2 quick packing ?? passports & digital cameras

first yr with passports these are good for.....i don't need the birth cert anymore?
and i can never remember, does it matter, digital camera in checked luggage or carry on??

Don't put anything valuable in your checked luggage. Take the camera in your carry on. Passport is fine, no birth cert.

You should be good to go with just the passports.
As far as your digital camera....don't put anything in your checked luggage you wouldn't want to have to replace. I carry all my electronics in my carryon bag. Way too tempting for those baggage handlers.

Passports are the gold standard in ID. You need nothing else.

You should never pack anything valuable in checked luggage. So keep your camera in your carry-on. X-rays are a form of light. If film is exposed to light it is ruined. Digital cameras have no film, so there's nothing to be damaged by x-rays. Digital camera memory cards are exactly like CDs and computer hard drives, which pass through x-ray machines all the time.
