20 Cans of Tuna

I like tuna casserole as well and it doesn't matter in that if the tuna is highest quality of not. In a tuna salad you want the albacore. In a tuna casserole, the chunk light will be wonderful. I hate cream of anything soup, so I make a bechamel, put in sliced mushrooms, tuna, salt and pepper. Mixed with cooked pasta of any kind. layer in a casserole dish and top with broken potato chips and bake. My children (who do not like tuna) eat this up.

My boys love this too - my mom used to make it for me and she used a white sauce/ I make it with thin slices potatoes ( I use my food processor or a kitchenaide slicer attachment) instead of the potato chips to make it a bit healthier, but it take longer to bake.

as crazy as this sounds Tuna macroniea and chese like a box of craft and peas all mixed togter is awsome. also tuna and noodles Tuna helper is good to like hambeger helper but tuna helper. I like tuna a lot as an aspie tuna is the only fish i will eat lol

Drain (squeeze) the tuna, put a little lemon (just a dash -- or it's optional) on it, fold into sour cream in a saucepan, with some dill (weed, but seed also okay, just crunchier), add a little parmesan, heat it up and serve it as a gravy over baked potatoes.

Probably could put it over mashed potatoes, but I've never tried that (maybe I will try that tomorrow). Tried it -- works fine on mashed potatoes. Doesn't really even taste like tuna, but there is a little texture to it.

OP - try contacting "The Food Thing". http://www.foodthing.org/ There are a LOT of needy people in Naperville and the surrounding areas that this truck helps!

If I wanted to donate the tuna to a food pantry I am a semi-regular (4 times per year) donor to loaves & fishes, which is a local food pantry. I know for certain from the annual report that they have seen an 800% increase in requests for services.

My #1 charity is RMHC and I was looking to get a little variety in my normal Ronald McDonald House menu. Those that provided recipes, thanks. I read some that sounded both easy and like they may be crowd pleasers.

I love love Tuna. I asked my Mom to only send tuna sandwiches to elementary school every day all school year! I hate Peanut Butter and grape jelly, just yucky!!

We currently happen to have to ask for a food box or two every month. There is always a jar of peanut butter and grape jelly which Dh and Dd really enjoy.

But there is only 1 can of tuna!! most times the tuna is packed in water which can be used for sandwiches. But some times it is packed in oil then Dh has to strain it and wash the oil off and then disguise the tuna in some kind of Tuna Helper type meal for me.

All of this is to say Please Donate the Tuna maybe I'll get two cans of tuna. And that would be so appreciated!!

Whatever you decide, you are Doing A Great thing Cooking for the Ronald McDonald House!

Tuna Pasta Salad

Cook up some small shell shaped pasta
Chop up some red onion
Combine with:
Thawed baby peas
Canned tuna
Chopped hard boiled eggs
Mayo or plain Greek yogurt
Spice with salt/pepper/garlic powder/a dash of cayenne pepper

Refrigerate until cold. If it becomes dry (from the pasta absorbing the mayo/yogurt), add a but of olive to refresh.

Serve on lettuce, with tomato wedges

Here is a tuna casserole that I have never ever met a man in my life that doesn't love it.....even if they hated the tuna other people made them (and they weren't just being polite either :rotfl:)

2 boxes Mac n Cheese
2 cans tuna
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
half soup can of milk
2 Tablespoons of butter, margarine
Bread Crumbs or Parmesean cheese
Spices for your taste (I use a cajun spice mix, but any type of spice without added salt is good)

Cook macaroni according to package, but do not overcook (keep mac a little al dente), drain. Add hot macaroni, drained tuna, soup, milk, butter and 1 package of the powdered cheese mix, along with any added spices you want, you can add a little more milk if casserole is a little stiff. Place into casserole pan and top with breadcrumbs or parm. cheese. Bake at around 350 or 400 untill warm througout and bubbly.

Wait, no matter what the cost, why would you buy some thing you hate?

Okay Everybody

Here is your challenge. Come up with some sort of recipe that I can use 10 or 20 cans of Tuna. I hate Tuna. I will never eat Tuna. I bought Starkist Tuna for 34 cents a can today, and figure I can use it to cook at the Ronald McDonald House.

So I know you Budget Minded folks will have some great ideas. If I don't get any good ideas I will just donate the Tuna to the food pantry, or give it to a teenage trick-or-treater.

thanks in advance

I'd make my standard Macaroni Salad and serve it as a side dish: cook elbow macaroni, drain. Add drained tuna, mayonaisse, chopped onion, chopped celery, a couple of chopped hard boiled eggs, a squirt of mustard and a squirt of vinegar. Add salt and pepper, stir, refrigerate and serve as a side dish for picnic food.

My mom used to make tuna salad that way - I'd forgotten over the years. I never liked "crunchy things" in these type of salads, so she'd saute them in a little butter first - same flavor, no crunch.

Cook 8-12 oz noodles (wide egg noodles work best). In a casserole dish, add cooked noodles, a can of tuna, a can of condensed mushroom soup and a dash of pepper. Cook, covered, in oven for about 30 minutes or cook in microwave for 6 minutes. You can add a crushed cracker topping if the family likes that during last five minutes of oven cooking with lid off.

I make tuna cakes... I make a pan of corn bread (I use the box mix) and crumble up half of it, mix with 2 cans of tuna, add my spices and cook like you would crab cakes.

Wait, no matter what the cost, why would you buy some thing you hate?

Because I bought it with the intention of using it at the Ronald McDonald House. For the record, I also cannot eat tomatos, mayonaise, salad dressing, peppers, onions, beans, or bread--I have some interesting dijestion issues; however I frequently purchase all of those also when I cook for others.

I just needed some tuna recipes that are essentially guaranteed good, since I won't be sampling it while cooking I didn't just want to try any recipe.

My mother likes tuna, but I really doubt others will like the way she eats it. She strains the tuna in the can and eats it out of the can with a fork--to me handing people cans of tuna and forks for dinner does not exactly seem like a lovingly cooked meal. :lmao:

LOL My son eats it straight from the can!

He also likes it with Mac and Cheese (i make homemade or he makes himself a box) and he just stirs it in. He will eat it too with egg noodles and lots of butter.

Holy cow that's cheap! You can sell me your tuna. Tuna packed in water is over $2 a can here when it's not on sale. Even on sale, it's usually more than $1.
