Just back from BLT and BWV. Went April 25 Sunday for 1 nt at BLT in a standard studio. When I checked in they said they gave me a 14 th fl studio upgrade for the nt with lake view. Didn't like the set up with the bathroom and kitchen and the bathroom door. To us the views don't make up for the lack of privacy in the bathroom. You can hear everythng going on in the bathroom. Before we went I read a couple of threads here about being able to compromise a little. For $18000 you shouldn't have to compromise because the view is good. This is just a poor design. This is a room for 2 people only.
Pictures in link below.
We moved to BWV Monday morning about 10 am and they said my room was on the 1st fl.standard studio. Not good been there, done that. told the CM that booking at 11 months out at 9 am should not get me a 1st fl room. I had requested 3,4,5th fls but they had nothing noting that.
Make sure when you book that your request are noted because they didn't note mine. I asked if any thing higher was open and she checked and nothing available. I said OK but she knew I wasn't happy but hey things happen.
Anyway we waited till about 2:30 and I went to check on the room with another CM to see if any thing opened up. She said nothing else available but my room was ready and it faces the keister coaster why would I want to change. I guess the 1st CM upgraded us to a pool view. The room was still on the 1st fl but we didn't know till we got in it that it was a HC room. No problem with this HC lots of room to move around and for 2 of us plenty of storage room. Shower was no problem at all. I don't know why people don't like the HC rooms. I heard so much bad about them that I wouldn't have taken one if I'd known ahead of time. DW would have liked more storage but it worked out just fine. If all the HC are like this I would stay in one again.

We had a similar experience when we booked a Standard View studio. Our room was also a ground floor HA room but in our case the room faced the back of the pool bar. We were told that it was classified as a Standard View because it had an obstructed view of the pool.

I don't like ground floor rooms but it turned out OK. Not many people walk past that area so we didn't feel we lacked privacy. I did not like the HA room however. There is hardly any storage space in the bathroom, just that tiny shelf so most of the stuff we use in the bathroom had to be kept outside the bathroom. It was inconvenient. It's a huge bathroom and they could have provided additional shelves but did not do so. And with the bathroom being one large room, you can't use the vanity if someone needs to use the bathroom or wants to take a shower.

There is an armoire rather than the usual large closet you get in the other BWV studios and it is already pretty full of stuff (vacuum cleaner, pack'n'play, ironing board). If you want to hang up any clothes you have to unload all that stuff and pile it up in the corner of your room. It really bothered me to have to work around (and look at) all that stuff all week. Again the room is large enough that they could have provided more storage space but chose not to do so.

Also there was no safe in our room.

The problem that a lot of people have with the HA roll in showers is that they require the user to be pretty careful where they direct the spray. With no lip, the water can hit the shower curtain then run onto the floor. Generally, I try to always spray the water towards te back wall, and rarely do I get water on the floor.

Also, people wth young children want a tub, and HA studios don't have tubs. In larger units, some HA rooms have lower counters, so young kids can reach the stove controls.

But for all adults in the party, I have no problems on the rare occasions I receive an HA unit.

Funny, I love the ground-floor rooms at BWV. Easy access to pool, boardwalk, etc.... rather than walking those long hallways down to the elevator each time!

Off to go check-out your pics! popcorn::

Nice photos, paults, but did you notify the front desk that you actually had four more guests in your villa? ;) Rocky made himself right at home.

I just took a look at your photos and it looks like you had the same room we did. I was told by the front desk CM that it is in fact classified as a Standard View room because of the view (the back of Leaping Horse Libations).

Love the photos, especially of the ducklings. It's amazing that they got so close! So there is at least one advantage of a ground floor room.

Love the pics:thumbsup2. I had read and seen the floor plans of the BTL studio which talk about the kitchenette/bathroom sink. But this is the first time I SEE what you all have been complaining about.:scared1: Those two areas being right next to each other is just NOT RIGHT! Eeeewwww. Mental note, no BTL studio for me.:sad2:
But I do hope my waitlist for a 2bdr comes through for Thanksgiving.:worship:

thanx for the pics:)

ive escaped 1st floor rooms thus far, more of a security issue for me (real or perceived, regardless;))

confused re the comments re BLT studio upgrade (from standard) as to layout/size. Im probably not reading ur right here...is this a general opin as to size? (i thought all the BLT studios were laid out exactly the same:confused:)

I loved your pictures, especially of the Electrical light parade! Thank you for sharing them.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. I will try to remember your pictures whenever I'm tempted to see if there's a studio available at BLT for any vacation. Aside from the points which are dear, I just don't like the layout. However, we had a 2 bedroom dedicated there, and while there were issues with being able to open a door while another door was open, in the hallway, I forget now exactly the issue...I do love the location and some of the things about BLT.

I don't like the first floor rooms either, esp. the ones that face the pool. First time we stayed at BWV's years ago we had lost guests banging on our sliding door at 1 am. Took forever for all of us to get back to sleep after that incident as the same guests came back AGAIN about 15 minutes later, still lost, so I kept laying there awake wondering when they'd hit our door a third time. I'm sure we weren't the only ones disturbed that night. Since then I always request a higher floor location.---Kathy

I actually request 1st floor rooms lol I guess that is why we have gotten them 4 out of 5 times ...no one else wants them ;)
