First, does anyone know if the 2 bedroom suites have 2 bathrooms as well? We want to go next December and there will be 2 families, 2 adults and 2 kids each and I don't really feel comfortable sharing a bathroom. Second, when can we make our reservations? I've noticed people have ressies at other resorts for next December but I am unable to even get a quote on the website. Thanks!

Yes the 2 bedroom units at OKW have 2 full size baths. The second bedroom is actually the studio unit and it is locked if you are renting the 1 bedroom unit. Call the WDW CRO for quotes.

There are two different types of two bedroom villas at OKW. The dedicated two bedroom and the lockoff.

The lockoff is a one bedroom plus a studio with the door open between them. There are two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a kitchenette. Two entrances into the villas. There are two balconies - one large and one small. Two separate telephone lines. One king bed in the master bedroom, one queen sleeper sofa in the living room and two queen beds in the second bedroom.

A dedicated two bedroom cannot be separated into a studio and one bedroom. There is no second entrance into the villa. There is only one balcony. One telephone line (with three phones). There is only the kitchen, no kitchenette. Where the kitchenette would be there is a second bathroom vanity sink and a closet. You still have two bathrooms. There is also a large walkin closet where the entrance would be. Beds are still the same as the lockoff.

Usually if you have a reservation a two bedroom, they will give you the dedicated two bedroom unless you request a lockoff. Unless they have run out of dedicated two bedrooms.

The DVC resorts tend not to be available a year ahead. Members own about 95% of the rooms and cannot reserve before 11 months. As members start trading out to other locations, rooms are turned over to CRO.

Have you considered "renting" your reservation through a DVC member? You would be able to book your vacation at 11 months out and would probably save a lot of money. You might want to check the DVC board on here to get more information about the process. Bascially you need to find a DVC member who has extra points and is willing to secure a reservation for you. The DVC member puts the reservation in your name, but you will not have the ability to make changes to the reservation. You then pay the DVC member to rent the reservation from them. The going rate to rent a reservation is between $10 and $13 per point. It might seem like a giant leap of faith when you first learn about the process, but many DISers have had successful transactions. We keep in contact with the DVC member we rented through and feel completely comfortable recommending him to our friends and family.

Good luck! :daisy:

The only problem with renting a reservation from a DVC member is the lack of flexibility for the non-member. Most members don't allow any cancellations or changes. Many no refunds if you do cancel. If the other family decides they can't go at the last minute, you may be stuck with your two bedroom villa for just your family. The member sets the payment terms as well.

If your dates are not set in stone for both families, you are probably better off getting your reservation directly through Disney.

Renting from a member takes a lot of trust by both parties.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Thanks everyone for all the info. Do you all think the dedicated 2 bedroom or the lockoff unit is better for 2 families? Also, if I rent from a DVC person, would I be able to get the dining plan as well? Thanks!

if you are putting all the kids in the 2nd bedroom - definitely get the dedicated.

however if the other couple is going in there - a lock off would be better. then they could leave and come without going through the front door. Not to mention their own balcony.

remember there is a vast difference in the master bathroom - it has a whirlpool tub, and shower stall. also shares the balcony with the living room.
the bedroom has a king bed.

the second bathroom only has a combination. the second bedroom has 2 queens.

the second bedroom is enough smaller that if you are sharing the costs and want to split everything equal - will I might consider 2 studios instead.

then you get a kitchennett. (no full kitchen or washer and dryer - but the laundry mat is free at OKW) just pay for your detergent and fabric softernor - which you need to bring.
