I am starting to get really excited about my tirp! Luckily I have a long weekend getaway to Ottawa to visit friends the week before I leave, so that should help make the time go by quicker!
I (34) am going down with my mother, who works entirely too much and does way too much for everyone, plus she is dealing with her elderly, depressed mother, so mom is definately in need of a vacation!
We are flying out of Boston early Saturday 2/24 and going to Tampa for a few days before heading to Orlando. Mom's best friend lives in Tampa, so we thought it would be good to go visit her for a few days...plus we won't have to pay for a hotel there
! I don't know what we are going to do in Tampa (I am a huge hockey fan, so I may go to the Lightening/Penguins game by myself on Sunday and let mom have some BF time with her friend...we shall see). I think it is going to be lots of relaxing by the pool or at the beach. Maybe the aquarium or Busch Gardens, although I wasn't all that impressed with BG the last time I went.
We are leaving Tampa after an early lunch Tuesday and driving to POP. I love this resort! So fun and colorful. Mom would have liked to stay at AKL or WL, but that is just not in the budget, so POP it is. Tuesday we plan to take it easy and perhaps just take the busses around to the different resorts. We did that at Christmas a few years ago and I think that was the highlight of mom's trip. Tuesday night we will go to DTD and shop and eat and then we have tickets for Cirque du Solei. Mom has been wanting to see this forever so I hope she enjoys it!
Wednesday we plan to go to EPCOT. Mom is psyched that they have a SOARIN there now, so that will be a must do early on in the day (maybe several times that day), although she thought it was going to be SOARIN over Florida rather than California...oh well, she still loves it. We will check out all the normal epcot stuff and then watch Illuminations at night.
Thursday we will be doing AK/MGM. I am dying to see the new Nemo show and mom loves the Lion King show. I am still debating on whether I will do everest or not. I love Space Mountain, but I HATE the first big drops of a lot of roller coasters, so I don't know. Would like to try it, but not sure I will have the nerve when I get there. At MGM we have lunch reservations at 50s PTC. I have never eaten there and always wanted to, so I hope we like it. Mom really wants to see the Beauty and the Beast show and then Fantasmic, so it should be a good day.
Friday, our last day
We are doing MK. We don't really have anything special planned for that day. Just walk around, go on favorite rides, the usual.
Saturday...check out really early and head to MCO for our flight back to Boston and the cold weather.
So, I am really excited about this trip. Mom really needs it and I am a teacher so it is good to get away just recharge! Of course, I am a worrier, so I am thinking of all the things that could go wrong and not let us go! Bad weather, illness, etc. I try not to think about that kind of stuff, but sometimes it just pops in...I will just have to keep happy thoughts. I think I am going to go shopping this weekend to get some new shorts/capris to wear. That will make me even more excited! Can't wait!!
