Where does your two year old sleep when you go to Disney? We will be taking ds when he has just turned 2. He will already be in a toddler bed at home, but I am wondering what the best sleeping arrangements will be for a travel. I am considering bed rails.:confused3

Our ds coslept w/us but the Disney hotels all have pack 'n plays if he'll still fit in one. Disney can also provide bed rails (there was another thread here recently touching on this) or you could rent a toddler bed from www.abbf.com if you want it to me more like home.

When dd was still 2 and was in a toddler bed at home - we put her in the pack no play provided by the hotel at WDW. Then - the last time we went - she and her brother slept together in one of the double beds - her side had the guard rail up.

I would say you could go either way - whichever way you think will give you the BEST experience on vacation.

BTW- dd still occassionally slept in a pack n play for naps at my sister's house when she slept in one at WDW, so we knew she'd sleep in it ok- so she was still used to it. If you plan on doing that - maybe a few naps in the pack n play to keep her 'in the habit' of sleeping in one might be a good idea until you go...

If he will do it, I would use the Pack N Play provided by the resort. We did this with our 2 yo, but she was still in a crib at home. I think that the containment is safer (it was nice in the morning, too, since she could stand in it and talk to us while we dressed, but she couldn't wander around the room).

My 2 yr old slept in the reg. bed with his older sister. I never thought about bed rails so he didn't use them but had no problems.

When DD was 22 months everyone was raving about the Ready Beds so a couple days before our trip I bought one (Pooh) and shipped it down ahead. DD loved the box (kind of like a purse) she love playing on it, she would hug it. But sleep in it? Not a chance LOL. She slept with me - no problems. It was just me and her, in a Queen bed. If it were me and DH and her - it probably wouldn't have worked - and it definately wouldn't have worked in a Full size bed!

You could also wait on the move to a toddler bed until after you get back so that a pack n play still seems normal. I'm trying to remember when we moved DS out of his crib. It wasn't as early as 2. I think closer to three. He was not a climber and was/is small for his age.

You didn't mention what hotel/motel you were staying at but maybe you should call there and ask some questions like: can the bed be moved against a wall?, do they have bed rails?, do they have a crib/playpen?) Another thing I recall hearing about is a service near WDW that rents out baby equipment, sorry I don't recall the name (they deliver it/take it after).

If the beds are large enough and you know your child doen't move around much then maybe putting a few extra pillows on either side of the bed (not up by his/her face) might stop him/her from rolling off.

We used the pack and play (provided by the resort) for our daughter. She was still sleeping in her crib at home and this worked out great. We also requested the bed rails in the event that she did not like the pack and play. She had never slept in a pack in play until our stay at Disney.

When DS was almost 3, he slept in the PNP - his choice. He had been in a bed at home for a few months by that time, but when we got to OKW he wanted to sleep in the PNP instead of sharing a queen bed with DD. I know, he's weird! Even later that week at AKL where we got bunkbeds (every kids dream, right?) he wanted to sleep in the PNP.

On our next trip he was 4 and he slept in the bed with bedrails.

Our DS, almost 3, is still cosleeping. I'm in his bed, which is a regular full sized bed, rather than having him in our bed.

When we went to Disney, we were perfectly comfortable to share a bed.

We are a family of four (me, dh, dd-6yo and ds-2yo). Ds will be turning 2yo during our December trip.

We partially cosleep at home, but in a queen bed. The rest of the time ds is in his crib.

We decided to stay at POR and request a room in Alligator Bayou. The plan is to have ds sleep on the trundle bed, dd sleep in one bed and dh and I in the other.

It may or may not work out, but if necessary dd and ds can sleep together w/ bedrails (ds moves a lot so I'll put one on each side!).

I'm not even considering a pack n play.

Another idea is one of those toddler ready beds. Get it a few months before and have your child use it some before the trip.

The full size beds are too small for me & my kids! It's ok, but DS turns sideways and DD flings her arms out in the middle of the night, generally into my face. Not my idea of sleeping. :) It really depends on your family.

At home we have a king bed, and there's enough room for us, 2 cats and one kid if she doesn't hit anyone in the face.
