20/30/40 and free dining????? (update post 11)

The old adage proves very true.. "If it seems too good.." Disney has had two policies for as long as I"ve been on these boards..

1. You can't stack discounts. You may qualify for 5 discounts but pick ONE and choose wisely.

2. Free dining reservations are ALWAYS at rack rate.

It doesn't matter what you were told, it doesn't matter if you recorded the call.. Disney can and does correct these errors and how on earth they managed to get that into the system when you can only enter one discount code per reservation is way beyond my head. (Anyone who scored an online reservation for a studio at BWV for 75$ a night a few years back can attest to this correction policy)

Historically speaking - free dining reservations are ALWAYS at rack rate..

Book it if you wish - but do realize that all reservations and such are subject to change (ie: correction) and this one just screams that it would be corrected. That language is right in the terms and conditions on all reservations... especially where packages are concerned.

Sounds to me like they have some newbies fresh out of training on the reservations desk there today.

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well. This is way to good to be true.

It was too good to be true. Just got off the phone with another rep who said I could book either the free deluxe dining or the room rate discount, but not both. I'm sticking with the room discount.

It does sound to good to be true, but....

If she were to book and pay for it, then how can they change it? Once you have bought and paid for it, isn't that some sort of legal binding contract? It's like buying a car for $20,000 and then x amount of time later, the dealer coming back and saying you owe more...

Also, if it turns out to be an issue, I would speak to a Manager and even call the credit card company....

Couldn't you just book that one (in addition to your original), and if turns out to be a problem, cancel it and apply the deposit to the original?

Isn't Disney the place where dreams come true???

I say go for it!!!

This isn't necessarily true. My party was misquoted a price for our 2007 trip, after confirming repeatedly that the quoted price included the DDP. After getting a email confirmation to the contrary (dining plan wasn't included), we called back. The original phone conversation was recorded on their end, and after a supervisor reviewed what the CM had said to us, we were given the DDP for free, plus an additional sizeable discount to our vacation.

Of course, we got lucky in that the conversation was one that was recorded. Hope the OP has the same good luck if it's a mistake :thumbsup2

Not to put too fine a point on it..

But Disney packages terms and conditions clearly say "Subject to change revision etc."

Now once it's paid in full.. it gets a bit more complicated for them.. but I have seen reports on these boards that they still changed it.

In this case.. I would have been very surprised if a) it actually managed to go thru their system and get booked given that they really do insist on only one offer/discount per booking and b) if it did.. that they didn't catch it and change it promptly.

Sorry, MagicKingdom05, that reality bit you in the butt  But at least you are still going to Disney and you did get a discount :goodvibes

At least you got a nice discount on the room. :yay: I had my fingers crossed for you getting both, though.

Aww shucks. Well if your staying deluxe the room discount is probably the better deal.

I believe so, plus without the discount we probably wouldn't be staying in a deluxe. Who knows when we will get a pin again giving us between 30% and 40% off the Contemporary, plus with a then 2.5 year old and a then 10 month old you can beat the ability to walk to and from Magickingdom for naps and stuff like that.

Am I missing something here? I have never even heard of FREE deluxe dining (let alone the combining of discounts with free dining which sounds like it did get straightened out). Is this something new or are these CM really off base?

Ok I know that Disney SAYS you can only use ONE code at a time HOWEVER they do sometimes sprinkle a little pixie dust around!! My friend had a 40% off code and wanted to book free dining as well so he called to see which one gave him the best deal and the CM put him on hold and came back and said that he could have both! He took both and went and had a great trip (and inexpensive as well) Last year we had a trip booked with a pin as well and when we called to change to free dining instead we too were put on hold and the CM said it was our lucky day and we could have both. Of course they are probably only able to offer so many so if you call another CM and ask if this is possible of course they are going to say no.

Just believe what they are offering, it is a little Disney magic and it doesn't get offered to everyone so grab it and enjoy!!!

Bummed you didn't get both, but have a great time anyways! :)

Their isnt.. but you can upgrade and pay the difference.

...the very nice CM was looking up the information and asked me if I new that there was a pin for free dining on our account.

Hi, all. I'm totally new to this...trying to plan our family's first vacation to Disney and somehow keep us from breaking the bank! ;) These boards have been so helpful already...but a bit overwhelming. I've heard multiple references to these "pins" for free dining. Can someone explain? What "account" would these "pins" be on? Thanks for any insight on this! As a newbie, I'm trying to get up to speed on this lingo! :goodvibes

I am intrigued with the free deluxe dining. Congrats to those that have lucked out with the double discounts before:)

I say book it. Once you have the confirmation, they would have to honor it. Just make sure you get confirmation.:worship:

Agree!:) I just can't worry about everything. Great things CAN happen to you...... BUT, if you don't want it to, I suppose you can't be forced to let a great thing happen to you.:)

I was thinking the same. Just the free deluxe dining threw me.
