I just wanted to say "Thank You" to contributors to this board for your sharing your advice and experiences here for the benefit of others. We (2 adults + 2 college age children; essentially 4 adults) have returned from another holiday vacation at Disney. We had a great time and appreciate a couple of key things we did (thanks to your help) in preparation for this vacation. For the benefit of others, let me tell you what these were.

#1 - We decided to try the Disney Dining Plan. In our case this saved us money. We knew we would be doing a sit down dinner each night. Given that and the typical price of dinner at a Disney restaurant, the cost of dinner each night usually exceeded the price per day of the DDP. With that, most of the counter service meals and snacks were kinda like "free". The only additional cost we usually had at dinner was the tip (we had very few appetizers/drinks).

#2 - We made advance reservations for dinner for each night of our stay. We looked through the restaurant menus and picked a variety of places to eat, most of which we really enjoyed. During this busy time though, if we had not made advance reservations we would not have been able to get into most restaurants for dinner.

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks again for your help.
