2 teens arrested in Alleged Massacre plot

This article scares the dickens out of me....I just wish I knew why some children have so much hate in their lives and want to murder their classmates, teachers, etc.....very scary stuff:

LANCASTER, Calif. - Two teenagers were in custody for allegedly plotting to carry out a Columbine-like massacre at their former high school next Valentine's Day, authorities said.


The former Quartz Hill High students, whose names were not released, were arrested Thursday after searches of their homes turned up knives, ammunition, a gas mask and bomb-making instructions downloaded from the Internet, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

They were being held at the Sylmar Juvenile Detention Center for investigation of making terrorist threats, Brown said.

"I've been working with schools for eight years, and we have hoaxes all the time, but this is the first time that I thought, 'Oops, this one could really happen,'" sheriff's Sgt. Darrel Brown said Friday. "You could see they were preparing meticulously, taking things step by step."

The boys, ages 17 and 15, had been transferred from Quartz Hill to other schools for disciplinary reasons, authorities said.

Brown said an investigation began Wednesday when a student contacted the school's vice principal and said the former classmates were planning a "Columbine-style assault" on the campus. The student said she had learned about it second-hand.

The boys told investigators that they planned to kill Quartz Hill students who had made fun of them, using guns and homemade explosives, then commit suicide, Brown said.

On Friday, deputies at the sheriff's station in Lancaster displayed a page from the 15-year-old's notebook with the scrawled message: "When I'm God, everyone dies."

The notebook was accompanied by a three-ring binder with pictures of Columbine High School killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and murderer Charles Manson.

Deputies said they found a black trench coat at one boy's home, possibly to be used in imitation of the similarly-dressed Columbine killers, and the 15-year-old boy had carved the word "hate" into his forearm, authorities alleged

I agree with you here, but another part of my says well how good was it really going to be anyway?

These kids are like this because of lack of parental supervison/compassion/etc...
These are parents that probably were just going to give presents and act like things are ok.

How can a kid have HATE in his forearm but neither parent see that. It's the forearm not like it is a well hidden part.

Just like the columbine killings. The kids hd over 30 bombs in thier room. Do the parents not see the bombs? I have even seen it written they were just out and about the room not hidden. That's a problem when the kids have enough control over the parents that they can leave that stuff out and know the pasrents will not search and care.

Now I am not saying go all out comando and destroy yhe rooms every weekend, but talk to your kids, be a part of thier life other than here is a present please love me.

There is no excuse for any of this to be going on, but the main problem I have read on most of these situations are the parents aren't either around, or just don't care.

WOW! I went to Palmdale High in the mid-1970s, Quartz Hill is in the same district!! QH was (at that time) considered the "elite" school in the district. It was the newest, most modern design at the time.

The area is in the Mojave Desert, North of Los Angeles, near Edwards AFB and was an area with good jobs in the areospace industry, the Space Shuttles were built in Lancaster.

You have to wonder how these teens could become so anti-social and hate filled.

That could be part of it right there. Parents are working alot doing good for the family monetary wise but negelect the children in compassion and beinghtere for them when needed..Sometimes too much work and money is actually a bad thing.

I have an ok paying job, it pays the bills and we can have fun when we save, but that is something I would rather have than making 6 or more figures but lso working 60 + hours a week. I am able to coach my sons little league football and baseball teams, I am able to help with homework, and I am able to spend time with them and show them I am always going to be thier for them!!!

You have a really good point there. I guess I'm given the parents the benfit of the doubt until more comes out about them. Who know's they might be normal parents, just with kids bent on hurting others.

well I try and watch these things a little closer than some do because of the media biases in these things.

I live in Denver so columbine wasn't far from me, and yet all you heard over big time media was, marilyn manson, doom, video games music, movies!!!

I am sorry but there is nothing these kids have listend to or watched that could even remotely compare to what I have watched or listened to, but yet I have never had a feeling of wanting to hurt someone, because my parents were always there for me to talk to them.

The only reason that people speak out against this is stuff is because they want an excuse for other things other than what the real problem is. Again, marilyn manson...wow nothing worse than a rocker that gets his songs played on the radio. I have music that would make Manson sound like disney but again these people just want a way to vent about something they don't like and want to use this as proof.

YIKES....How scarey.....I was born in Lancaster, CA and at that time it was a sleepy little town near LA....My dad was at Edwards.... We loved it there. I have heard that in recent years Lancaster has become overrun with gangs

Um, if my kid did this, I'd have him locked up for observation at a juvenile mental health facility. Period, end of story. That just SCREAMS "I have a problem, help me!" Any parent, teacher, or school administrator who is so oblivious to that message that they don't get the child help should be locked up on the grounds of stupidity.

Not to start a debate really or to blame these parents, but how is it possible these kids are 1) getting these things in the first place and 2) hiding them in their houses and 3) no one is noticing?????

I'm far from a perfect parent, but how far removed from parenting your child do you have to be not to notice that your child carved the word "HATE" into their skin? Thank god that one brave child spoke up and told authorities what was going on.

No one wants to think their child is the next mass murderer, however I do know some parents who turn a blind eye to very obvious and disturbing behaivor by their children.
