Is it possible to have 2 Resv for 1 Resort for Consecutive Dates?

I'm hoping for free dining in Aug/Sept '08. But looks like it may start on 8/30. I believe my DD5 starts Kingergaten on 9/3. So that Resv would be for only 3 nights. It seems to too shorts.

Can we arrive a couple days (or just maybe 1 day) eariler w/ another Resv at the same resort. Don't want to have any confusion. Would they change the resv and I won't be able to take advantage of Free Dinning (if offered)?

Also, should I wait to book?

You can make two reservations, one ending one day and the other starting that night. Used to do that a lot if our trip crossed from a more expensive season to a cheaper one. Then we would pay the more expensive rate for the high priced season, check out, check back in and pay the cheaper rate for the rest of the stay. We never had to change rooms, just went down to the front desk, told them what we were doing, and they gave us new resort keys. So if you want to take advantage of an offer that is starting in the middle of your stay, you should be able to do the same thing. The only thing is that you do have to pay 2 deposits, since you have 2 reservations.

Yes, you can definitely do that. If you want to minimize the risk of having to change rooms, make sure you book the same room type for both reservations. For example, if you were staying at WL and both reservations were woods view, you probably wouldn't have to change. But if you book a courtyard view, and then a woods view, you would probably have to.

I've had to do this when booking long vacations with a code. The codes are typically only good for a maximum of 14 days, so if you're staying three weeks instead of two, you have to have two reservations.

So I wouldn't have to worry about missing out on the Free Dining Plan (if offered). Just make 2 Resv back to back, same name, same room view. Then day of start of promotion I would get a new key w/Free Dining. Does that sound right?

Also, not sure of my actual return since I don't really know when school starts yet. I would think it would be better to book the extra night from the begining. If school starts Thurday (instead of Wednesday), then all is OK. If I need to leave a day eariler then I will have just paid for an extra night ($82 plus tax) but I would have an extra day of the free dinning credit so it would balance out. I just leave early w/ express checkout. Would that work out?

Thanks.

Just so I'm not confused - are you unsure about both the arrival and departure dates, or just departure date?

As far as the actual process, if you have a room only reservation for a night or two before your package starts, then you go to the front desk and go through the check in process again on the day your package starts and you will get your dining entitlements at that time. When I did the split reservation, they were both room only and I did not receive new keys. I don't know if you would get new keys or if they will just add the entitlements to the old ones - they would let you know when you go through the second check in. Keep in mind that you can use your dining credits through midnight of the day you check out, so if you aren't sure if you need the extra day or not, you can always book a room only for that last night (maybe with a good discount code if one is released) which gives you the best cancellation flexibility. For example, if your package ends on Wednesday, your credits are good through midnight on Wednesday. So if you have a room only for Wednesday night, checking out on Thursday, you can still have dinner on Wednesday with any credits you might have - even though technically you're now on a room only reservation.

Last year, free dining started at different times for different promotions, so if there is a rumor floating around about August 30th because perhaps the free dining bounceback dates start August 30th, that doesn't necessarily mean that all free dining would start on that date. It may start earlier or later. Unfortunately, we won't know for sure until they announce something, and that won't be for a few months yet.

We did this last year. We had a reservation for 1 night before the Free Dining promotion so we had 2 separate reservations. When I checked in, I told them I had consecutive reservations and wanted to stay in the same room. There was no problem. You will have to check out and check back in the next day under your 2nd reservation. The only thing with this is that when you book Free Dining, you have to book a full package that includes park tickets for everyone. You won't be able to get your tickets until you check in with the Free Dining reservation.

Thanks for the info.

Glad to know that we can we can add a couple of days prior to the Free Dining (if offered).

I didn't realize that in the past there were different dates for free dining. I always seemed to miss it. I wanted to go during certain times so I never took adavntage of it.

We have tried the Dining Plan for 10 days (at the time, paying for only 1 child) and found it for that length of time it was too much for us. And since we would have to pay for another child next time it probably would not be worth for us. Maybe for for a shorter time. BUT if it is offered for free for a short period which we would like to do, it would be a savings. Now that I would like to finally do it, it probably won't be offered. If that is the case, we would just go eariler in August and not worry about the school start date. That's why I'm not certain of arrival and departure dates.

I would think, it would be harder to add an extra night w/ free dining after the promotion has ended. If I add the extra night from the begining, we would get extra day of free dining. The cost of the extra night would be about the same if we had to pay for an extra day of the dining plan. We would just check out eariler.

Question is... Is this wrong to do, using the extra day for free dining since checking out eariler. I would be paying for the extra night. Could we use express check out? Or do we have to be there to check out during Free Dining promotion? Not looking to scam anyone. Just don't know school start date and when the actuall school calendar is made. By that time, it will be too late.

Thanks for your help.

Any thought if this is OK...
