1) Steve Soares website lists Kiss Goodnight times for this week. I looked at Saturday because we are going next Saturday. He lists the times at midnight, 12:30 AM, and 1AM. I know Spectro occurs at 11PM but I thought the park closed after that? So is anything else open or people can just wait to watch this Kiss Good night - even until 1AM :confused3 Also if you watch it after park closing won't the buses be gone? How would we go back to the hotel?

2) So I just read about the Electric Water Pageant after months of planning. We probably won't have time to see it when we are at the Magic Kingdom but thought this might be a cute thing to catch in a spare evening? Where do you stand to see it? Do we just pick a resort and go there and watch? Where do you stand to watch? How would we even go over there? Can we take the bus and monorail to a resort without ever going into a park?

I would love to know this too, what is the kiss goodnight? What website are you referring to that lists the times?

Kiss goodnight happens about 45 minutes or so after the park day ends. (It could be different with the 50 celebration). It has changed a bit over the years, but the Castle changes colors (more than normal), some neatthings are voiced over, and, well, unless you are a Disney lover, you would think it pretty blah. BUT, if a Disney lover, can bring a tear or two. Here is a Quicktime of it from a few years ago. last time I saw it, it was a little different than this, but similar.

EWP can be seen nicely from the beach areas of any of the MK resorts.

A couple of years ago, I was on a mission to see "The Kiss Goodnight". Armed with NO information whatsoever ;) except that Dan Murphy had spoken of it on the DIS, the kids and I went to Guest Services at MK (I don't recall what night it was, but it was our last night on vacation), and asked what time it was supposed to be. The CM was clueless. After several phone calls, and being forwarded to several other people, she found out the time (maybe a half hour after closing?), and that it was to occur every half hour for a couple of hours or so after that. I don't remember the exact details, but the information you got sounds correct. For that trip, we were staying offsite and had our car, so I have no idea about transportation afterwards...I think it WOULD be a problem, if you stayed through the last one, but I don't see why you would anyway.

Last year, DH was with us, and I wanted him to see it. We didn't stop for information at Guest Services, because I figured we'd just wait to see it. Well, Mr Cranky (DH) wanted to just leave at closing, but I made him and the little crankies (kids...16, 14, and 12) wait. While we were waiting, some people with young kids came along, and the woman asked a CM who was cleaning up, about what time it would start, and then they decided to leave because it wasn't going to be for a little while. Well, about 5 minutes after they left, it DID start, so we got to see it, and left. Again, we had a rental car.

A lot of the stores on Main Street stay open for an hour or so after the park closes. There were some people milling around in front of the castle waiting for the Kiss Goodnight, but not many. While we waited, we just sat there and watched the CMs clean.

Hope this helps a bit.

Dan...LOL. There you are!

I do recall calling you from a crowd of people on the monorail ramp to ask you about The Kiss Goodnight, and screaming into the phone so you could hear me, but I couldn't hear you!

It's definitely worth it for a Disney Freak, such as I am. :) Even Mr Cranky was happy he saw it. ::yes:: (He's also a MAJOR Disney Freak, but when he's tired...yikes!)

Dan, sorry to see I'll miss you by ONE day next week, esp since I was so disappointed I missed you in Chicago. :(

Dan - Thank you so much for posting that link! I have often wondered exactly what the Kiss GN is, and I appreciate this so much.

Oh...and about the EWP. I think it can be seen first (is it still 9:00ish?) from the Polynesian Resort, and that's a very nice beach to watch from. Sure, you can take a bus or monorail...you don't need to enter a park. What resort are you staying at? You could take a bus to the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center), and then WALK to the Polynesian, actually.

We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Is it safe to ask the bus driver how to get there :goodvibes ?

Dan, thanks for the link! I just watched it...*sniff*. It IS wonderful. :)

Marriedmarylander...it just occurred to me...the busses from the resorts go straight to the MK, not to the TTC. So, take the bus from CBR to the MK, and then hop on the monorail to the Polynesian. Sure, you can ask the bus driver, but why ask when you have me? :teeth:

Hey mare. You are going next week? :faint: Miss by one day? :(

Also, if on site, there will always be a bus to take you 'home', regardless how late.

Yes, Dan. :( But YOU'LL be there on MY birthday, May 25...is THAT fair? LOL Have a Mickey bar in my honor, OK? ...and a Dole Whip...and a funnel cake...and...:teeth:

Really...you can always get transportation?

When we were being 'accompanied' out of MK late one evening (I do think we were the very last guests in the park), the security fellow asked what our resorts were. I think there were 3 of us, all different resorts. The guy said, 'That's what we thought, there is your bus over there, he'll get you all home'.

Now, if you have to walk home one night, don't blame me, LOL, that's how it worked for us. :cool1: I really do think that want you back to your resort, safe and sound.
