2 questions about buying annual passports

I am going to have to buy our annual passes at the gates... are the prices there different than the prices online? If so, are the gate prices posted anywhere?

Also... if I buy an Annual pass and it is blocked out the day I buy it, can someone (or several people to calm my nerves) confirm that we can actually go in the parks that day?

AP prices are the same online or at the gate. I have not personally tried it, but you are supposed to be able to use the pass to enter the parks on day of activation whether it's a blocked out day or not for your level of pass.
