2 studios or one bedroom?

My 30 point DVC resale contract at OKW is complete, my 2009 and 2010 points are available now on dvcmember.com, and I picked up my DVC member card at Disneyland on Saturday since I live 20 minutes away!

Now I'm planning my first WDW trip as a DVC member. It looks like I will be going with a friend. We are thinking of going the Animal Kingdom Lodge Value Room route. But we don't want to share a bed. So, is it better to get a one bedroom with one of us stuck on the sofa bed in the living room, or is it better to have two studios so we each get a real bed?

The point total would be equal for each option so that isn't a holdup.

Any advice would be appreciated! :)

Well do you want two bathrooms or a full kitchen with a washer and dryer?

I would do the 1 bed myself. If you think there is any possibility of the friend cancelling go the studio route.

There are only a total of 10 value 1 bedrooms (I think), and some of them get used as 2 bedrooms, so have a plan "B." There are a few more dedicated value studios, so your chances may be better going that route. At 7 months, it's hard to say what you could get.

If I had the choice, I would go with the 1 bedroom. It seems just nicer to me, more hospitable to be together. I have a stay coming up in March with my DSis and a DF and I began with 2 studios, so no one had to share a bed, but in the end, I booked a 1 bedroom at Kidani. DSis and I will share the king bed and DF will have the pull out, but we'll all share the kitchen/living room gathering place!

This a "Tell Me More" scenario. If you don't wish to share a bed you could still go with a one studio to save points. One person gets the bed while the other gets the sleeper sofa and you save points. If the sleeper sofa isn't an appealing option then go with the two studios. With two studios you will have two baths which you wouldn't have with the single studio or the one bedroom. And of course there is the issue of privacy. Two studios will afford each of you more privacy than a single studio or the one bedroom. If you choose the 1 bedroom option your back to someone using a sleeper sofa but you will have a full kitchen, living room, laundry room, and jacuzzi. If your not locked into the Animal Kingdom Lodge route, and privacy is not an issue, you could look into a studio at OKw. The OKW studios are a bit larger and have two queen size beds as opposed to a bed and a sofa sleeper.

Frankly, the bed scenario is the same whether you are in a 1 bedroom or a studio. Both will have one bed and one sleep sofa for bedding. So if it's two REAL beds you want, then I would go for OKW and book a studio, since that has two queen sized beds in the studio. If you want more space, book an OKW 1 bedroom...you will be flabbergasted at the amount of room you get!

If you have your heart set on AKV, just be aware that there may not be value level rooms available at the 7 month window.

I like the way you think.

I'd do an OKW studio with 2 queens. For AKV, I'd go with a 1 BR Kidani with the 2 bathrooms.
