Hi, I haven't been to Universal in over 10 years, and we will have one free day on our vacation in April. Is it possible to do both parks in one day, while hitting all of the major rides and not going crazy? Thanks!

In April, you would have to stay on site to accomplish that, which would give you two days of express passes. Otherwise, it would be very hard to do.

We haven't been to universal in April for a couple of years but visited during the summer and thanksgiving vacations when it's usually pretty crowded. We haven't stayed on property because we own Disney Vacation Club property and stay there. We always do both parks in one day. This is our plan of attack: 1)We get to the parks right at opening. 2)We start at IOA and hit the Hulk 1st, Spiderman 2nd, Jurassic Park 3rd, Dueling Dragons 4th, Posiedon's Fury 5th. Haven't done the water rides in November but usually check out the wait times . It used to be a lot easier when they had the free express passes! 3) Now it's around lunchtime and we walk over to US. The two most popular are The Mummy Ride and Men in Black so we check these out first. Then we walk around and hit the other rides if the waits aren't too bad. 4) They do sell express passes if you want help to get through the lines if you don't plan on staying on property, although we've been pretty lucky without them . You can do both parks if you do some planning and get there right before opening.

April is very crowded with spring break and mardi gras. Yes, if your "lucky" and skip half the rides, you can do it. But you will miss a lot.

Doing both parks in one day is never recommended...regardless of the season. There is too much to see and do in each park to rush through it.

We will be giving it a shot on our trip. If we don't get to to everything, there will always be a next time :)

I have the same question about doing both parks in one day in June 2009. Our DS will be 8. For fun we just went to the website listing what we might be interested in seeing. A lot of the very top thrill rides we will be skipping(ex: the two major coasters, Mummy and maybe Jurassic). So with a family that is not into scary thrill rides could we still do the parks in 1 day? My DS is mostly interested in the character based attractions(Jimmy, ET, Spiderman and Shrek).I would be willing to buy the Express Pass for the one day/both parks.

We usually get to do most of the things we want to do visiting two parks in one day. It's tough when you don't live nearby so we try to do as much as possible in a limited time. As I said before, a lot of times we don't do the water rides (except for Jurassic Park) so we have plenty of time for everything else. Go for it and have a great time! I know we will in June when we come back again.
