2 weeks until we will be at WDW and I'm second guessing my dinner choices.

We have ADR's at Planet Hollywood, Teppan Edo, Captain's Grille, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Kona Cafe.

We've eaten at Teppan Edo and Whispering Canyon Cafe before but the others are new to us.

Any opinions about the others?

Thanks for your input!

Ive been to the PH there several times, but this was WAYYYY back in the days when my nearly 17y old was closer to 7 than 17:lmao: So things may have changed. But I'll never forget how I fell in love with Crunch Chicken:lovestruc

We have always enjoyed the food at WCC. Some waitstaff are better than others and that can make the meal alot more fun. We love Kona Cafe and are going there once for breakfast and once for dinner. Yummy, yummy:drinking1 :cake:

We just ate at Captain's Grill two weeks ago and enjoyed it. Everyone's different. Look at the menu and decide for yourself...don't let someone else's bad experience sway you. We had an early dinner reservation at 5:20 and by the time we were done the place was packed!

I'd rethink your Planet Hollywood choice. We've eaten there twice (thinking the first was a fluke,) and we'll never eat there again. I thought it always looked neat, and we always get those voucher's, but the food is only at best average and the service is horrible and slow(at least both times we were there.) The first time we went was with a larger party (total of 7) and we ended up missing Fantasmic, because it took us over 3 hrs. (from the time we sat down to the time we were walking out) just to eat. The second time we went it was just my husband and me, but again the service was bad, and it was again VERY slow. In my opinion the ppl are rude and just act like they don't want to be there and are very upset about having to work.

I've never heard anything good about Planet Hollywood and Captain's Grille just got a horrible review on the podcast http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-podcast/

I don't want to scare you or get your nerves going any more, but personally, I would rethink those two.

I wouldn't put too much credence in the Podcast reviews. They lost all credibility with me, when they complained that the Gratin de macaroni (baked macaroni w/ cheese) at Les Chefs de France wasn't more Americanized.

I agree with others on PH. If you've never been, it's a fun atmosphere to experience once. I wouldn't go just for the food though.

The review I am referring to is about really REALLY bad service; it has nothing to do with the food. (Im going to have to go back and listen to the review you mention because I can't imagine that one!)

ETA: I listened to the review of Chefs andit was an extremely positive review, and the review did not complain that it wasn't Americanized, he said he assumed it would be prepared with cheese on every noodle, but it was not. It was not in any way a complaint that it wasn't American enough.

I'm sorry that you feel I've lost my credibility but I think that if you go back and re-listen and/or re-read my review, you will see that I said I didnt care for it.

I never complained about the way it was prepared, just that it wasn't to my taste. I was excpecting something other than what I received and admitted that it was my fault in ordering the dish.

I also dont care for lima beans, but I wouldn't complain about the way they are grown.

It was just a matter of personal taste....nothing else. If stating that makes me less credible, then so be it.

I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, but I must admit that I find it odd that anyone would go to a French restaurant looking for Americanized Mac-n-Cheese. I'd be extremely disappointed, if that's what I received. I can make that at home, & get it many other places. I suppose it is a matter of personal taste. The CdF version would be more to my taste, if I were dining in a French restaurant or just about anywhere.

Just so others know what we're discussing, here's a quote from the review I noted:

The baked macaroni and cheese was less successful. I think this was more because I was expecting a more Americanized dish. This was large pasta tubes cooked in a cream sauce and then baked with a layer of gruyere on top. The dish was very, very rich and filling but if you have your heart set on something more traditional, then you might be disappointed. Please understand, it wasn’t bad, just not what I was expecting. A portion of this entrée was left behind. The other two plates were sent back empty.

ETA: OP, sorry we derailed your thread. Now, back to the topic at hand.

I have to agree. I have gotten sick every time I have eaten at Planet Hollywood. The food is just awful IMHO.

PH...IMO Stinks.....why do you think they give everyone PH coupons every time you come to the world??? Everything there looks and tastes like it came out of a TV dinner box........I wont set foot in there ever again.....

I have never eaten at Captains Grille??

Good luck trying for a new ressie though....I have called several times and cant get squat (ohanna, Whisp. Canyon, Boma, Captain Jacks).......I am booked at the Wave for our last night, but I am going to cancel it......menu doesnt look too good.......

I applaud your desire to try new places. That being said, I'd think about switching PH. I've been to several and the food has always been disappointing. Other than that, I haven't been to any of the places you've listed.

We've been on the dining plan the last 2 years and this will be our 3rd. We said that we wanted to try new places every visit, but of the 8 we are on this time, only 2 will be new, and none of them the ones you've listed.

I would definitely skip Planet Hollywood. I wouldn't eat there again if it was free! We went last August with the $15 vouchers that they handed out and the food wasn't just mediocre-it was downright disgusting! I think I had a turkey sandwich (what can you do to that?) and the bread was about 10 days old and the turkey was questionable. It wasn't just my meal either-there were 5 of us (including kids) and nobody like their meal. Service wasn't great either. Go in and look around if you want to check it out, but eat somewhere else!

BTW, skip the rest. and just go to the store and buy the tshirt if you want to say you were there!!!!!!

Thanks for posting the quote from my review.

I thought questioning my credibility because our opinions differ was a bit harsh.

As you find my actions odd, I will exaplin that I didnt go to Chef's De France looking for Americanized macaroni and cheese. I ordered based on the following menu description:

Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese.

From that description, I expected that the cream and cheese would be mixed together and thought that sounded delicious.

Instead, the pasta was cooked and served in cream with a thin layer of gruyere baked on top, similar to the was french onion soup is served.

I found the cream sauce much too rich for my liking and the preparation unexpected.

As you have already posted and I stated in my review: "Please understand, it wasn’t bad, just not what I was expecting."

I certainly hope that this helps you find my reasoning and explanation less odd.
