I am renting points from a friend for a trip to BWV for myself/DH, and my DSis/her DH. We are sharing a room the first night(to save on weekend points)but then each have a 3 night reservation separately. My question is, as the shared reservation # is in my sister's name, with a different reservation # for the subsequent 3 nights. Will these reservation #'s be linked so she won't have to change rooms after the first night?? Or will she need to go and recheck in the next morning with her new reservation #? I know I have to wait until the next morning to register for my own room, but I don't want her to have to pack up and move, as well as me not being able to leave my luggage in her room.

Also, with this new Magic Band thingie, does this mean we'd all be getting Magic Bands for our first shared night and then get others for our individual rooms? Or can we both link the separate reservation #'s to the same Magic Band? I soooo don't understand this Magic Band stuff. I have alot to learn before my November trip.

Your sister should have the member she is renting from make the request that she can stay in the same room - and she should repeat that request at arrival. She will probably be fine, but the more times the request (and it is just a request) is made, the more chance it could happen.

Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than me can help with the Magic Band questions. You should be able to have both reservations on the same Magic Band, but the program has its own set of quirks and challenges.

Good luck! :)

Member services should be able to link the reservations. For her not to have to change rooms they would both have to be the same room type and view/classification. Your party would need to be listed on the reservation for your MB to work for room access

For the first question - as it stands now, Yes and Yes. I can say that on our last trip we had two concurrent reservations and when I checked in for the second room all keys and magic-bands would allow room access. However, YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary):confused3

Have the person you are renting from place a "Travel with" notice on all three reservations of the other two reservation numbers. This will alert the CMs doing the room assignments that you would like to be near each other and for your sister to remain in the same room if possible.
One question, your sister's reservation is it in the same size and view of villa? If not your sister will most likely be changing rooms.

OP here - Yes, my sister's reservations are both for same room size/type. I asked my friend to doublecheck with Member Services to be sure the ressie #'s are linked, but I'll ask she also put a "travel with' notice on all 3 of the ressie #'s. Thanks to all my DIS friends for the help!

Now I'll just have to figure out the new Magic Bands when the time comes as well as signing up for meal reservations and FP's online. I can't believe how much as changed since I last went in October 2012.....
