2 reservations for one night (splitting up) will Disney cancel?

I booked 2 ADRs for one night of our trip. DD and I are eating at CRT and DH and DS are eating with friends that will be there at the same time - so I have a table of 2 booked one place and a table of 4 booked another. When I did it, a screen popped up indicating that I had 2 dinner reservations on the same night and needed to cancel 1. Will Disney really cancel one- i.e., should I try to rebook DH's group under a different account?

I don't know if they will cancel it or not, but we are doing the same thing and when that window popped up for me, I went back and booked one reservation under DH's name and one under mine. That way there will be no issue.. My DH is taking 2 of our kids to a character meal and I am taking the other, who is afraid of characters, to a princess meal at basically the same time.

The word is closer to "suggesting" to cancel the other one, not outright making you do it. It's perfectly valid to have multiple reservations for this situation.

However, with that said, there have been several cases of CMs cancelling reservations on their own because they feel that the user is abusing the system (don't get me started on that!) without taking split parties and other valid reasons into account.

I would suggest you make the other (non-CRT) reservation under a different account and name, just to be on the safe side.
