2 yo DD is 40 inches tall....ne 1 else?

I'd say go to a carnival by your house first. It's summer and they're all over the place. See if she'll ride any of those rides, then that'll give you an idea of what she can and can't handle. I'm in the same boat as you. Last year DD didn't like anything that went up and down cause she didn't like that feeling in her stomach. This year though she rode all the rides and then some!

I really can relate to all this. My 12 year old is 5'8" and my 8 year old is 5'. I SWEAR!!!
Although my boys are giants, I never put them on rides just because they were tall enough. My youngest has absolutely zero fear factor, loved Superman ride of steel at Darrien Lake, he just turned 4, went down with his hands up over his head the whole ride. I was the one freaking out on the ground, :scared1: but his giant smile getting off told me he was fine.

It's their call, just use common sense with the "thrill seekers". Just because they are big enough, doesn't mean they are old enough!!:thumbsup2

I also have a tall daredevil. The only ride she has said that she has been scared of is Dinosaur so we avoided that one. She also had to be taken out of It's Tough To Be a Bug when she was 2. Although this might be common, it is a little creepy. I would skip that one. Other than that, we let her go on anything that she asked to go on...even at 2.

You're all lucky that you need to decide what is appropriate! Our peanut didn't reach 40" until she was seven! *eek*

She was good about it, though, and absolutely thrilled when she was tall enough for the Disneyland mountains and ToT.

She was still 1/2" too short for RnRC during her first visit to WDW last December--at age 9.5!

I agree with the other posters. Height does not make maturity. I wouldnt dream of taking even our five year old on some of those rides. However, my ss was 3 and had me on the tilt o whirl. So..yeah, dont play it up (that tends to scare them) and see what she/he says. At 2, I wouldnt stress what rides they go on..not that you are..

Maybe it's the G-force she might not like that feeling. Just a thought.

so she finally went on Mission Space for the first time this last trip - and she loved it....AND we found out why she didn't want to go on it before --- she thought she had to put on "one of those ugly space suits" :rotfl:

now she is just waiting for RnR

i think whatever she feels comfortable one is great. you are SO lucky your kiddos are tall

my son who will be 6 in 3 months is barely 43" and my daughter who will be 3 in 3 months is only 31-32". my son would LOVE to go on some rides and can't :( he just doesn't understand. i just wish they were taller :D

My DD is 2 and is almost 38", so not quite as tall as your DD. She likes riding "Goofy's Barnstormer," but that's about the extent of the "thrill" rides we've taken her on. I think that she would probably do OK w/Splash Mountain once she's 40", but I would skip Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain for a couple of more years.

Wow! My son is 4.5 and he is just now 40" tall, but he's a peanut.

I'd say you have to take her individual personality into account and start slow. Warm into the thrill rides and see how she does. Start at peter pan, then snow white, then pirates, then haunted mansion, then maybe splash mountain or thunder mountain.

My DD was 2 during our April vacation she was 41 inches. She rode Soarin' and loved it!!!! Rode Test Track and didn't love it. She rode ToT with her teen brothers and dad, she didn't cry but she told them when the ride was over and I quote "I want to get off, NOW!" She calls it the up and down ride. She told me yesterday she wanted to ride it again next week when we go but we will not be allowing her back on that ride. We may try Splash Mtn but not Space, we will let her look at BTMR and let her make her mind up, I would rather she skip it this trip.
