2 part question

I read that there is a long walk to and from the elevators. Can anyone thell me if the elevators are close to the general store. I'm going to request a view over the general store area so we can see the entertainment. Or does someone else have a personal perference over looking the Boardwalk were the entertainment is? Also when can you fax in your request and does anyone have the BWV fax number? This is our 8th year going to WDW, but first time as members. I hope we won't be disappointed.

The elevators are right off the lobby area. On this map roughly the "H" "I" "J" area. Where this section meets the part that branches out, is roughly where the elevators are located. As you can see, you have to walk down a hallway to reach the General Store area and then it branches out to the rest of the Boardwalk view rooms.

You will be lucky to get a Boardwalk view at all, let alone specifically over the store. You also will have to walk a distance from the elevators but it's usually worth the walk.

I'm not sure when you are going, but the best time to make room requests is when you book your vacation with MS. DVC handles room requests a little differently than CRO. Supposedly, there is no benefit to faxing room requests, etc. The room requests are filled in the order they are made....so the first ones to be filled would be the ones placed at the 11 month reservation time.

Call MS and put in your room preference as soon as possible. They will try to fill the request in the order you provide the requests...so prioritize your list to make the most important thing first.

Also, I understand that Boardwalk views are hard to come by, especially with some of the renovations going on right now at BWV. And requesting a specific area of the Boardwalk view sounds almost impossible. So don't be disappointed if you can't get a Boardwalk view...we had a wonderful view of the quiet pool and MGM's Tower of Terror a few weeks ago.

The General Store is pretty close to the elevators, which are close to the lobby.

Oops, I see from your countdown calendar that you are within a couple of weeks of going. I think you will have a tough time getting a Boardwalk view (and I think I'm stating that optimistically).

As I indicated, DVC room requests work a little different than CRO. On your next stay (and you've got 40 more years of them!), you'll want to request your location when you make your reservation.

My home resort is VWL I made reservation 11 months out and then changed to BWV 7 months out and I requested a Boardwalk view. Do you think I will still have a hard time geting one?

It really just comes down to luck. It depends on how many people checkout that day for your type of room. I made a request right at 11 months for Boardwalk view and didn't get it (early December 2000). Others reporting making a reservation at 3 months or less and getting it. I didn't send a fax and regreted it later. They say it doesn't matter, but it wouldn't have hurt.
