20,000 leagues to be filled.

Well, one point was that it was THE slowest loading and unloading ride on property.
I think the now defunct Skyway was slower.

I don't know, the Skyway was at least a continually loading and moving ride. The submarines had to stop, completley unload{which was extremely slow} and then reload {also extremely slow} before the vehicle could move again. I know someone lurking about these boards probably has guests-per-hour figures on all the rides. It will just be a matter of time before that person notices this thread and digs out the facts and figures and posts them here.

Since nobody has responded with actual numbers, the only information I have is from the "Unofficial Guide to WDW and Epcot"(yes, that is the official title) from 1989. I also have the 1994 and 1995 version and all have the same info.

Anyway, they don't give guests-per hour outright. But with a little number crunching:

submarines - 750 people per hour
Skyway - 600 people per hour

Ed

We heard from a CM on our last trip that they plan to sink the submarines in Bay Lake to create man-made reefs for the fish.

betterlatethannever, you've got an '89 Unofficial Guide? Wow. Those are hard to come by.

Thanks for reading the Guide.

Its interesting that, on the Theme Parks Forum, posters find it funny that there are people who think that WDW is only MK. Based on the 1989 title, back then it seems to be fact.

When did it change?

Chunking in some semi-related info as I always like to do... Before bumping up to 16 Dumbos, the old 10 Dumbo version only moved 400 guests per hour.

Pteranodon Flyers at IOA moves fewer than 200 guests per hour.

I really miss 20000 leagues :( I have some great momories of going on it with my grandmother in 85. She was in her seventies then and partially wheelchair bound she would get out for the unaccessible rides. Just for nostalgia I wish it were still around so I could bring my kid on it. But he votes for nemo anyway LOL

Yeah, I really do miss 20,000 leagues. I am only 18, so I was somewhat young when that ride was still going, but I loved it. It was always one of my favorite rides as a kid, and its absence saddens me everytime I go to WDW :(

18 huh? Well im only 16 and even i rembember it. I always thought that we really went all the way under the water until one day i asked my dad when we were on the sky way why i could still see the top of the sub. It was then that it all became clear. But i still miss it and it always sent a shiver down my spine whenever i saw it just because its like it has died. And i would always hope that maybe the next year it would be open cause its serving no purpose and its better to have it running than sitting there. But now its really gone and im a loser cause im crying now but i really miss it. I always like the mermaids. They were my favorite. The squid freaked me out but i got on it anyway partly because i had to but really because i just wanted to see the mermaids!pirate:

Thanks for those stellar words of wisdom. I'll try to remember them in all my future exploits.

Sorry for a side question--what is up with this quote? Can you not access this page from work or something?

I didn't care for it much either--but do miss it as an important part of MK culture--like the now defunct Mister Toad.

At Disneyland Paris--they have one of the subs-not sure if it is from MK, but you go down and tour it--we got to it to late and didn't get a chance to see it, but my heart wasn't too broken.
