2 short or one long?

This is probably not the most appropriate place to post this but I thought budget minded people would be the best to ask.

There may be an opportunity for me and 2 dd's to go to WDW in January for 3-4 days but dh says that if we do that will be deducting the same amount of days from our 8-9 day trip next October. I would only go in January if there was a decent discount. My heart says go twice in one year but my head tells me maybe I should just be patient and wait.

So what would you do?

I would be patient and wait. I find longer trips to be more relaxing and more fun.

I agree. We've done it both ways many times. Living an hour away gives us more options. The shorter trips don't even compare to longer, more relaxed ones. We now only consider it a vacation, if it's 7 nights or longer. Go for a cheaper getaway, closer to home, to tide you over. You won't regret it. :goodvibes

Have to agree. Whether we drive or fly, we always lose a couple of days to the sheer exhaustion of getting there. We are planning more and more longer trips just to give us a chance to really relax.

Last December, we stayed two weeks in Orlando for the first time ever. It definitely was an improvement over a single week.

On the other hand, I find January to be a very depressing month and am always looking for somewhere warm to escape to.

I knew I could count on you guys! Unless some super duper deal comes out I think I will wait and apply the money I would be spending in January to my October trip and maybe upgrade to a nicer resort!!

ANother vote for one long. Espescially since my impression from your post was that your DH may not be in favor of the Jan. Trip.

Long, DFiance' and I were going to do a quick 3 nighter cruise next month, but instead are saving the $ to be able to add to our savings to do another 7 nighter. Much more relaxing. We've done one day WDW trips, 2 nights, 5 nights and longer and the longer the better, I have a day or so to relax and then enjoy myself. I feel too rushed on a short vacation.

No flames, please. I know I am in the minority when I say that I like more, shorter trips, although I've never done less than 5 days. I just get too lonesome for WDW if I have to wait too long between trips. Because we go often I do not worry about doing everything. I just need a "fix" of the Disney magic on a regular basis. Whatever you decide, have a great time!

I like a 8-9 day trip, but if we lived closer I would do 2 5 day trips. So for me the transportation is the deciding factor. We have done a 10+ trip and IMHO it is too long for those with younger kids. I can make a week no problem but 9 days is my limit. Considering we are DVC members I would love to do 3 trips sun-fri. but the $1,200-1,400 in flying is really hard to handle. I would love to be 8-10 hours out. :sunny:

You are very perceptive sk!mom!! DH is not in favor of ANY Disney trips but next October is our 15th anniversary so I told him that's the least he could do!! The last two trips have been without him and believe me it took lots of fit throwing to get him to agree for us to go!!

He gets to go to Las Vegas for a conference in January and I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to guilt him into letting us go to WDW, well it worked but of course with stipulations !!
