2 ?s on transportation

We have flights booked with SW and a rental car with Alamo. We are going to be able to leave a few days before I booked. Also my DH will be able to leave 2 days before his time. I am so excited I get 2.5 weeks and he gets 1.5. Anyway my ?s are how do you go about changing your reservation to a few days earlier? Will I be charged extra for doing this? Do I have to cancel my existing reservations on the car and plane tickets, and make new ones? Or is there a way to just update and change days? Any help would be appreciated. I have never had to change reservations before. One more ? I thought of will this cause problems? Will they get our schedules mixed up or anything?

I would call SW directly and do it over the phone. That way if you have any doubts or questions, they are right there to ask. Not sure if there is a change fee...most airlines charge one. I've never had to change a flight with SW so I'm not sure.
If you can access your car rental on-line, then you should be able to change it there. I've done that before. There most likely will be a change in the amount you are charged since you are picking up earlier.

The car rental will be you biggest problem .

SWA just go to your ressie and click on Travel tool > Change Interary > and it will step it through for you .The only charge will be if there is an increase in availilbe flights .( if you paid $100 and now only $131 is avail then you pay the 31 difference) Now also if you fare goes down you get the credit for that as well.

How soon do you have to use the credit? I checked the site and they have an internet rate cheaper than what I orginally booked. The only thing is we won't be flying again for 2 years. Next years vacation we will be driving.
