I haven't been to Epcot since they had just opened it. Can't really remember much about it. Is there really much there that a toddler would enjoy? I think my DD will like the World Showcase if they sing and dance alot over there. But I was just looking at Future World- and besides The Living Seas- I'm not sure really what she'd be interested in.
Any input???

thanks!!!

I agree there isn't much my two year old DS was into in future world. We did the Living Seas and Journey into Imagination. My DS loved the musicians in world showcase. He also enjoyed coloring the mask at the kidcot stations. There are also characters in some of the counties. DS also like watching the fountains. DH & I just like to stroll around epcot and there seems to be enough going on to keep ds happy in the stroller.

thanks Tabitha!
Do you think it was more of a 1/2 day park?
My dd is all about coloring- so she'll probobly like the masks too!

I agree there is not much for a 2 year old to do but I still love the world showcase so my children have to do it. We took our DS when he was 1 1/2 and there was something to do in each country for kids. He loved the boat in Norway and there is a train setup that the kids love to watch. Italy had a get street preformance that included kids. We have great picture from there. They also have a great firework show at night. You might go there after lunch and nap and do the world showcase and diner and watch the show.

Depends entirely on the kid. Mine loved the place at that age, esp. "Honey, I shrunk the audience" and the whole Land Pavilion (the ice cream social is the perfect try-it-on-for-fear character meal experiece, not that it's a meal, of course.) Splashing in the fountains and chasing the twinkles in the lighted sidewalks were also big hits at that age. The ride in the Mexican pavilion is also nice for little ones; just a nice pleasant boat ride w/ music.

He's six now, and Epcot is still his favorite park. He loves the newer big rides, but would mutiny if I suggested skipping Energy Adventure. (Love those Fantasia dinosaurs!) His favorite things in World Showcase are the model trains outside Germany and the pastries at the French pavilion, plus Illuminations, of course.

MagicPrincess,
I would say you could do a lot in a half day if it was the afternoon/evening half. Like Megan suggested after lunch and some rest at the hotel go over to Epcot and spend the rest of the day there. I think Epcot is almost always open til 9PM, so you can get quite a bit done in the second half of the day, if your DD can stay up that long. When we have taken our DS that is what we do mostly because all the other parks are closing earlier in the evening. So we do one of those in the morning take a break and then go to Epcot in the late afternoon.

we love Epcot, I can't really tell you what we do, it's more of a walk around and soak up the atmosphere kind of a place, but my dd has always enjoyed it. In Future World, she loves Spaceship Earth, ice Station Cool (no idea why, but we always have to visit), the Land (but not the show with Pumba and Timon, it's an enviromental film and a bit loud and boring), the Living Seas, and Figment in Imagination, in fact we pretty much head to the right as we enter the park, there is not a lot on the other side that appeals to her.

we usually have a meal somewhere in World Showcase, the Tappanyaki in Japan was a big hit because they cook the food right on the table, she thought that was excellent. She just had plain chicken and rice, nothing particularly japanese, but it was still cooked on the table with our japanese food.

She also loves Mexico - there is a little boat ride in there, similiar to Its a Small World but smaller, and she likes that it's always nighttime in there.

Norway has another boat ride, but it features the trolls quite a bit, and there is a drop (not that big), so it depends on how brave your dd is. There is also a nice play area here.

China doesn't have much for kids.

Germany has a little model railroad, and a shop with the most amazing teddys, and some incredibly expensive dolls - definitey not a place to buy, but fun to look. We all enjoyed the buffet there at the Biergarten, if you time it right there is a show while you eat.

Italy - we have seen a really cool statue perform here, and also some people in venetian masks that were great to watch.

America - not a lot here for us, the american adventure is Very long and dark, quite a good plcae if you want her to nap, and also the only place on the world showcase for reliably 'american' food, so if dd is fussy this is the place to eat

Japan - we like to browse the shop, and we have seen some cool drummers here

Morroco - we have seen a few neat acts perform here, but we don't spend a lot of time. One day we must eat here.

France - you can sometimes find some characters round the back behind the shops. The pattisiere is very nice too :)

England - one of my least favorite pavilions, probably because we are English, but the shakespeare show can be funny, we have spotted Eeyore here before, and Mary Poppins, and sometimes there is a Beatles band playing

Canada - I'm afraid by the time we get to Canada we are usually beat, so we tend to use walk on through, I promise to pay more attention to Canada next time

DS was 3 on our first trip, and he loved and still loves Epcot. I treat it as kind of a break from some of the other places. The ride in the ball up front is his favorite. It is slow and can be boring, but he loves it.

I will add that we have seen some neat characters in Epcot, and because of where they are, there isn't a lot of other people and he gets more one on one time with them.

At the back of Morrocco we have seen Alladin and Jasmine. Of course Mary Poppins in England.

In England and Canada there is some great music. If your child likes music, try to check it out.

The drummers in Japan are always a hit with him.

Have Fun.
