2-way V mobys

We are looking into whether to buy 2-way radios when over in Orlando or use mobile phones.

Our mobys are dual band so we would have to upgrade - too expensive!!
Looked into the 2-way option and see there are some cheap deals to be had.

However, now we've read SimonV's comments regarding hire of cell phones whilst over there we are now also considering that option.

Has anyone gone this way?

Does it represent better value/convenience than 2-ways?

Can anyone help with further info - particularly on voice call and text charges?
