Just back from 9 days at POR (9/10/04-9/18/04) and this place was wonderful! This was our first trip to WDW so I really don't have a lot to compare it to, but my family of 5 was really happy here. The CM's were very helpful, the room (building 27) was beautiful and close to the quiet pool and the laundry room and just a short walk to the main building and bus stop. On our 2nd night there were notice that the beds seemed higher and discovered that new matresses/box springs had been placed in our room (and a new shower head too). I didn't realize how comfortable that bed was until I woke up today at home with my usual sore back. I just called POR to see what matress they were using in building 27. Lisa (in mousekeeping) is on a golf cart right now going over to our old room (#2720) to find out for me! Just another wounderful cast member at POR! I just love this place! Happy to answer any questions you may have.

PS: The cinnamon rolls in the food court here are terrific! I'm glad that I did not discover them until 2 days before we left :earseek:

We have always loved POR! The food court is great. Lots of choices. Not too big, lots of charm. Glad your stay was so wonderful.:)

Thanks for your report. We are looking forward to our third stay at POR in December. Always has been one of our favorites.

Yeah, new beds! Thanks for reporting back to us. Could you tell which sections of the resort they are working on. Mansions still? We will be there in 4 weeks...can't wait!

Hey, we were there from 9/10-9/14!! Probably saw you in the food court and would never know it!

You know what? Our beds were higher than a normal hotel bed. I wonder if we had new mattresses too or if they are just naturally higher. They were really comfortable too.

Man o man, I can't wait to go back next year.

Oh, I didn't discover the cinnamon rolls....bad...but probably good because I could probably eat them for every meal!

We were there at the same time. Our building (25...right by yours) had the mattresses in them when we got there) but I saw them changing them in the buildings all around. I agree that they were incredibly comfortable. Please let me know when you find out the brand is. We bought very expensive mattresses and I hate them. I never sleep well. I slept like a log every night there even sharing a bed with my hubby and a kid or 2...lol. I would never stay anywhere else.

The beds that are now being placed in POR are Sealy Posturepedic Dynasty 220 Plush. They are soooo comfortable! I am getting on the phone today and see I can find a dealer that carries that make and model. I am not sure what the renovation status is in the mansion section (they looked beautiful from the boat ride downtown, but I never got a real close look at them). Can you have 5 people in a mansion room?

So far, POR is my favorite on site hotel. (Of course, I've only ever stayed at CR, Poly and POR (back when it was Dixie Landings). I got hooked on POR and never went anywhere else after that, LOL, but I am going to see Pop Century in Dec and hoping for AKL in May '05. :)

Nice to hear it. We are a family 5. The kids don't take up much "bathroom time" yet, but once they do, we'll want to get two rooms in a moderate rather than one in a deluxe.

Glad to hear about the new mattresses and to know that the renovations are coming along. Maybe Dh and I will be lucky enough to get one of the renovated rooms - but either way, WDW here I come!

Glad you loved your stay at POR. We stayed there for the first time last December and loved it also. It is such a beautiful place to stay in WDW. I also loved being able to take the slow boat ride to Downtown Disney.

mlbretscher,

The extra (trundle) beds are only available in the AB section, not in the mansions. So only 4 to a room in ther mansion section. Glad to hear that you liked POR- we did too!

I just got back from 4 nights at POR. We stayed in AB building 16. There were new matresses and a coffee pot and hair dryer. The wall paper was peeling off in the bathroom though. I loved the resort, I almost hate to go anywhere else, though I want to try other places. The theming and landscaping is beautiful my 3 and 4 year old DS loved all the wildlife, we don't get rabbits in our yard anymore since putting up a 6 foot privacy fence. :( At least we are safe from peeping neighbors and "chester the molester"

I was VERY disapointed with "mousekeeping". We had the same dirty glasses all 4 days, just turned back upside down, sometimes there were still dirty towels in the bathroom, and towels and wash clothes were just thrown around, no cute animals or anything. The bathroom wasn't cleaned very well either. We even tipped, I don't understand, but we'll try it again. Its such a beautiful place.

Thanks for the report!! I know I have awhile to go, but I am so excited. We've never been to WDW before and have been considering staying at POR for a bit. :Pinkbounc

I'm so glad to read all these great things. I'll be sleeping there tomorrow night!! Woohoo!!!

GO AWAY JEANNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh how exciting!!! Glad to hear you enjoyed POR...we'll be staying there for the first time in Oct. and I was a bit nervous. We usually stay at WL...but we're squeezing in a quick trip for MNSSHP and we'll be going w/ DH's family (MIL/FIL/SIL) and we're pickin up the tab, so we couldn't afford WL even w/ the ap codes...

We're actually really looking forward to visiting POR (w/ the codes, it was a great price!), which building would you recommend for us(DFIL can't walk too far, which would be closest to bus stop?) THANKS!!!

It looks like buildings 14 or 15 in Alligator Bayou would be the closest to the main (south) bus stop and the main building. If you are driving, you may want building 15 as it has real close parking spots. If you plan on depending on the Disney bus lines to take you every where you want to go (and I thought that they were just great) you might like building 14 as it may be a few steps closer to the main building which is a great place to get your morning soda (or coffee) to go with those warm yummy cinnamon rolls!

PS: If you are staying in Magnolia Bend it looks like bulding 90 (depending on which side you were put in) would be the closest to the main building and main bus stop. I never walked over this way during our stay, so I am just going by the map they gave us when we checked in.

We are also staying there for the first time in October. Can't wait!!!

Denise

Just back from our trip - I'll have to post some details later - I have so many thanks because I had EVERYTHING would could have possibly needed with us.

Anyway- we were in building 16. Not too bad of a walk to the bust stop or lobby/food court and right near the quiet pool. I had requested building 14 but was told it wasn't available.

NO complaints here. I do have to say that one day we took the boat over to the French Quarter to go to their pool - but I don't think it was any nicer than the one at Riverside- certainly not worth the time we lost traveling there.
