We are booked for our 1st Disney vacation this fall. :) We have 2 rooms at Pop Century for 8 of us. Myself, hubby, 1 Disney adult, 3 kids, mil, and fil. We are planning on QS meals but would like to do at least 1 character meal. Our reservation are in my mine and my husband's name as mil and fil aren't 100% sure they are going. "If" free dining is offered during our dates we are going to attempt to add it otherwise pay OOP. If we luck out and get it would we be able to upgrade 1 of the rooms from QS to Ddp and share the TS credits (5 nights 10 credits) between everyone and do 2 TS meals? I've done the math and if it would work it would be less to upgrade 1 room than paying OOP for the 1 meal at Chef Mickey's we are planning. :thanks:

I think it is an all or nothing if both rooms are on the same reservation. You might want to book each room on it's own reservation to split the dining plans.

I currently have 2 rooms booked for our upcoming trip and both our rooms are on 2 different dining plans.

Years ago we reserved three rooms with the dining plan. When I made the reservation, I told them that one of the rooms would only be occupied by one son for all seven days and another son for three days. They assured me that we could buy the dining plan for just the three days, but when we got there they required seven days for both sons. We had a LOT of extra tickets when our week was done. Since we were staying in Florida for the winter you can bet that I stocked up on whatever I could to use up those tickets before we left.

But are they on the same reservation number?

Mine are separate reservation numbers under the same Disney account. I think that is the way OP's is based on her wording that one is in her name and one in her husbands. Plus if i'm not mistaken, when you book 2 rooms like that, they are always separate reservation #'s.

My reservations have the same confirmation number.

I am primary in 1 room and DH is primary in the 2nd. They have the same reservation number.

Sounds like it was booked incorrectly. I would call ASAP to get it corrected. There is only one way to have two rooms on one reservation and that is when there are two or less adults traveling with multiple children. You are going to have continued problems with MDX, etc. Every room has to have it's own reservation number and MDX account to work best.

After this mistake is corrected you can book different dining plans for each room.

N, it's not a mistake. This is how booking multiple rooms is supposed to work. But, if you want separate dining plans, then you need to split the rooms to separate reservation numbers. You risk the rooms being farther apart this way, but you can have them add a "traveling with" notation to both reservations. That should keep you close together.

Sorry, Supernoop, but you are incorrect. One room...one reservation. Having the rooms on one reservation does not increase your odds for connecting rooms. (Even if they are booked incorrectly, like the OP). If you have more than three adults connecting or adjoining it is not guaranteed.

This rule has always been in place, but is even more important a policy after MDX.

For example, online check in can not be done on the second room.

Seconding this. It was booked wrong.

But fixing it will also require a other deposit.

Sorry you received inaccurate information. This wasn't an issue of multiple rooms -- it was because every person booked to the same room must have the same package. Dining plan is for length of stay, which correlates to the number of hotel nights the room is booked. So with both sons booked to the same room, both were required to have a dining plan for the full reservation. You would have needed a room with just a 3-night reservation to do a 3-day dining plan. I'm glad you found good use for the extra meal/snack credits!

Really? We did put a deposit on both rooms already. I think I will have to call and talk to a CM to sort it all out.

Your booking CM sounds like a whackadoodle.

The deposit is per reservation, not room. So one reservation with two rooms only needs one deposit. When it's two rooms on two reservations that they link together, it's two deposits.

With two reservations linked together you can still request connecting rooms with the same success rate. You could then get two different dining plans.

If you already paid a deposit for both rooms they should be able to request a transfer of funds when they split the reservations so that you have a deposit on both.
