had started...by that time, many of the products were already out of stock. They used to offer a free 1 month trial...not sure if they still do that or not.
