Hi-
Party is me and 2 DD's and friend and her DD. The friend wants to take her DD to WDW because their Make A Wish trip waS cut short due to DD getting sick. As a result, we are going very last minute. There are studios and 1 BR available and we are on a budget. Friend needs to cook much of the trip. Would you get the 2 studios for privacy or the 1-BR to have an actual stove? I am planning on OKW so the 1 BR will be bigger and I really don't care for the studios there.
All opinions appreciated.
Thanks!

If this was me, I would definitely go for the privacy. If we were all related I could see sharing a villa. The studios at OKW are pretty large and me and my sis and 2 young nieces shared one 2 years ago and it was fine but I don't think I would want to share a studio with friends. I would definitely want my own private space.

As far as cooking in the studio goes, I know I've seen threads on that subject on the DIS with practical suggestions on what to fix in a studio. Since she will still have a microwave and stove, I'm sure she can come up with some ingenious ideas (frozen stuff that can be nuked, cold cereal or pop tarts and things like that). Have a wonderful trip whatever you decide.

I like the studios...

you get a microwave, under the counter refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker.

also paper plates & bowls, 4 glasses, 2 mugs, can opener, plastic utilities.

you can definitely cook eggs and bacon with a microwave.

for hamburger, steaks or chicken - you can use the grill outside.

if you are going this year - remember you can buy the dinning plan $37.99 per adult per day - which is a good bargin unless you do cook.

there is no stove in a studio.

I can do fine with a studio.....

of course those 1-bedrooms are pretty wonderful... now if you were getting a 2-bedroom - I would go with a 2-bedroom - everyone has privacy. but with a 1-bedroom - someone will have to sleep on the sleeper sofa in the livingroom not to mention sharing a bathroom - I will pick 2 studios over 1-bedroom any time with guests who aren't family (okay I pick a 2-bedroom)

you are sweet person to do for a friend - but if your only choice is a 1 bedroom or two studios I would with the 2 studios.... now add a 2-bedroom and that gets my vote.

I like the 2 studio idea, 4 real queen sized beds and 2 bathrooms.

Enjoy your trip, whatever you decide.

I like the studios as well as you get the additional bathroom rather then the one bathroom.

2 studios at OKW would give you 4 queen beds and 2 bathrooms, a 1 bedroom would give you 1 king and 1 pullout sofa, 1 bathroom. The 1 bedroom would only give you towels for 4 and you would need bedding for the 5th person. If it wasn't for the cooking issue, I would say to go for 2 studios. Anyway you can spring for a 2 bedroom? Or maybe rent points for a studio and use your points for the 1 bedroom?

I would try to get a 2 bedroom if at all possible at OKW. You will have both the big kitchen AND the privacy, especially if you get a lock off unit.

BTW, if the studio and 1 bedroom that are available are both at OKW, that means there is a 2 bedroom available too.

A 1 bedroom at OKW would only have 1 real bed and one sleep sofa and one bathroom with that big kitchen. 2 studios would have 4 queen beds and 2 bathrooms but no real kitchen. The 2 bedroom would fill all needs, and would be 10 points less than the studio and 1 bedroom reserved seperately. That is assuming you are staying Sunday through Thursday.

I had thought about a 2BR but only have enough points for 3 nights if we go that route instead of 4 with the studios or 1BR. Thanks for the advice. I will probably go for the studios so that I can have some quiet time with my kids. I mentioned the dining plan to her but it is out of her budget.

I agree with the 2 studios. But I'll disagree that having a 1 BR and a studio automatically means there is a 2 BR available. The way they allot the rooms, there may indeed be the smaller units available without the larger one or the reverse, a lockoff available without the smaller units.

I do not think the 1 bedroom and 1 studio was an option for the OP. I think she was just asking 2 studios or 1 1 bedroom. I think, as many have already suggested here if those are your options, go for the 2 studios for more privacy and for seperate bathrooms. OOPs, I see you have already decided to go that route. Good for you!

I hope you all have a wonderful trip!! What a great friend you are. Have fun!! :sunny:
