I have seen suggestions that it may be more cost effective to stay in a suite vs. 2 conceirge rooms.
Although suites are not discounted, I thought it was possible to get a nice discount on conceirge rooms (codes or AP) thus making it a little more budget friendly, than a suite. Am I overlooking anything??

Sometimes it is cheaper to book two rooms if you can get any kind of discount. However, I think a suite is better if you have small children. Of course it depends on the kind of suite you book. Two rooms that connect will provide two bathrooms and extra "regular" beds instead of pull out sofas. Remember too that at some resorts a suite may not come with concierge services. If that were the case I would much rather have two concierge rooms and the great ammenities that go along with it.

There are pros and cons to each.

It really is a matter of personal choice.

It is possible to get 2 concierge rooms cheaper than some 1br suites when you are using some code or AP discount.

Right now the codes that are out for concierge rooms at AKL, for example, bring the cost down to $380 per room. A 1 br suite is $710. Pretty close in price.

We were trying to decide between 2 concierge rooms and a suite for our trip to AKL this fall. We decided on a 1br suite. That way, we can "live" in the living room area and sleep in the bedroom area. The master bathroom in the 1br suite also looks great with a huge shower. They also have a nice size dining table in the living area and a fridge and micro. The suite also works out better for us because DH needs to get up early a certain day and we can sleep in the bedroom and he can sleep in the living room or the opposite.

The above poster is correct, some suites do not come with concierge. The ones at AKL do. I am not sure what other resorts have suites that come with concierge.

My DH just didn't want both rooms to be filled with beds and he likes the living area of the suite better. He feels it will be more relaxing. I think there is a small bathroom with a sink and a toilet in the living area.

Hope this helps.

Excellent answer vbfamily. Please post a report when you get back from the AKL. I am interested to know how you like the suite. I KNOW you will love the concierge. It is awesome. Have a great trip!

I wasn't aware that some suites do not include conceirge services.
Thanks for your input everyone. Glad I asked. I learn new things all the time.

I just got back from 4 nights on the concierge level of the Beach Club. If you think that you will make use of the food provided in the concierge lounge, then concierge could make for an economical choice. Every day we ate breakfast, snacked and had dessert and drinks in the lounge. We found that we also felt less of a need to snack throughout the day. Overall, I feel that staying in the concierge level was very economical for us.
